PlayStation Dev: PlayStation Has “Some Bangers” Out “This Year,” Not Ragnarok but “Equally Cool”

One PlayStation dev has teased that there are some “bangers” set for this year, and nope, it’s not God of War Ragnarok! Over on Twitter, PlayStation Studios Visual Arts dev Robert Morrison teased this, and in future tweets, confirmed that he wasn’t referring to God of War, and that there seems to be a game stewing for 3 – 5 years now, and is about to be revealed.

While some of the tweets date back to last month, it doesn’t lose relevancy at all given Sony has not announced any first-party games since then. Based on Morrison’s tweets, it looks like we’ll be hearing about a few announcements in the coming weeks and months.

Factions? Guerrilla Games multiplayer?

I am expecting them to hold on to the remake to launch it alongside the HBO series. The remake itself doesn't make any sense to me unless it's made to capitalize on the series, given how good the original games still looks.

Just show me the games when they are close to release, not 2-3 years before that. I just want sweet games because I'm almost done with Elden Ring. I'm about to suffer from gaming withdrawal symptoms.

I hope that's fake, no one asked for that shit.

Is this really a thing? Who asked for that?

Why do we need this again? It plays 4k/30 and 1800/60 when running on PS5 as a PS4 game. To me that’s good enough and doesn’t warrant an HD remake. Go back to your SD generations and pull stuff from that. Legend of Dragoon would look amazing!
Imagine a PS5 The Last of Us Collection with the remake of the first game, a PS5 remaster of the 2nd game (that already looks better than most PS5 games anyway) and Factions, the multiplayer game...all 3 included for the price of a full PS5 game.

This coming out a few months before the TV show starts sounds amazing in my opinion.

Wouldn't it be more clever to release simultaneously?

Sony isn't known for announcing big AAA titles close to launch, they are usually announced and promoted for at least a year if not two or more ahead of launch.

so there's basically no way this is actually something super substantial. most likely either a remaster/remake or a smaller, maybe MP online game

The show isn't coming out this year.
The game is scheduled to be released this year. I can't imagine Sony sitting on a finished product like that.

Unless Factions is released this year and the TLOU collection next year. I can see Factions being cross-gen tbh.

Like...God of War probably September...Factions closer to the fall, the collection next year? Who knows...

God of War was shown late 2021 and it was the first showing for a 2022 game.

Compare that with TLOU2 that got its first trailer in 2016 and released in 2020.

He works at Visual Arts Group so can be any project from SIE or from any external 3rd party games. He worked on GoW 2018, Injustice 2 or Resident Evil VII.

Regarding PS bangers, I assume he may mean GoWR, TLOU2 Factions, TLOU1 remake (maybe bundled with a TLOU2 PS5 version and being released a few months before than its PC port), PSVR 2 stuff (but I think PSVR2 will be delayed to 2023), Helldivers 2 or any 3rd party (maybe even multi) stuff.

But knowing that the TLOU tv show will be released around summer 2023 I assume they'll release factions and remake during H1 2023, similar to what they did with Lecacy of Thieves and the Uncharted movie.

I know and exactly that makes me think that the none of the bangers is TLOU. It would just be a waste of marketing oportunities to not realease them together.

Ragnarök was hinted at in 2019 and officially announced in the summer of 2020

all while it was basically confirmed literally right after GoW4 launched as the ending teases the sequel and developers gave hints too and always handled it like it's a given thing

that is not comparable to a game that apparently has not even been teased yet...

Where’s the new ips? This goes for Xbox as well. Yeah GT, halo, ratchet, forza horizon are all great but Sony more so than MS has always had at least one big new ip at the start of a new gen.
