For sure, this will never end. Why ? Because the world changing and all of that is desired politically.

You want the next switch 2 ? You gonna wait for it in a waiting list. That the future... Sad but that what we gonna get... Face of this industry will change forever, they will force Streaming, that gonna be our only way to consume video game in the future because politics want that.

New Fabs are being built, more investment than ever being made. And the market is readjusting to the higher demand.
If fact, there's a good chance that at some point there will be more offer than demand. Especially if cryptos fall.

No way that will happen. There are too many billion dollar companies (outside of gaming) that rely on those chips and they will start pouring money into fixing the issues if it goes past 2022.

Yeah. This just proves that price does not matter.
There is no reason why nvidia should ever sell 4080,5080 and so on for 700usd like they planned for 3080.
All the stock will disappear in 2 minutes no matter the price. This is sadly proven in last 2 years.

As for consoles - I think Sony is now safe to return at least to 600usd for next console. But thankfully, there is still xbox finally fighting well so there is good incentive to both parties to be competitive.

Car dealers are realizing now they can just charge whatever they want above sticker and people will pay it because they need cars. Nvidia/ Sony/ MS watching people happily pay way over MSRP for their products from scalpers. Grocers seeing people pay $37/lb for beef tenderloin because they’ll just pay whatever they’re asked.

We’re about to enter an era of people just ruthlessly fucking each other for a penny even more than usual.

Thankfully that’s why there is the department of agriculture and consumer services, the ftc, and other agencies that regulate unscrupulous market practices.

the problem is they bundle it with another controller, charging station, headset and I think 1 game or 2 for 3500AED (around 950 USD)

When people keep telling me that SONY has the best offering of 400 USD, I don't want to pay more than that.

Where are they then? A dealer tried to get me to pay $40k for a honda accord with a sticker price of $31k last month. I was told the dealers can charge whatever they want since they own the cars they sell. Meat prices right now are absolutely insane. If nvidia launches their next cards at a baseline of $300 higher nobody will bat an eye and they will still sell out instantly.

Mainly talking about consumables…not assets like cars and computers. I’m not entirely knowledgeable on this but I believe there are certain things that are subject to regulation, and other that aren’t. That’s why no scalping gas during emergencies, etc. You’d have to look up what the FDA has jurisdiction over. Regarding the cars…unfortunately I stand with the owners on that one. I’m sure there’s a rising cost on the backend right now for them to continue garnering supply and they have to pass that on somewhere, and have to remain competitive.

I could agree, that China roaming around Taiwan is danger to chip manufacturing, that's why companies are building factories in different parts of the world, however there is no worldwide "new world order" political motive happening.

If there is money to be made, you can be sure more gpu maker will be joigning the party, the first one to increase their output will be the winner. And I want to remind you there is several semiconductor manufacturers company that are expanding or building a new ones right now.
I think at one point in the near future we will have too much stock :messenger_sunglasses:

They aren’t doing shit for car prices. My brother is in management at a big Ford dealer and they are literally just penciling in new prices $10k above MSRP and people are paying. That’s $10k pure profit for the dealers. Loaded vehicles will be $100k standard within 5 years at this rate.

You’re 99% right. The 1% that I’m scared of is that companies see this as potential reason to pivot their business model…and then We start the slow process of a bunch of companies following suit and the slow metamorphosis to streaming/automated deliveries/etc. only gets accelerated.

You sound super depressive, why are you thinking like this? The road is bumpy but things are still getting built and sales records are getting broken, the demand is just too high for the factory output but new factories are getting built.

Almost as if there was no chip shortage and it’s just corporations using it as an excuse to wage a supply/demand proxy price war.

This is the new normal. It is not specific to video game electronics. It is only going to get worse. How else is a company supposed to continue to increase their profit margins, by making better longer lasting products LOL?! This is the inevitable outcome people warned about by deregulation and not adding regulations to emerging new markets. It’s the Wild West we’re corporations get to “self regulate” meaning they get to do whatever they please and now even have taken the supply and demand power away from the consumer.

Want to fix the problem? Get a time machine and go back and actually listen to those that were sounding the alarm bells instead of burying heads in the sand for the sake of making our lives lazier.

Shrugs I bought 3 PS5s and 1 GPU for standard retail price. I could have got more but didn't bother.

I actually like the shortage as I just resell for profit which means I get what I want for free with extra money.

I paid full price for a PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4. But with PS5 thanks to the shortage I got it for free by reselling 2 and made a bit extra on top

Some days i wonder if its even fucking worth it, this shit fucking world we live in now. Crypto won, nft’s won, corprations and rich fucks got their unregulated market.
