Bend Studio Rumored To Be Working On Syphon Filter Spiritual Successor called Project Propaganda (Codename)

Only reason i dont really believe this is because im almost certain Bend are gonna use the Horde mechanic again in their new game.
It is used already to simulate what would happen if there would be more PS5s in stores.

There are no supply issues, Sony is just thinking about your safety.

No offence, guys, but wtf is wrong with y'all? Everyone is so seriously discussing bullshit rumors after previously discussing vitality of MIB franchise after another bullshit made-up rumor. I predict multi-page thread arguing over online elements of the game that, with almost 100% certainty, doesn't exist.

We could push back on useless hype-eaters by not making mountains out of every fart...

What the fuck are you talking about, "I don't trust them as a developer" and "they have a lot to prove".
Oh…you need a better translation? Their games are mid and they’re a step below the other PlayStation studios. Days gone was mediocre and they aren’t an automatic hit maker like many of the other studios undert Sonys umbrella. More at 8.

Days Gone was a spiritual successor to Syphon Filter, so this new IP would technically be a spiritual successor to Days Gone if true.

lol well...not really.

Nothing about Days Gone is like Syphon Filter to say all that, like.....nothing.

Even the slight nod to Syphon Filter is a wink and to say its part of the same universe or something, but that is a massive stretch to say its a successor. It would be like saying The Last Of Us is a spiritual successor to Uncharted based on those funny Easter eggs the world has about Uncharted.

Sounds more interesting than Days Gone 2, admittedly. And I really enjoyed Days Gone. I'm sure it'll be something impressive. The stealth genre definitely needs more games right now.

Sony Bend is a very competent studio. Days Gone was one of my favorites overall from last generation.

This studio is more than enough to make a great game, they also have the backing of SIE.

The whole Days Gone sucked is a different conversation that I won't go into. Some genuinely didn't care for it, lots of people like me absolutely loved it, and a ton didn't even play it.

"Online elements" 😂 Should be enough of a heads up, plus with Sonys move to more live services, it's a no brainer, but hey lets make a bet? If I'm wrong and there are NO MTX or monetizations, I will gladly take a 1 month ban, if I'm right, you take the 1 month ban, sound fair?

For the record, Days Gone was 1 of my top 3 games of last gen so I'm not a hater. Game was amazing.
I mean online elements could mean multiplayer. Or it could be cosmetic mxt.

So Sonys big play is to finally release a spiritual successor to syphin filter and then junk it up with mxt? They are coming out with 10 live service games which will undoubtedly have mxt so unless you think this new game from bend is one of the 10 I don't think there's a good chance of this happening.

What? So many great games out already or 100% confirmed to be in development with footage, but this tiny piece of info is enough? 🤣
Yeah I genuinely bought a Ps4 with a hope they'd port/remaster some of the Ps3/2 games I'd missed out on like Killzone, Resistance, Infamous etc. and then ended up not being interested in most of their cinematic exclusive games for various reasons outside of Until Dawn and Horizon (never really clicked with Uncharted etc.) so it ended up being a somewhat soured experience overall meaning I'm not that desperate to get a Ps5.

I did however grow up with a Ps1, and Syphon Filter 2 was one of the few games we had so it has a special place in my heart, plus there's an incredible lack of games involving spies, espionage, political intrigue these days which wasn't the case on ps2/xbox1, so it all that adds up.

I see the 4chan kids got a lot of people here believing that Bend are making a Men In Black game.

Herman has said they are working on a brand NEW IP.

Syphon Filter was cool back in the PS1 days, but is Bend even capable of making a quality sequel/spiritual successor? Days Gone was pretty mediocre by all accounts. And I can't imagine there are many people left at Bend from the PS1 days. That was 20+ years ago.

A Spiritual successor to game over 20 year's old.
Kinda makes you think who they're making those games for.
Apart from me of course ☺️
Then again most things are.
God knows what the younger generation thinks who have no clue.

I really wish they didn't have to shoehorn 'open world' into everything. For some games it works. For others, it makes the game feel unfocused and make the intensity less than a carefully crafted experience. Having to traverse big, open landscapes with nothing to do inbetween locations is annoying.

days gone outsold ghost of sushi. i think what buried the sequel was the critical reception.

Yeah possible; but "how many copies has it sold?" is a bit of a misnomer as Days Gone didn't launch nearly that well... Ghosts will likely far outsell it lifetime since it came out over a year later, and had a MUCH bigger launch (AKA full priced sales.)

Lot of Days Gone copies sold at a discount much later, it was barely in the top 20 games of 2019 in the US.

The day Ghosts comes out on PC it'll probably leap past Days Gone lifetime.

Well let's make the bet. Have a mod screenshot it or whatever they have to do and that's that.

While being well made, I didn’t enjoy Days Gone.
Same. I liked a lot of things about it, but the whole seemed lesser than the sum of its parts.
Riding a motorcycle around, getting attacked by wolves and zombies was way cool. But then it would lock you into a “mission or die” mode for no reason. I hate when games pretend to be open world, then pull that shit on you. Other than that, it was too much like TLOU.

Why is sony so scared to bring back syphon filter? If they are concerned about sales I think that game can work, the psp games in particular had a style they can work with since I know on PS1 the controls were not that great.

Honestly the game doesn't do that too often, how much did you play?

I also hate "mission or die" stuff in games but outside of a few missions generally at the turn of a new portion of the story (the map opening up) you are pretty open to go off and do what you want, when you want.

Bend Studio is rumored to be returning to its Syphon Filter roots after nearly two decades since the original trilogy was released.

Taking to Twitter earlier today, leaker Oops Leaks claimed that Bend Studio is currently working on a spiritual successor to Syphon Filter codenamed Project Propaganda. The game will feature a “late cold war setting” in an open world that can be imagined as a blend of Hitman and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Project Propaganda will furthermore feature stealth-focused gameplay with action elements. There will also be online support with at least a cooperative mode for players to play together.

If true, the game remains in early development and will not release for at least another couple of years.

3-4th encounter with the helicopter I think?
