So...

Just finished the PlayStation exclusive quest.

That certainly feels like a little part of the game has been ripped out of the other versions.

The reward is pretty solid too, you essentially unlock a vendor that sells your items for 10% more than at other shops + a full outfit. The quest is solid, a lot better than the trailer would make me believe, which made it comes across as cheap, its surprisingly challenging on hard and made be drink through a few support potions on the final phase of the boss. Some pretty cool looking puzzles even if they where pretty easy.

About 30 minutes, give or take, its just a better than average side quest with a solid payoff at the end as it gives access and changes the boarded up shop in hogsmead. It only becomes available during winter.

Is the hospital hidden or something?
I have been up in the owl tower and where the beast classes are at. I am at the part of the game where you play like a student while Fig is gone.
It’s in the south wing if I remember correctly but you’re gonna need Alohomora to unlock the door I think.

I’m doing a bit of a media / social media blackout whilst finishing this game and just swinging by to say this is the best WRPG since The Witcher 3, which was imo the best video game of all time.

Hogwarts Legacy will without a shadow of a doubt, whatsoever, 100% be a lot of peoples greatest game of all time.

Massive massive shout out to the dev team for the delays btw, if delays like this mean a game so polished and detailed on day 1, keep delaying it.

Absolutely fucking unbelievable game this is, and no doubt be right at the very very top of the list of game of the generation.

I think it really needs to be repeated for new players that you can wear whatever clothing has the best stats, no matter how ridiculous it looks, because any piece of gear you wear can be altered to take on the appearance of another piece of gear (or appear invisible), without losing the stats. So regularly sell all the clothing pieces you don't wear, there aren't many gear slots anyway.

For example, I'm wearing the best gear in each category (handwear, facewear, headwear, neckwear, cloaks and robes, outfit), but my character still looks like the beginning of the game, with the traditional school robe.

I just think too many players won't find that out until later and spend too much time underpowered because they don't know the transmog system and don't like the look of their character.

Yeah. The previews show that you get:
The Room of Requirement and the Vivarium. You get a boatload of stuff.

You are the uber wizard.

Question: when you come across one of those moth puzzles that involves you looking at a mirror, can that be solved without having to 'unlock' a door that requires levelling up?

For some reason, I totally missed the compass feature when I first started. Press up on the direction pad and you will get a whisp pointing you to where you need to go.
With the size of the game and complexity of the school, I'm not sure I would have made it to my first class without that feature...

I love the way they implemented it too. It actually looks really nice and isn't just a trail of arrows on the ground or something.

Yes. You need to find the place that is in the picture. Then you have to do something when you get there.
I don't want to ruin it. They are pretty neat puzzles.

When using Revelio, if a piece of furniture turns blueish, it means it's a puzzle you can resolve. If not, you need to progress more into the game before solving the puzzle.

First Harry Potter related thing I've ever purchased. Going in blind.

Bully (PS2) is one of my favorites, so if this is anything like that, I'll be happy.

oh noes, I hate all them choices, fidelity? Performance? Balanced? HFR Performance? What should I pick, what looks best on a 77“ CX?

Ah. I was wondering how you get access to it. So, I have to advance the story and wait till winter.

I am so happy for the development team. They have been under so much industry pressure for sticking to their guns and releasing the game they wanted to make.

based.

Awesome.

The higher the sales, twitch feeds and Steam concurrent gamer counts the better as it's just a slap in the face to JK and HP haters. It'll show their existence of whining and cancel culture is so small they are irrelevant in reality.

I wish I could shake the hands of everyone in the dev team. They've done an amazing job. Simply amazing.

There's some next-level attention to detail here. I can't remember the last time I've played a game with so many little things scattered around literally everywhere you go.

You just know a team of people spent five years creating and animating all those living paintings. Or animated those knight armors. Or those stone statues at the main entrance. It's crazy.

And bugfree, too! 8 hours in, not a single bug so far.

The Rowling controversy is robbing this dev team of a lifetime achievement award in videogames. This game's quality is overwhelming.

Agree with everything, except for the "bugfree" part. The target-lock on enemies is quite messed up currently.

Ah. Has anyone checked out the Whomping Willow? It is in the game. I have not found it yet.

Edit: Ah. It is not in there. It was not planted until 1971.

I found a level 17 quest at the start of the game. So, you can definitely get in over your head.

There are also areas that require your ancient magic. It makes for a good plot device as to how some places are locked off for people.

Nexus Mods is starting to get a fair number of mods for Hogwarts Legacy and it’s only the early release window. Should be pretty awesome to see what gets made over time and should give the game a lot of longevity.

This is wonderful stuff. I don't love some of the mini-map and overworld map options, seem clunky. But terrific detail. Thought it would be decent. Turns out its fantastic. Agree with whoever said there's got to be a quidditch dlc/add-on/seperate game somewhere down the track.

I hate to make you -- and myself -- feel old, but Red Dead Redemption 2 is almost 5 years old at this point.

Yeah, I played RDR2 on the PS4 Pro when it came out, but (foolishly enough) stopped after a couple of hours and shelved it. It wasn't until the start of the pandemic in 2020 that I made another attempt and it became one of my all-time favs. It was the perfect lockdown game and I still think it's the most impressive game ever made, one for the sheer effort it took and two for the graphics, which still haven't been topped in my opinion. Bought it for my XSX because there most likely won't be a remake or remaster and I'm waiting for a good moment to replay it. But now that Hogwards turned out to be so great, Arthur and the gang will have to wait a little longer.

I’m loving it, my wife is hooked, both of our nephews are completely addicted, and my best friend’s 9yo daughter, who I also bought a copy for, is in full hufflepuff mode. My buddy said she’s been wearing her robe and taking out her wand every time she starts the game.

As a Harry Potter fan, this game has exceeded my expectations. In fact, it’s better than I ever imagined it would be. Granted, I had very low expectations.. but only because I didn’t want to be disappointed.

Absolutely phenomenal game. Now if we can get a Lord of the Rings game of this quality… that would be grand.

Setting it in the 1800s really helps the game. Cars were not first made until 1886.

I guess this is pre-industrial revolution. It is all old timey.

I am kinda annoyed that you can't buy candy or novelty stuff. They could have made the candy do weird effects to your character.

Ugh, guess I gotta wait til tomorrow to play this. I don't want to spend money on digital, and couldn't find a physical copy of the deluxe edition today. darn.

Already posted before but I can’t freaking decide…

PS5 or PC (3090 FE & 5800x)

Standard or deluxe? Release is tomorrow is the premium price worth the few extra things? R probably not.

PC is also cheaper via key sites vs PS store hmmmmm.

(I’m rushing through Witcher 3 blood and wine cause I’m to excited lol)

Just chose a house and it feels more like a interactive, new Harry Potter movie than a game. I‘m glad I joined the hypetrain, this game has good chances of being beaten, even though it is open world and will take ~80hrs to get the platinum.

I would say PS5 Deluxe. The controller on the PS5 does some neat stuff with the haptics and built in speaker. It also changes color depending on the house you are in.

I am a little annoyed that you don't get to do the things to get into your house. They just open up. I guess they thought it would be annoying.
