Halo Infinite Multiplayer is out NOW

Its fun, though I don't like the jumping much but I never did in Halo. Battle Rifle is fairly powerful mid or far ranged. When I picked one up in my second game it went far better.

Looks good even on S. Though I would avoid Quality mode, always go 60fps. ADS unzooming, I have the same issue, perhaps its because getting hit or a bug?

Haven’t had a chance to play it yet, but the map selection looks a bit thin on the ground. Here’s hoping for a few more (and not all forge attempts).

It seems like 343 have made a great game. The reaction seems almost unanimously positive and the things people have reservations about could well be waved away by acknowledging that 343 are calling this a Beta.

I do hope that they increase progression through the battlepass as vs something like Apex it does feel slow.

But the way they could do is fix the scoring on objective games, and by that, I mean incentivise playing the objective. It's been a problem forever to see people play Slayer no matter what the game type is.

I honestly think they ought to try removing K/D in those games. Or give a giant xp boost for convincingly winning an objective game with individual boosts for scoring / stealing flags, etc. Or just reduce the value of kills on the scoreboard. Something, anything.

This is all of course only a problem when playing with randoms. It makes me a little sad to think of the fun I used to have with Halo, but sadly the guys I used to play with are never on anymore, boo hoo, etc.

I need to improve I’m like 35 percent accuracy on average on console with the pad. Gonna jump on pc after work tonight to see how I do. Loving it so far. Not feeling oddball so need to just play tdm etc.

great job 343.

People are forgetting this is a Beta, maybe its so all modes are full and tested etc. I hope I'm right as I just like tdm and Slayer. I'm must say though I quite enjoy Oddball.
I hope not. I don’t like how fragmented playlists become in Halo games and in the end it always takes ages to find games in certain match types. I’m happy with how they’ve done it, 3 modes: casual, BTB & ranked with a big mixture of game types in each. They’ve nailed it IMO.

If my ads/zoom could stop unzooming for fucking reason that'd be great
It unzooms (descopes) when you get shot.

Pretty fun game. I was getting stomped initially, but played for a couple of hours and started holding my own. I'm so used to games where ADS is the way to go, it's taking some adjusting to not always do that, especially considering my aim just stinks. I'm not sure there's enough here (as it stands) to keep me playing, but I can see the appeal. Personally, being unable to specify a game mode in quick play and the unfulfilling/slow progression system put a damper on the experience for me. I'll definitely be digging into the campaign though.

Imagine all the revenue possibilities that microst is creating with this shit.

Selling games to peeps who don't want to sub, selling games on steam, selling game pass subscriptions, then selling cosmetics and season passes etc.

Genius business moves but I'm just here to play lol.

Is it giving you the blue screen? I had to update the game before it would launch beyond that.
Not even that, it doesn’t even show opened, no window, no screen, nothing, it just closes suddenly seconds after I clicked Play on steam, which goes from “Play” to “Stop” to go back to “Play” again, as if I never clicked the button, I saw in the source for hope that Dump test file generates a temp which then gets deleted when the process stops, maybe it has to do with that... It happens in Xbox app version too, tho I can’t see those files to see the sabe behavior, just like steam, no signs of the game booting, it closes itself before that happens... I’d be lucky to see a bsod lol

Arbitrary bars? No, these bars unlock new cosmetics things for me and the battle pass. Cosmetics are important to me and I enjoy progressing in seasons.

So not sure how that is arbitrary and progression is part of the fun.

You gotta be trolling right?

No I'm not trolling.

This is an FPS where you can't even see the cosmetics on your character while playing and none of that stuff makes any gameplay difference.

Not every game needs to be a hamster wheel.

You can say same thing about CoD Warzone and Apex Legends... they're also FPS where you can't see your character and same with Overwatch and Overwatch has some of the best skins.

Also, when your in a vehicle in Halo Infinite you CAN see yourself cause it becomes 3rd person lol.

Also, you see your weapons at all times and Halo Infinite has quite customizable weapons.

People wear cool cosmetics to be seen by others more than wanting to see themselves.

Highly disagree with your opinion man sorry

No offense, but this looks like a college grads passion project compared to Vanguard. Progression, graphics, weapon handling, level design. They're not in the same league. Mind you, this is coming from someone who has adored the Halo franchise, but no amount of rose colored tinting can mask the fact that modern FPSs are 15 years ahead of this. That's not to say you wont have fun with it, but more as a nostalgia trip back to when you used to use tunneling software to play bootleg LAN games with your mates on Halo 1.
hahahagga

Its intentional, how does it make any sense that you'd remain scoped in while someone is firing on you ? Its your teams job to provide cover/distractions for their sniper to work.

I'm not going to discuss this, but you're right. It makes perfect sense given the other stupid shit in the game.

Pretty sure it's a Halo thing. Other FPS games add flinch when you're getting shot or something similar.
It's obviously a halo thing since no other game is that fucking stupid.

It's a good game. Looks good, runs super smooth (4K, high details, on a 3070) and controls really well.

Online shooters just aren't for me though. I'm really looking forward to the campaign now.

So far, I’m definitely enjoying the game. It’s fun, graphics are good and it feels like Halo.

That being said, there are some things here I’m not huge on.

The controls need a bit of tinkering with because they don’t feel great to me. MCC feels absolutely solid to me and I didn’t need to change a thing, not sure how I can make Infinite feel similar, any tips would be great!

The maps are gorgeous but some of the game type choices for them are strange, Strongholds on the tech test map is god awful and would be better suited to larger maps. CTF on the more urban of the test maps is great fun though!

Also, is anyone else get a weird shimmering look on the menus on Series X?

I’m liking it so far but I miss the PVE/PVPVE modes of Halo 5, I hope they are added soon because that’s where I sank most of my time in H5.

The core gameplay is perfect for my taste, people were comparing it to Unreal Tournament and to me it’s a compliment, it certainly is slower paced than most recent MP games.

The best part is that the game has its own identity and doesn’t try to chase trends, I love how different it feels but for sure it won’t be for everyone.

I can't be the only one that thinks that 'seasons' are pure cancer.
I suppose at least with the way MS are handling passes and progression, it's not quite as FOMO inducing this time around. Though I will say, the levelling of the BP sucks when you can only earn XP through challenges. They should add a standard XP progress also.

Besides, new seasons and new content keep the game feeling a bit more fresh. So why not follow the seasonal model?

I like it but I really wish all my score ingame counted as XP in my battle pass. That would have really hooked me.

Love the MP, really brings back Halo 1 memories. I hope they bring back Blood Gulch. I love that it's pure gun skill, no stupid meta loadouts, no perks etc. Just pure gungame, sure you have power weapons and other boosters to pick up but that's limited and fits the arena play.

Well balances multiplayer, love it.

So 3 BTB and 7 Arena? Aight.

The optimisation for this is so bad. 2080, Ryzen 5800x, running everything on Medium and getting 90fps at 1440p.

Total of 10 maps, yeah. I don't see anything about new maps being added in Season 1, but they said they have a bunch of events and content lined up since Season 1 is expanded. Season 2 should definitely have them at least.

It's not progression though. It's just for cosmetics. This isn't like prestige in COD.
How is prestige in COD more progression than unlocking cosmetics? Prestige is just a number in most COD which low and behold give you cosmetic banners or emblems at best. I find that unlocking content is part of the fun of games and if that is slow it's on purpose to sell you shit.
Another example with absolutely grindy progression is GTSport. Takes forever to accumulate Cr. The RNG in it gives me crappy duplicate cars which it then blocks me from selling for anything at all. You can only delete it.
