Another thing, on the topic of Apple:

Apple actually sells Dualsense controllers on their website

Could this be further proof of Apple getting in bed with PlayStation? Maybe an effort to bring PS games to Apple Arcade?

Not sure if it’s bigger than this deal though…

PS Now is expected to be released on mobile somewhere this year, and many current and past mobile games can be played with a pad. And as mentioned in the website, you can use it to play PS games via Remote Play.

Only thing "bigger" than MS buying Call of Duty and Blizzard for 70 Billion US American dollars would be the formation of a Japanese conglomerate merging some combination of Sony, Nintendo, Square, Capcom, Sega, Konami's IP, etc...

Take2 just acquired Zynga for $12 billion. They were probably worth $20 billion before this.

MS had $137 billion cash on hand so they have around half of that left still. But would they spend another $35 billion on another gaming company.

I expect a smaller deal like Sega or something under $10 billion.
No way MS makes anymore big gaming purchases. The shareholders will have heart attacks. They just halved MS cash in hand.

If it's any more multi billion dollar acquisitions, then we're almost certainly staring down the barrel of a monopoly if antitrust laws get circumvented
Antitrust laws, where?
Even adding Activision, MS doesn't have any monopoly in any gaming market or area. In fact they won't even be market leaders anywhere. I don't see why antitrust laws should be applied here.

Yeah, what could possibly be bigger?

It depends, does Gaben has enough money or does he want a bit more for his retirement? He may retire soon and I'm pretty sure MS would be interested to get Steam, a VR headset and their portable PC plus some extra PC games and IPs. MS would pay even more for it: they would get basically the monopoly of the PC market, the future of the handhelds and a top tier VR to compete with Sony.

Like, even fanboy wet dream scenarios like Sony acquiring Square Enix or Microsoft buying Sega would be less significant than this, right? Would a Take Two acquisition even be bigger?
Square, EA, Take Two or Sega would be way cheaper than Activision.

Activision Blizzard has way more current and old IPs, generates way more revenue than the other ones, it's a top publisher on mobile and people from China and Korea (trendy markets for top gaming companies) love them. Plus are huge on eSports. The other ones are way under them in basically all areas.

I could see Sony buying From Software and making their games exclusive. Just a hunch.

This is nowhere as big though.

Nothing really competes with a $70B acquisition. Not even Sony announcing a purchase of Square would be on the same level as this.

Game Pass appearing on PlayStation is a possibility, but it doesn't have the same megaton impact as this purchase.

The game has been forever changed and Microsoft, which started with the Bethesda purchase, has shown they'll leverage their enormous wealth, which *very* few companies can compete against to make their console the premiere choice.

They *say* they'll continue to publish(and did with Minecraft), but I don't buy it. I think those franchises in AB are gone from PS once the ink has dried.

They are literally the second richest company in the world and on track to surpass Apple and become the first.
Market cap at 2,6 trillion dollars.

They aren't richer than Apple. Apple got at least double the amount of cash on hand. Apple also make nearly double profit of MS every year. Your deluding yourself if you think they gonna surpass Apple anytime soon.

He was referring to market cap. Wasn't more than 3 months ago Microsoft last was most valuable company in the world.

Valve would be a real good buy, and their valuation is a fraction of Activision's. But they're also a private company and I doubt they would sell.

I don't understand why anyone worth what Gabe is worth would ever sell anything. At a certain point it's like having infinity dollars and someone offering you infinity times two. How does your lifestyle change from being worth 5 billion versus 20 billion?

I don't know, but I guess Gabe will have to retire at some point because of his wealth and age.

I mean.. honestly... there isn't much that could be bigger.

MS just bought the biggest company out there.

I do wonder if MS was forced into it because Sony is about to do something big.
Something like Sony buying GTA6 Exclusivity could have forced MS to buy Call of Duty.
Only thing I could think of is MS buying Take-Two.

I literally just wrote that they are the SECOND richest company in the world trailing after Apple:

And "cash on hand" is not the ultimate measure of wealth. The total value of your assets is the dominant factor.

Weren't there Rumors a little while back about Disney possibly aquiring Sony Just so they could have the Spiderman and associated character rights since Sony wasnt willing to sell them outright.

Probably bullshit but it would definitely be bigger

Sony won't come near a deal such as Activision. They can't afford it.

Apple buying Sony would make a lot of sense.

IIRC Sony makes the cameras in the iPhone. Apple would gut Sony's phone division for patents and then they own the cameras in their own devices, much like they do the CPU/GPU. From a vertical integration standpoint, not even looking at gaming, Apple might look at it.

And then of course, the PS5 effectively becomes the new Apple TV.

B/c would be dead, though, since Apple would want to move to an M-based PS6 as soon as possible.

EDIT: And Apple would not have to actually buy Sony. Just buy the movie/music divisions for content, the gaming division for Playstation, and the phone division. Sony makes most of their money off insurance and they'd just become an insurance company.

Apple buying Sony or Nintendo ?

Announcement of Xbox series X2 30tf power?

Apple making console?

Nintendo announcing switch ultra or switch 2?

Half life 3 happening?

I don't want this sale approved. Shit is gonna kick off even more insane consolidation schemes. The AAA industry was already too stagnate as it is.

honestly could be good, a-aa titles of spyro, crash, tony hawk and what ever will probably be made as game pass filer, sounds good to me, instead of the big money stale generic aaa series that dont experiment

What could be bigger than this realistically?
If we are talking about money, then someone buying Steam, Epic, Sony, Nintendo, Tencent. That would be literally bigger.
But if we are talking about just "big name", "big impact" and stuff like that, I can only think of GTA.

Speaking seriously for a second I cannot even imagine what might be bigger news. Obviously something like Apple buying Sony etc., but I see zero chances of a megaton of that caliber being announced soon.
