Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
I'm assuming you don't mean me. I'm not worried about any of it. I've been around the block enough times to know how this works. I was just making it abundantly clear to the person I was replying to that their data is already in the hands of others whether or not they "consent" to it.
And I loved your work on it too.

The problem isn't the feature itself, but the fact it is needed at all.

How far did we come as a species that developers have a real need to shield people from pixel spiders.

Well you know... I'm actually quite scared of the "Avengers" so I would've love to see a version of the movie without any of them in it.
Which, let's be honest, would also instantly made those movies a much better watch.

Look... It's ok to not want homophobic slurs or any other "bigotry" discourse in games... But this is just too much. Spiders are animals, if you can't deal with 3D animals in games, you should see a therapist, because you need help ASAP.

Let me try to explain.

Imagine if you have fear to driving so you will ask to remove cars from Gran Turismo? Fear of dark? Remove all the dark scenes from games.

I agree that games should say at description what it has that can cause some issues (like spiders) but the game should be the game and not have something disabled because somebody can’t play it.

If you have fear of spider you need to avoid spiders… so avoid games with spiders.

The issue is that games doesn’t tell you in description and not that it doesn’t have a “option” to remove a feature lol

If you will carter and remove every phobia in the world then you will have no game at all.
I would agree with these if the argument was that spiders should just not appear in games.

But... its an optional feature. And one we have seen used in Grounded. Now maybe out of the 1 million+ people who played the game, only 20 or or used the arachnophobia option. But that's still 20 more people who are able to enjoy the game than would otherwise do so.

What's the problem with an optional feature that allows more people to enjoy a game? More people enjoying games is a good thing!

Random thought:

When MOBA issues thier first official forum survey to hear the users voices as it seems they have done on all thier other acquisitions….

What’s gonna happen since it’s abundantly clear everyone there has already voiced thier concerns stating they want change in moderation policies, add reactions to posts, and signatures added… all of which the moderation team has denied them?

Resetera with a mod team acting professionally would be the antithesis to the site’s founding and soul but looks to be the sites future…. That plus tons of pop up adds

I'm sure there will be a bunch of seldomly used profiles suddenly sign in all at once to tell MOBA what a great job the current team is doing.

I’m all for accessibility options.

Remove spiders is not one of them… that is the point… spider is an animal like any other else… you don’t need to devs to change their design to allow people with fear of spider to play it.

I have fear of frogs… I can’t touch ou get near 2 meter one… it is crazy my blood pressure even goes high when I see one… I enter in panic.

But that doesn’t make me want games to not have frogs.

I believe… I don’t know for sure.

My mother has frogphobia (that name exists?) and where we live there is a lot them (they even try to enter into ours homes) and my mother when I was very small kinda of transferred that fear/panic to me… so I grow up with that fear/panic on my mind and I can’t get out of it.

In practical sense it doesn’t affect my life because I leaned by the hard way (being scared by them ) to avoid places that probably I will find a frog… I’m a bit educated in frogs due that… well at least Brasilian’s frogs.

I tell you I’m not used to have nightmares but when I dream with frogs I consider to be in a nightmare… one of the worst I remember even today like a real thing is at my youth (25 years ago) when I dreamed that I get down in a cave with tons of frogs… it was surreal… I woke up without can breathe fine.

Gotcha. Just curious. I'm the same way with bats for similar reasons. But I got batman on my side 😁. Lol. And bats fly. Fuck them

The good thing is that I try to incentive my child to get used to frogs… I don’t get near them (I actually can’t.. I lose the control of my body due panic) but I tell him to get near them and even play with them… I have no issue being more than 2 meter from a frog so I watch them lol

The frogs near us are inoffensive and they doesn’t have poison so it is fine.

I don’t want my boy and girl to inherit that phobia like I did.

But they're so cute.

Not when they are in your house and flying at your face at 2 AM when going to see what a noise is. I armored up and tried getting him out the door or window with no success. Then the next morning you gotta go searching for them. Found one under a mop in kitchen. Put a hermit cage tank over him and had to slide it to door. Felt so bad cause thought I was suffocating him. So kept lifting the corner to give him air. He was cute. Made a make shift ramp and launched him out. Cat got one and put hole in its wing. Felt so bad but saved him as well. This was all when I was a like 12.

Man, it’s so funny when people talk about the hints they have no idea about, kinda like their resident ‘M&A banker’ wanting to raise a seed round for an online forum.

GDPR applies to all the EU citizens regardless of where they are located. It’s also a very ‘hands off’ regulation requiring companies to disclose how the data they get is being used, not necessarily to forbid them using that data.

I'm pretty sure you've mentioned that you're from Brazil? You have a pretty terrifying collection of arachnids, insects and wildlife! I'm so grateful for I live in the UK as barely anything is dangerous here.

But would it count if it was given away for free as a part of a digital asset that was just bought at over 4 million bucks? lol
Yup. Note the use of future tense, because technically, their data already has been sold. Their user data is part and parcel with the site, and the site was just sold to a corporation. No amount of doublespeak is going to change that fact.

Fare enough. Also there is the rabies issue.

Uh oh, if they spot you outside of the asylum you are gone!

I’m pretty sure the data is classified and treated differently based on risk, so something like a public forum post would be low risk compared private medical information tied to someone’s actual name/docs. At least that’s what I seem to recall based on a crash course I had years ago, I’ve never actually had to apply that info professionally so it’s fuzzy

As i said, the problem isn't the adding of the feature but the fact that there are 20 or so hypotetical people out there so fragile they can't handle a virtual spider on the other side of a screen.

God help them if they ever see a spider in their house, because there's no arachnophobia option in real life.
