DualSense Edge controller announced

I had one pre-ordered but I canceled it when I realized that I don't really play COD enough anymore to justify it.

I can see no other situation where I'd use paddles in any other game.

Only a few days left and we will know about the battery capacity. I wouldn't be surprised If Jimbo went the cheapest way possible.

Just using the same shitty 1560mah battery from the normal Dualsense controllers and asking for 240€.

If it could have been anyone but Geoff.....
son of a....gotta pre-order in the system. Only thing it's missing is battery life and second set of back paddles dammit. But the other "pro" controlers are anything but. Does anyone know if it would be possible for a 3rd party to develop Hall Effect sticks for replacement on this?

Shooters are the only time I use these type of controllers as well and I play a lot of Hell Let Loose on PS5

Something like running in Zelda/Souls games while looking around? And changing weapons/drinking estus while moving?

...it damn sure needs to. Ill replace the battery anyway but I still like being able to drop a controller on the charger and not worry about plugging it in.
Are we sure it has the same battery as regular Dualsense? Same as in (size/form)?

Will have shorter life than current Dualsense

I rarely play a game that doesn't benefit from paddles or back buttons. In Monster Hunter I can pickup resources while being able to move the camera at all times, and I can have full control over my movement and camera even in mid-air. In Red Dead Redemption 2 I was able to ride my horse, reload my guns, and fire my guns, all while moving the camera around me and aiming at other riders all around me. In action games I can hammer on the attack buttons, while being able to map dodge or block to the paddles. You'd be surprised how much your reaction speed benefits from just not having to move your thumb from the square button to the circle button. In Horizon, I was able to jump in any direction while still being able to aim and fire my bow in mid air. In the first game with the slow motion when you jump perk, it practically broke the game. In battle royale games or games like borderlands, I can loot very quickly and comfortably while I still have control over the camera. Really, with any game where you're constantly picking up loot or resources, or you're blocking, dodging, or jumping a lot, it's going to feel better with paddles.

Not having backbuttons on the DEFAULT controllers was a huge oversight, as you've stated it opens up many new possibilities of gameplay, or sometimes is just a convenience. As we see on this one, paddles or buttons just go over holes in the back, you could have made caps to go over said holes for people too set in their ways to try back buttons. Shame on Sony and MS for not taking a leap forward to make a better standard for gaming.

In God of War it allows you to spam arrows while still concentrating on action, making up for the flawed camera and BEHIND YOU bullshit in the game.

When Sony announced the back button addon for last gen I thought for sure at least we would have that option to start this gen.

They did drop the ball here

I have the SCUF reflex and it’s ok. I prefer controllers with back buttons ever since the Elite 1 changed my bum life.

waiting anxiously to start my run of Monster Hunter rise and give this controller a workout.

I use the back buttons for everything but mainly dodging or running in souls games. Makes life a lot easier.

Also, does Sony direct ship a day or two before delivery?

The back button attachment was amazing. It saved me from having to have the Brook converter hooked up to my Elite constantly.

Honestly, if we could play PS5 games with PS4 controllers I wouldn’t even have considered another “pro” controller. It was amazing.

just got the final charge on my bank account and the status under the order says Preparing to Ship.

Hopefully they ship early and I can get my hands on it for my four days off starting Monday.

this controller still fits on the charging station, right?

So my buddy who I rely on for some rumors and stuff has his Edge and says they do in fact charge on the Sony charging stand

I know that It will have shorter battery life. This is nothing new. Still doesn't confirm which battery is included.

But It looks like they use the same crap batteries from the Dualsense.
Obviously mileage may vary but expect 4-6 hours depending on load according to "rumors" that I just heard from my friends playtesting.

You know I could almost live with just two back buttons instead of 4 but shorter battery life just kills it imo. The edge should have longer battery life.
