Yup, sounds about right for how I would picture someone that would get into a heated argument over space fox tits.

Edit: I wanted to call him a nonce, but randoms can't comment.

As much as I liked Rivet, I cant help but think that politics kept the story from being a bit more interesting. There was a pretty surprising lack of chemistry between Ratchet and Rivet. They were kept apart for pretty much the entire game for some bizarre reason. It's almost like they didnt even want any kind of sexual tension building between the two of them despite the two literally being the only remaining people of their species.

What's bizarre is that Disney cartoons have had romance since forever. Cindrella, Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Lion king, Aladdin, etc. If Disney didnt shy from romance in the fucking 50s then why are video game developers creating asexual characters in 2021? The story felt very stale and I think a bit part of that is because these characters werent allowed to interact with each other.

Well when you think about it...

Rivet is alternate dimension Ratchet. They showed other dimension alternates and I don't think any of them gender swapped so it's kinda weird Ratchet's did.

It's embarassing, it's normal to disagree with coworkers, but you must be pure garbage to throw shit publicly to your former coworkers and studio and try to link it to sexual harassment or toxicity because your bosses disagree with you in a random topic.

They think a female version of an antropomorphic alien should have antropomorphic visibly female body to differientiate it more from its male version. It's normal, and there's nothing wrong on antropomorphic alien cartoon characters having hips or boobs. If you disagree, it's ok to politely mention it to them and debate it in a chill way. But if after listening to you the bosses (and the ones in charge of deciding how characters are) still think the same, shut up and do whatever they asked you to do.

Nice to see he doesn't work at Insomniac anymore.

Some little hetero sexual tension or romance in a game? Or in a modern Disney movie? That is sexist, homophobic, racists, alt-right and nazi opression! What is the next crazy criminal thing you will ask for? To put typical antropomorphic female body traits to an antropomorphic female body? OMG, you must be cancelled quick, you're too toxic and problematic! :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Anyone else miss the 90s and the 00s where we simply didn't know about the existence of clowns like this? They were better times.

That's because these were your game developers back then:

main-qimg-b4b4257c104a72c16e69287521e695a4.webp

Passionate video game geeks with a dream bouncing off each other, eating pizza, and drinking mountain dew whilst coding with the bros.

Now, it's more like this:

proxy-image-33.jpeg

(the fact that they're all women isn't the problem, but you see what I mean.)

These people don't really care about the franchises they're developing on. They're merely using them as springboards to supplant whatever inane ideologies they've been concocting over the last decade and sucking the soul out of what used to be passion projects for video game ardents. It's sad.

Wish that could be said as a joke but, well, I'm ready to batten down the hatches for this to be a regular occurrence with first-party Sony games going forward, sadly. I was under hopeful impression TLOU2 would be an outlier but that might not be the case.

Combined with the censorship of niche Japanese games (and in some cases even major AAA Japanese games) either outright being enforced or pressured implicitly on devs/pubs to self-censor on the platform, and it's not a very encouraging look.

Not surprisingly, this topic is playing differently on another forum:

Of course; they will simp for anything that can act as a disrespect towards a form of natural female beauty.

Someone should tell them and this ex-dev that they're discriminating against women with naturally apparent breasts and hips, who I'd say make up the vast majority of women on the planet 😲

The guy has a pic of purple glasses. with purple shirt.

there is nothing else to add. probably one of the queERA members too. They all belong to the same shitty group.

And nothing wrong with the character design. she is a female. nothing wrong with showing feminine behavior. enough with this bullshit making women look and act like men.

We are attracted to them for being females. not because they look like guys.

How did this woke/sjw stuff creep in, seemingly out of nowhere? What was the mode of transmission? Considering I don’t watch TV or movies, I’m guessing this.

I work in the industry. Literally not a single one of the women I work with is offended about stuff like this. If anything, they tend to push for feminine-looking characters more than the guys do. This ex-Insomniac dude does not represent women and it’s sexist and narcissistic of him to pretend he does.

Ratchet's Game Director and Art Director wanted Rivet to look feminine. This guy and two others did not. Sounds like any other workplace disagreement but the fact that he publicly throws his bosses under the bus just rubs me the wrong way. There is nothing wrong with what they did. They are the directors. It's THEIR game, but this guy is making it sound like they were sexist and blatantly uses the Blizzard Activision sexual harassments lawsuits to make a point that there are other types of sexual discrimination taking place in the industry that we dont know about. As if making a female character feminine will somehow lead to hostile workplace environments and sexual harassments of women.

Pretty shameful stuff. This is why devs shouldnt even worry about female characters imo. You will never please these idiots.

That last quote is something. No, putting tits on rivet harms no one. If you are taking offense to it, you have other issues that you need to get sorted out.

Not surprised it would go different on a cesspool of anti-gender freaks.

This makes no sense Rivet doesn't even look femanine.

So is he complaining because the outcome? And he wanted something even more androgynous? Or even dumber being mad that he got his way but didn't get by default?

It's weird creeps like this seem to gravitate to stuffing this into things targeted to kids like they get some sick gratification from it.

Never realized it while playing the game but now that you mention it....seems indeed it didnt make sense why there was absolutely no sexual tension between these two. I just assumed that they would eventually end up together only, but didnt realize the sheer lack of romantic chemistry. Maybe politics indeed affected the game that way.

Guarantee the ones who threw their boss under a bus over something this retarded were definitely NOT gen x people.
FFS, Throw THEM under a bus; like for real.

Why is the game industry letting these snakes in?

Anyway I would be very careful around men writing all that crap if I were a woman, huge red flag.
Yep, they're usually the ones who project first before getting exposed later. The Twitter ninjas are probably already scavenging through his archive of tweets as we speak.

Part and parcel with the platform, that's the risk you take posting this kind of stuff up there.

Meanwhile at Activision

They were just wanking to hentai and furry porn, quietly.
The internet has brought together certain people that traditionally would been complete basement swelling loners in any other time. This is what happens when these people gather together even virtually

Twitter mainly. Unhappy, mentally ill and frustrated people have jumped on Twitter to unleash hate on everyone and try to take people down, in order to feel better about themselves. Using woke nonsense has proven to be the most effective, since they pretend to fight a good fight with it. Basically they took the 'pretending to be something you're not on the internet' to extreme levels. Hypocrisy at it's finest.

What is that guy on about? He's acting like Rivet was running around the game only dressed in a miniscule bikini with her huge breasts always on the cusp of falling out.
He appears to be a professional neckbeard. Most likely one that still has his virginity. She's not sexualized at all? Seems like projection to me.
