its certainly nailed the directional audio...i was able to follow an enemy around a house from the outside that i could not see to line up the perfect ambush through a window and then i realised one of his buddies was behind me and managed to get the 2 for 1 without alerting the whole camp....first time since black ops 1 where i would say the audio is top notchJust got the official Xbox wireless headset yesterday. I'm impressed overall with the sound per dollar value. Atmos in this game makes a difference.
I've never heard the metric Sound Per Dollar.... But I like it. How many SpD's is it?Just got the official Xbox wireless headset yesterday. I'm impressed overall with the sound per dollar value. Atmos in this game makes a difference.
Nice win for Series X.
Didn't know the new battleground involved PS5 vs Series S.
Nice. Im going to look into it again. When it first got launched, the handful of places around me who actually got it were sold out. Will check again this week. Assuming it should be back in stock now.Just got the official Xbox wireless headset yesterday. I'm impressed overall with the sound per dollar value. Atmos in this game makes a difference.
i dont see any 12TF RDNA 2 vs 9TF RDNA 1.5 "difference" here
Personally I think the PS5 version looks better. Blacks should be black, not gray.
This is something that bothers me, this lack of contrast.
That aside, it's exactly like I predicted months before (and it should be obvious). RT heavy games will be the ones to show the SeX TFlops advantage. There's no way around it, more Flops, more Rays.

Enhanced Edition is new, it was released last month on PC, and is the next-gen update for consoles.Maybe I'm getting mixed up, but there was a thread about Metro Exodus Complete Edition PS5 at 4k/60 + RT.
Are Enhanced Edition games different?

The shitty old ass Xbox headset I have has the foam peeled off from the ear!
Yap could be os level issues like hypervisor or background tasks happening and probably fixable later.I still don't quite understand how we can keep having games where Xbox averages slightly higher resolution but the PS5 average slightly more consistent FPS.
You'd assume the DRS would simply scale down resolution to get a locked framerate if it has enough performance to get those higher resolutions right? Or they've just incorrectly set the DRS?
If it's the former, you do wonder if there's something at OS level that's causing it perhaps. How isolated are the parts of the system dedicated to the OS from the rest of the system dedicated to running the game? Is there a performance cost to having Quick Resume etc. What about an issue related to the SSD? Or could it just be a consequence to the set up of each systems GPU?
Let's be honest. You're not really willing to listen.Actually it still is PSV vs the XSX. Don't try and suggest the PSV is at the same peformance level as the XSX. That would be going back to the 4TF claims.
Edit: If I'm wrong I apologize. But I really need a good explanation on why the XSS is on par with the PS5. So far the multiplats don't indicate that nor do the specs but I'm willing to listen.
What changed?Wow, it's actually playable now with a controller, unlike the previous gen version.
2021 the first gen when we hear that higher res isn't good*Well it's not exactly surprising by DF. Even an Epic developer invited them to stop to this attitude about exalt the higher resolution in their analysis but nope. We are still here.
Let's be honest. You're not really willing to listen.
Pretending to do so will only waste someone's time.
Funny how:Played the game on PS5 (PS5 version) for an hour thoughts
-Visuals look nice.
-So many missing audio effects
-Where's the sound effect when punch infected creatures
-Where's the sound effect when I blow up train
-Where's the sound effect when i open doors
-Why's the game having so many missing audio effects in it's first hour
-No haptic feedback at all, just plain old rumble that's it and disappointing
-Takes a long time to load
-Terrible aiming and shooting mechanics despite the 60fps. So unresponsive when aiming and shooting. What's up with that?
Wish I could get a refund like how Steam does
It's not "more powerful" it it needs to drop frames in order to have an higher resolution. As expected. SeriesX is more powerful machine, but PS5 is competitive.
Good for you. But this thread is about the Series and PSV versions.Good for you and the other dozens of people. Rather than buy my series x without a VRR TV, I should have just bought a £3000 PC? Haha
Going below 1080p to achieve this. Sonybros are very quick to have A laugh when this is happening with xss, when ps5 is delivering ps3 gen resolutions it doesn’t matter anymoreSo glad performance is the #1 priority on PS5. Even Alex seemed uncharacteristically buoyant over how silky it is.
That’s ok, you enjoy playing your 1080p version with ssssstutter and have fun. No one is stopping you. I know what I prefer. If it were the other way around I’d call the ps5 version shite, no qualms about it.Going below 1080p to achieve this. So what are you crying about like a 5yo?i play on vrr screen so no stutter for me
also full atmos experience in this game is amazing, from what I read xsx also wins in terms of audio in this game
Nice win for Series X.
You mean up to 20%, but ignoring stuttering crap on Xbox.
***
XSX stretching its legs. Upto ~35% higher pixel output is nothing to sneeze at. Of course a certain subset is trying its hardest to clutch at literally less than %5 at worse fps (but they wont mention when the opposite is true)
assurdum and F FatKingBallman are high as fuck on the copium right now.
If an Xbox brethren have PS5 and SX, no VRR display, but wants solid performance, where should they go?
Xbox obviously.
They both drop frames but even if you don't have VRR yet the Xbox can be forced on a system level to output at 120hz halving frame times which will again give you a smoother ride with that massive resolution advantage.
Y
You can also force 120Hz in PS5 OS too. Massive resolution advantage. LOL
Obviously if that person doesn't have a VRR capable display, it's highly unlikely to support 120Hz as well.Xbox obviously.

