Hogwarts Legacy |OT| The Prisoners of AskforBan

jshackles

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Is this the biggest licenensed video game since GoldenEye?
Haha what? I'm pretty sure LEGO Star Wars last year did something crazy like 12 million sales. Spiderman for the PS4 did 35 million+.

This might end up being bigger, but it aint there yet.

Just to get this straight, the game still doesn't have a day one patch, correct??
or drivers on PC at least from nvidia.

edit: never mind noticed released new drivers but no mention of hogwarts. that's us fucked i guess. no way they are releasing two versions in the same week.

Dang, got hit with the spoilers they are posting on Twitter. Not that I was all that interested in the story so much as the overall experience, but still annoying. I was planning to buy the game in a few months, but that might have pushed me to buy it this week just out of spite. Gotta pump those sales figures even higher now.

This game is like crack. Game says i played 10 hours and yet to get a mount lol. Feels like im still in the tutorial, but the game blows me away. Playing on fidelity and OLED, its one of the best looking games out there and the HDR is exceptional. I had 0 performance issues so far and like 1 or 2 tiny bugs

What is kind of funny is that Hogmead and the surrounding area is very rural and these are witches and wizards.

AH! Totally forgot about spiderman and Legos.

I suppose that this is also based on books rather than a movie.

Just seems that this, so far, has taken up the zeighest of gamers in a way not normally seen for a licensed game (Spiderman not withstanding).

Played an hour last night before heading to be bed. Felt like a movie, such high quality and passion from the devs in this game. The hype was real

I get what you're saying. The hype / praise / media attention / normie interest / culture permeation this game is already getting reminds me a lot of 2011's release of Skyrim.

Hogwarts is set in the Scottish highlands and Hogsmeade is in walking distance to the castle.

so yea it's very rural. Hogwarts is based in Loch Shiel. the most populated place near it is Fort William to the east which has a population of 5.6k and is 17 miles away. the nearest city to Fort William is Inverness which is 65 miles north east. to the south east Glasgow (most populated city in Scotland at 626k) is 109 miles away.

Hogsmeade is the only all magical village in all of britain. Magical people, especially in the 19th century, like to keep away from Muggles so it makes sense they are out in the middle of nowhere hiding between mountains and beside lochs.

This is where Hogwarts is meant to be...somewhere down the lake

Yeah, thats what I'm getting at. Especially with the "normie interest/culture permeation" stuff.

When I performed the benchmark and it set all my graphic settings I was surprised that it setup my OLED CX HDR settings as well. It set it correctly to 800 nits.

I started playing on hard and was wondering about the spell rolling ball minigame that I believe was in the first charms class. The AI person put all but one of the balls in the 50 points lane in each round, did that happen on other difficulties?

From the maps it looks like it has a fuck ton of collectibles, that's not something I like, I'm kinda OCD when I play a game.

I hope this game gets some sort of post launch support. Need photo mode and dynamic HUD asap, releasing a beautiful game like this without these features is a sin. They can easily expand the map too
i hope warner bros back track on abandoning Harry Potter stuff. my impression was they were putting out the game because they kinda had to. i mean they scrapped the Fantastic Beast movies (right decision) and this game was obviously meant to release alongside one of them.

so i thought they were putting it out to claw back some money and then abandon it. maybe they think about it and decide not to scrap it and work on a sequel. i am worried they are not working on any kind of DLC or meaningful post launch support other than basic bug fixing.

we'll see over the next weeks and months what happens. so far the game looks like a success before it even officially releases so fingers crossed.

The more I play, the more impressed I am, Avalanche delivered in a big way. And I have only have a passing interest in the franchise, for true fans this must be quite a treat.

They would be stupid to not throw money at a sequel for this game.

For now I’m still in Hogsmead but I’m having a blast with the game. Somehow I’m really liking watching cutscenes and dialogs. Probably because it is much easier to care about the world as someone who read the books.

Had a fun bug where after fixing the statue (near to where we get this spell) more than 3 times the game started scaling the model each time it was repaired.

I am wondering if there will be the Malfoy mansion somewhere. The Weasley home is probably not built.

Edit. The Malfoy Manor is actually in England. So, nope. So was the Weasley home.

Like Callisto recently, it seems there is a clear visual gain to play on 30 fps on this one. Do you play on Fidelity or Fidelity RT ?

I am watching the first movie for the first time in good 20 years... It is kinda awesome. 4k hdr too.
Not sure if it's such a good idea so close to playing the game but I am not HP fan and I only ever saw the first 2 or 3 movies, so I thought a little refreshment on the world might be a good idea

Fidelity RT (PS5) on an OLED looks absolutely stunning wow. I shouldve switch sooner
Must be, fidelity with VRR and frame cap off is gorgeous on my sony x900h. If it wasnt for the kids i would of went with an OLED. Keep finding the tv on pause all the time with fixed images on youtube, disney+ etc.. Must of told them a million times to shut off the tv when they go do something else...

I have seen The Grey Lady wandering around. Also, Peeves harassing students. I have not seen much other ghosts.

Found the “Dark Arts Battle Arena” where you can use the Unforgiveable curses to fight waves of enemies. The writhing and screaming you hear while using these in combat is unsettling.

doesnt feel jittery with the cap off? I assume its under 48 fps most of the time so vrr doesnt even work on PS

If you are playing it on a PC. I would recommend using a PS5 controller. Especially for the controller speaker effects.

I guess you get different house friends depending on what house you pick. There seems to be relationship quests.
I went to Hogsmead with Natty.

The game does this cool effect to let you know a sentient enemy has spotted you. It actually makes you panic.

wait theres actual dualsense haptics effect when using it on a pc ? man what the hell nothing works at all on my end outside of the regular rumble, might try with ds4windows
