Yeah don't worry. I read the whole thread. I missed the part where you made some great argument.
I remember they made Overwatch characters gay by adding backstories. Now, apparently, the backstory is ancillary. Not that it matters anyway. The point isn't that it would be hard or challenging or complicate things too much to make a character gay. The point is they don't WANT to and that's reason enough, no more needed.

You're going to say to others " what does it matter to people if there are gay folk in media" but at the same time kick and scream because there isn't representation of this minority group in a specific story. What's it matter to you?.

I do however hate the fact that it's forced into everything without reasons other than virtue signalling to the internet mob. Don't people think it cheapens that demographic at all? Like hey look see we got a gay person in our game/movie/book we are hip as. Fuck man most of the time these character are throw away 2 dimensional character that feel out of place with the overall story.
Fact is these artist for this game didn't feel like their story they were telling had anyone who was gay in it. What else do you need ?. Fuck man I feel sorry for people who define themselves personality wise by what hole they fuck or suck.

THIS thank you. After this thread I was missing the days where there were games like Sonic and Mario and nobody even thought to ask about the sexuality content of the game, much less decide whether to work on it based on it.
You'd think Mario could never have become a success, because how many people identify as a greasy plumber in overalls? IDK, let's add a horrifying Luigi fanfic backstory, then that'll REALLY blow the top off Mario's success. Make Peach a dyke too and biggest IP of all time confirmed.

Yeah I do this for my school, I told them and they have me down as lgbt and minority ethnic. Ive had access to a ton of privileged networks because of that. I recommended others do the same.

When one or two out of 30 characters is gay, it’s immediately “gay agenda!!!” While the percentage in real life is higher.

Anyway TS, you did the right thing. Obviously it's good to have a diverse cast of characters but whenever you have someone entering on the creative side demanding existing characteristics to change to suit their liking, you can safely assume the actual story and setting would take a backseat to their personal expression of self and their world view.
It just would have been a bunch of unsubtle lecturing and would have felt inorganic and jarring. Like 9/10 western media has felt since 2016.

Does the apparent virtue signalling not annoy you at all?. I don't think anybody is saying there shouldn't be representation. I do however think people are fed up with stories forcing gay characters into stories that feel out of place or font make sense other than browns points to internet warriors
