Sony released next gen games, Xbox didn't.

No one cares if Sony hasnt released a game, since april. MS haven't released any game for their console, until MS flight sim released in july this year. Same situation.

Difference is, 1 released next gen game, while the other havent.

I've finished halo infinite on pc last week.
As I said - the gameplay with grappling hook and shooting are the best and only good parts of that game for me.
But I still wouldn't say its goat shooting mechanics or movement. You move extremely slow in this game. it makes grappling hook essential.
Shooting felt too stiff and you couldn't always see if the enemies get hit or not. The visual feedback (sparks, blood splatter etc) on some enemies is non existent. Feels like shooting a sponge.
Shooting always felt good in bungie/343 games but for me never exceptional.

Which shooters do you like?

I am a big fan of weighty yet smooth feeling shooting mechanics.

It feels similar to Doom Eternal in that it offers no iron sights, just a slight zoom, and a similar feel.

I loved Doom 2016. Eternal a bit less since I think it went too arcade.
Obviously classics like Fear. I also like Gears shooting/gameplay a lot. Metro Exodus also feels very meaty.
Call of Duty shooting was always top tier for me too but not meaty. more fast paced.
Max Payne 2, Return to Castle Wolfenstein (godlike).
Control has amazing shooting but it's super boring and spongy. Halo Infinite was better
But even stuff like Uncharted 4 had really stashing shooting/combat.


But now that I think about it - Fear and Return to Castle wolfenstein probably top tier for me

Last year, they just released a gaming console that can play 99.99% of the previous console's catalogue. Same games have even improved performance and/or resolution. In the PS+ sub,you were also given 20 or so games from PS4.

There's also this rumour that we will have PSNow and PS+ combined into one that will allow you to stream PS1-PS3 games.

Unfortunate turn of events for Sony really, the pandemic and resulting chip shortage is starting to hurt them badly, now Xbox is starting to get more mindshare with GP and with no ps5 to buy anywhere this just gives Xbox a free pass to jump back into the game. Microsoft are really lucky it turned out like this because had there been no pandemic and no chip shortage this gen would have probably ended up like last gen for them ala Sony completely outselling them on all fronts and removing them from the picture since everyone would have been too busy playing their ps5.

Moving the goalposts to profit is a weak cope, since Microsoft doesn't share profits for any of their subdivisions. TXbox has record revenue and record console sales though, but that obviously doesn't count for agenda reasons

I think Sony is doing fine but I'm glad MS is far more competitive. Giving gamers more options makes platform holders work harder for our money. No one wants a repeat of launch PS3 era Sony or SNES era Nintendo and certainly not X1 launch era MS.

I've said it before, but Sony really should have followed Microsoft and made a Series S type of console. Microsoft is cleaning up with the Series S and gaining marketshare since the PS5 is not readily available (neither is the XSX to be fair). With Sony starting to port games to PC a Series S type of console would have worked perfectly. They already have the port house to port to PC. They could easily use those same studios to downport to the weaker console. Oh well. Sony did not have the foresight Microsoft did at the start of this gen.

That includes game sales which Xbox doesn't have, ps4 numbers which increases PlayStation game sales. That is how revenue works. 75m-120m Ps4 numbers skews heavily for PlayStation.

It has nothing to do, with 1st party output.

This gen, both consoles are starting from the ground. it will depend on who can make their console enticing.

And it was supposed to be included which means they spent time and resources for no reason.

Game Pass has me and my buddy hooked. We usually do a co-op gaming session every week or two and that's mostly thanks to the Game Pass library.

I'd venture to say that the majority of my gaming time on XSX is via BC (playing through the Max Payne games currently) and while it is wonderful, I just don't think it is important for the success of a platform. If it were more profitable for publishers and the platform holders, more effort would be spent into adding support for more titles or enhancing existing ones. It's bitter sweet.

It can. That’s the point. It’s not just settings lowered. They are removing features that are considered next gen and account for the promised experience that isn’t being delivered.