In that case, max is 60Hz. Now where should they go if they want solid performance but they have a choice between: PS5 and XSX?
That didn't answer my question though. You need to keep revising the standard down, plenty of 120hz sets without VRR and monitors. Maybe when you get down to a 480p CRT the resolution advantage won't matter anymore and you'll achieve parity.
80% res advantage says who?I know the two systems are close so there shouldn't be an 80% resolution advantage for the XSX. It just goes against what the specs and the bom say.
Again it's not 30% all the time. Just depends of the scenario. Still this argumentation about higher resolution via DRS it's really childish. Can you post a screen from the DF where the series X is noticeable sharper? It's tiring read this discussion based just to a math percentage. Just show that dramatic difference at leastNot in terms of performance
PS5 doesn't perform better because VRR makes XSX perform better with 30% higher resolution. Also, XSX loads faster too.
That didn't answer my question though.
Most of the people I know, like all of my cousins except me have a max 60Hz display.
Where should they go if they want solid performance given the choice between: PS5 and XSX for this game?
No you can't, you can set that option but the game has to support it.
You know very little obviously.
No. This is the perfect case which show the CUs advantage on series X. And considered the difference in CUs it's pretty impressive to see ps5 stay so close with more stable FPS considered the "lowered" 36 CUs setup Vs the bigger one at 52 CUs. It's practically the same graphic setting just lower resolution via DRS. Not bad for a 399 console. Just look what you have sacrificed at 299. The ps5 DE has really an outstanding value in terms of performance. In a past interview the developers said this:
"Our current frames are only about 10% raster and 90% compute on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X".
PS5 have a advantage in rasterization, but it means nothing here, this is the perfect case for the SeX to show that 20% extra Flops. So really, with time mults will perform better on the SeX, mults that use these new technologies (unless Unreal 5 saves the day?).
(but at the same time don't this also means that the Virgin is with it's days counted?)
Here there's a new and complete blog explaining how the game was updated and ported to the new consoles.

Impressive win for xbox this one!
This is what I expected performance wise between the two consoles.
So I would go with the Xbox as you at minimum get a 1080p Full HD image quality, like they say the sub Full HD image on PS5 also has a knock on effect on AA etc. Unless your cousin also has a 720p TV still .
DF pointed out that PS5 is noticeably smoother in areas where SX had significant stutter... So, shouldn't PS5 be the obvious choice for those with no VRR + 120Hz if they want solid performance? EDIT: Btw, it's a 1080p TV.Solid performance is on both, sometimes the Xbox has a framerate advantage and sometimes PS5 at a lot lower resolution. Since the drops are reasonably small like down to 57fps you probably wouldn't notice much anyway, I didn't see any screen tearing mentioned.

I'm saying higher resolution it's not good? The only thing I contest it's the noticeable advantage, the dramatic better sharpness discourse spit out just for a math formula because still I beg to see a single capture which put the ps5 version on shame, by the same people: I bet my balls without the pixels counts, hardly they would be capable to distinguish the higher resolution in such setup without their precious DF analysis. And the more funny thing the same subjects call the series S an immense value for his price but why it doesn't work the same narrative for the ps5 too? The series S shows the immense hypocrisy of the same side which are so desperate to exalt any victory which is far from outstanding.IMO.2021 the first gen when we hear that higher res isn't good*
* just because PS5 cant reach higher
60fps certainly helps, but the problems of the base game were way beyond just the framerate. Something was really fucked with the controls and precise aiming was nearly impossible no matter how much one toyed with the settings. What changed?
XSX could easily drop the frame rate 20% to match the PS5s res...or even just 10% and not drop that the odd frame but still have plenty of overhead left.I would call maintaining a smoother FPS a win. Wouldn’t you?
I'll bet you didn't expected worse framerate and stuttering mess in XSX. Impressive win indeed
I would go with PS5 with better framerate and it is not a stuttering mess like XSX. Also, like they say, 1015p is minimum on PS5
Oh. So it's not the 30 FPS the cause of the imprecise controls? Weird. Anyway another issue are the loading times. I don't get it why on pc are half of the console ones. This engine has some bizzarre issue.60fps certainly helps, but the problems of the base game were way beyond just the framerate. Something was really fucked with the controls and precise aiming was nearly impossible no matter how much one toyed with the settings.
