Biomutant will be 4k/60 on XSX, 1440/30 on XSS, 1080/60 on PS5 (technical issues, patch to follow). Current gen info to follow

What OP didn't share, btw

So basically, they deactivated native 4k on the PS5 back compat version, none of them are current gen versions. Congrats!

I don't think you can have a magical resolution option for PS5 only in BC. So it is more like they couldn't run on PS4 Pro at 4K (even dynamic) bc of technical or performance issues, therefore no 4K on PS5 right now until native.

We saw it soon after launch with Hitman 3, some tried to claim it was an "outlier" but since then the predictions have come true over and over again. It was just a matter of time.

Same thing. Just find it funny that our OP forgot to mention this. Probably better to let the little kids run in the playground

Again, I’m highlighting the difference in developer prowess.
Some developers are just more capable of getting the best from the hardware.

Insomniac are a prime example that’s all.

I do care, because for £500 I expect developers to get the best out of my box if they want my money.

Good for you. Really.

So the BC tools on the PS5 aren't as great as the BC tools as the Series X :pie_thinking:

Tools matter, but only when it favors your preferred narrative (y)

Tools have been used as an excuse too many times. BC sucks on the PS5 and no tool will fix that.

However I'm just happy that all my PS4 games will play well on the PS5 even though they won't get massive upgrades. Pretty sure playing games like TLOU2 and Ghosts with improved framerates is much better than having no BC at all.

Hopefully Sony will address this, if possible. There’s many games crying out for a patch.
I’m looking at you The Last Guardian!
I’m sure there was a PS5 ‘boost’ promo video doing the rounds last week that was posted on GAF that featured TLG in the highlight reel. I hope it gets the 60fps treatment.

Sorry - was Shadow of the Colossus

Heard it was the cost of having such a low level API. If they used a wrapper BC improvements would be much easier for them. It's not due to BC tools being broken or anything.

Not broken, that's not what I said at all. It's a serviceable solution that's not as impressive as Xbox's.

So the twitter says no PS5 version yet. So series x is backward compatible version.. they better be doing a next gen port as I got it for £21 and the console version looks a bit cack.

Really!? I haven’t heard of this. I really hope this does indeed get the 60fps treatment. TLG was pretty close to my favourite game of last gen, Bloodborne. Thank you 😊

A lot here havent done some research...
XboxOne games can be released either with the old XDK and with a Gen9aware Profile or with the new GDK.
A developer will be able to have specific gen9 configurations even if its just a Xbone game in BC mode.

PS5 is in most cases locked to the PS4 pro profile. Sonys BC solution just isnt as robust as the Microsoft BC solution.
Years of work and care pays off.

Cant blame the small devs here and its cool to see how honest they are.

Which means this isn’t similar to the tools “narrative” at all. You made it out like there was a double standard being applied when that isn’t the case.

Well the tools are not bad either because BC works fine on the PS5. It's just difficult to make BC titles take advantage of the hardware and that's due to how BC works in general on PlayStation. Much different than saying a system isn't performing to expectations due to broken tools.

I'm seeing people discussing these things unnecessary lately.
IMO Sony's BC works really well, just like intended. Why? Because it is what the name says it is, "Backwards Compatibility". These patches from PS4/PS4Pro only adds an additional option that it's less "PS5" and more "PS4Pro B". It's a "Performance Mode Plus".

It's naturally being compared, and criticized, with Microsoft's solution, but let's not forget that what are being compared is fundamentally different. What Microsoft is offering ( after years of investing paying off) is "Forward Compatibility".

Knowing and not forgetting this will prevent a lot of unnecessary discussion about why X doesn't do that, why Y don't does this, why Z works like that.

I wonder what the technical issues are on PS5? Based on many developer comments and the fans here it was always the easiest console to develop native games on. I'd figure the Xbox would have issues before PS5.
Don’t need to wonder... there is no PS5 version and it is running on PS5 like it was designed to run on PS4 Pro (aka BC).

No one said either tools were broken, simply that at the current state, the tools are limiting the console from running at full potential. This is from developers, not people pulling shit out their arse.

Here's just one of many statements.
"Sony kinda stuck with what worked, and their development software and tools were pretty good early on and this is something that people really don't see, all of this impacts the performance that the consumer gets," Puha explained. "Microsoft opted to change quite a lot of things which in the long run is probably good but it's just a bigger hurdle for us devs early on. We have to rewrite a bunch of things to really take advantage of specific features but that's just software development."

I thought you were a bit smarter than this, not going to lie

You thought it was a native game. I corrected you. It's known bc can cause tech issues.

Then you decided to bring up some unrelated console warring. So yeah, you're a wee bit senstivie in bc matters it seems
The devs said they disabled 4k mode. Is 4k mode something that can be enabled on PS5 BC since you are so much more knowledgeable? Devs didn't mention BC mode at all but there seems to be a general acceptance that this is simply the game running in BC mode on PS5. Perhaps you can explain the technical issues seeing how according to what is known about PS5 BC it running this game in PS4 mode and is working as intended. Either BC mode is locked in on PS5 or its not. I simply asked a question you took it as warring.

I don't need to tell you anything Mage lmao. You know full well what's happening here you're just playing the retard today for some reason

PS5 games are locked to either a PS4 or Pro profile. But you already knew this.

Yes, bitching about a group of people that's completely unrelated to the thread is warring, but again, i'm sure you already knew this

Is it the developer speaking or the social media manager?

Maybe you should go on twitter and ask these questions directly, I think it will help you make a decision as to whether it's worth you buying it on PS5 or not.

They probably tried to run it at 4k but with what hardware is accessible in the BC modes it didn't run well enough, so they cut the resolution down to a quarter.
Xbox can run the game 4k 60 even without a next gen patch.

I was interested in this game, but then I watched some gameplay and was put right off it. It seemed somehow really ... generic.

I mean, is it just me, or does this just look crap?

Dry your eyes mate. You might see what's in the title: 'current gen info to follow'.

What do you think that means?

And believe me I've read enough of your posts on this forum to know exactly the high school nerd group you'd fit nicely into (with all the other console warriors).
