So we switched cyberpunk from SH1 for animu shit and nonsense one-sentence lines for Persona? +obligatory SFX pondering to GitS fans.

Is atlus feeling okay? This is the first atlus game on Xbox in FOREVER.

Edit: looks alright, will probably buy it just to support the genre on Xbox (& hopefully continued atlus support) even though I've not been the biggest fan of the atlus games I've played (persona 4 golden psvita, Tokyo mirage switch, digital devil saga PS2) I just find the dungeons to be very bland corridors.

Looks good but not sure why its called Soul Hackers 2. Doesn’t appear to look or play like the original much. Do you even have demon party members lol

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife

I guess you have demons yeah. In the trailer, at around 1:10 you can see demons with levels and what appears to be demon fusion.

Nice. I thought it would be just a teaser of a game that barely started being developed, or merely a port of the original Soul Hackers, but it's an entire new game and is already being released in August 2022 in North America.

Definitely going to play this.

In amount of story, dialogues etc., is the first game closer to Persona or SMT? It's just that i prefer my jrpgs when they are story heavy games.

I didn't beat the first one, but it had waaay more dialogue than SMT III and V.

Do we know if it's the same team as TMS?

Never heard of this spinoff. How is it different from SMTs and Personas?
Soul Hackers was a first person dungeon crawler in which you had a party of 6, composed by 2 "humans" and 4 slots for summonable demons. Game didn't have any Persona mechanics but did have more dialogue and exposition than your average mainline SMT, and more cheerful too. I guess it was closer to an average JRPG than mainline SMT or Persona.

This sequel doesn't look a lot like the first one tho, so who knows how it'll be.

Really surprising that an SMT game is skipping out on switch, especially with how the switch is selling in japan.

This is something people should likely get used to, because I expect it to become a widespread trend even more so with Game Pass becoming more and more a thing for JP devs.

It doesn't mean it'll never come. I expect more and more 3rd party developers to release on all platforms excluding switch and then port to Switch after, taking their sweet time. This may very well be the case for SH2.

It's time to come to terms that, unlike all other platforms, releasing on Switch involves additional work, because it's weaker and very different in many aspects. Releasing on everything else first and Switch later is a solid strategy.

You can release on everything with very little porting work and THEN release on the Switch later. Or release it only on the Switch, or add several months to all releases just to wait for the Switch. The former strategy being better should be a no-brainer.

Game pass helps a ton, giving you a bottom line buffer that you know you're getting no matter how well or badly your game sells. For a lot of devs, it's definitely worth leaving the Switch behind for a few months or a year.

Not to mention all this commotion could force them to re-think their approach. In worst case, we could have something similar to KH on Switch, unless people don't mind this as long its on Switch.

I wouldn't understand if they found it interesting that this game had an XBOX version and yet not the rest of the Atlus games.... I have a feeling (In fact, statements to that effect were published by a representative of Atlus or Sony, I think I remember) that the exclusivity of Persona on PS has to do with Atlus-Sony's mutual interest in maintaining the value and commercial impact of the series through exclusivity.

I seriously doubt they're rethinking anything. The meltdowns from Switch fanboys were absolutely predictable, so I'm fairly positive no one at Sega is surprised.

If it's coming to Switch at any point, it's likely because they planned to do it later from the start.

I hope this doesn't have the summon system like the original where it drains your currency. Day one on PC.
I really want to know how this'll work. Trailer has the Goumaden, and it shows demon fusion... But it also has a party compossed of four people with COMPs and such, so... Dunno.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Is this a sequel to the PSX Devil Summoner?

The thing I'm surprised about is that it's getting a worldwide release date instead of the usual delay between Japanese and western release dates. Also that xbox is getting it too. Atlus compared to other Japanese devs generally seem fairly apathetic to the system.

Not sure how I feel about these new character designs.

Shirow Miwa is an awesome artist, and his style is very fitting to the mid 21st century setting.

I'm glad to see Atlus giving chances to lesser-known artists, personally. Their games were starting to look too samey. Same with getting a different composer for once.

Nice, never played the original but this looks great.

Also awesome announcement itself: Coming later this year, announced with gameplay, Atlus finally releasing their stuff simultaneously and on multiple platforms

Great news, now they need to port SMTV to PC.

Between the Nvidia leak and the files on the Switch version alluding to a PC/PS4 release, I really think it will happen.
Main reason I skipped it on Switch despite being hyped about it. Already learned my lesson with Persona 5....don't buy Atlus games at launch.

Bondage angel is back btw, and Jack Frost also has his classic design instead of Doi's. Wonder if they've ditched those, or it's just that the game has been in development for a long time and still has some old designs, because other Doi demons are there like the mermaid.

I'm playing Shin Megami Tensei V on Nintendo Switch and I'm having a great time.

Honestly I don't see a reason to wait for the possibility of a PC/PS4 release. People didn't played Shin Megami Tensei IV and Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse after all these years in waiting of a PC port too?

Drawing a cute girl and naming her Ringo should be a crime worth of punishment.

The atmosphere is totally off from the first game
You shouldn't expect anime aesthetics to look the same now as they did in the 90's. I'm not 100% happy with it either, but while different it also looks kinda cool. Not a big fan of some character's design tho.

Gamepass please! I bet Atlus was forced into doing this by Sega. This was sega's pitch and atlus response.

Sega: We need you to make games multiplatform. This way we make more money, you get paid more and we give you bigger bonuses. These games and Atlus brand become more popular and more people get to experience Atlus games.

Atlus: NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It looks good but it also very different than original Soul Hacker and it seems we are seeing Doi design demons here as well.

I’m curious are they gonna their unique attack animation like in SMTV.

Really? Where? At least Angel and Jack Frost have their old designs.

And man I need to know how the battle system works. There's demon fusion, but the party is composed by people... But by the UI it doesn't look like One More, so I don't know.

SMT IV didn't have a leak and system files hinting at a port.

To be honest I just felt a bit burned with Atlus launching an improved version of P5 (that addressed some of my issues with the original game) as a separate release. Had I known a P5 royal was coming relatively soon I wouldn't have picked up the original release. So now that there's hints at a SMTV I'd rather wait, if nothing comes from it then I''ll just pick it up on Switch on some sale
