EU Sales January 2023 - PS5 up 202%, Xbox down 32%.

"Hey regulators, please take away call of duty from playstation to force them to buy an hardware they didn't chose to buy in the first place"
Lol, I wonder if one of the regulators has ever told MS something like:
"Okay, let me get this straight. You are one of the richest companies in the entire world, you own 2 big publishers, you have 20+ studios, you have a lot of classic and successful IPs, and we're not even counting the second and third party deals you make, and you're telling me you need to acquire another publisher with more classic and successful IPs just to be able compete?"

No console wars, but does this console EVER have any fucking good news?

It's always "wait for next year", game cancelled, sales down 300%, 900p, etc.

They've been in this thing for 20 years now ffs.
Yep. I gave Xbox a chance again at the beginning of the generation. I bought an XSS, XSX, elite controller and GPU for 3+ years. I soon realised that the whole ecosystem is a dumpster fire and got rid of the Xboxes and bought a PC instead.

Thank god we never see this kind of behavior from top players in the market.
Timed exclusive contracts has been in gaming for a long time.

What hasn't been in gaming is giving away brand new AAA games for pennies or buying publishers for $70 billion because you know your competition can't do the same thing. It's why MS said their true competition is Google, Amazon (and Apple) instead of 'tiny' companies like Sony and Nintendo.

It's true. Luckily we have consumer agencies ready to prevent us from getting games too cheaply.

Plus its something that anyone can participate in and all three have. Regulators don't have any issues with this since company's can be competitive with these deals.

I wouldn't say consumer agencies but not all developers can afford to release their games day one on a subscription service. They simply don't have the financial backing to do so. They rely on the revenue from day one sales to cover things like development costs. It's not a realistic option for many developers.

At this rate Xbox will lose a 4m ground against PS5 worldwide just between January and March, what usually is a slow period. They have been super lucky that PS5 was supply constrained in the first two years but that's over.
With FFXVI, Spiderman 2 and a possible Slim model demand this year will remain incredibly high.

They had it coming with their disastrous first two years. And this two consoles strategy isn't going to do anything good for them in the long run in terms of production and re-design, especially when they sell this low. And i'm not even going to talk about third party support...

Starfield can be a very good game it's not going to turn any table by itself.

Sony playing it smart with the slim model... between it and Spiderman 2 it might as well be a PS5 re-launch with many current PS5 owners getting the new one too. They gonna have a good year.

No, they are preventing people who are short sighted from having to suffer a huge Phil Spencer shaped dildo (sorry adamsapple adamsapple ) being shoved up their arses in a couple of years if they manage to get control of the industry through predatory and monopolistic practices.

Also, they've already been clear, gamepass is not and can not be a factor. They cannot force Microsoft to make sure it's still available in the future on the same terms that it is today. Pair that with the fact that they have made an admission it is canibalizing their business in other areas and you have a very clear sense of where this is all going.

Do you honestly think they're going to subsidise your gaming addiction forever?

leads to fear. Fear leads to xbox.
the best chance for Xbox was the first two years to come out swinging with some good games, now that the ps5 supply issues are over it has no chance.
Yep its like coming out knowing your fighter in winded, you dont lay off, you push the gas down and lay it all on the line. Now thats sony has caught its breath, they are in trouble

$80 games? Why not. I put more money in, and more quality comes out. Might as well round it up to $100 honestly.
Holly molly meltdown we are having here.

I know your game but for future reference:

The market decides that Sony it's way better than Microsoft. Ms takes more money than Xbox has ever created and tries to buy on the the biggest 3rd party publisher in order to hinder Everyone else beside Xbox to try to compete. Regulators see what it's going on, and not being console warrior as yourself, they see that getting all of that will increase in less power on the consumers, and in the end higher prices.

Now you can continue with your concerned drivel.

Sony fans are really good at pointing out and echoing Xbox’s failures. Neogaf is a bit of an echochamber that prefers Sony.

Xbox has had good news this gen.
Like forza horizon making record sales. Minecraft is continuing to be a phenomenon under Microsoft. Hardware sales were breaking records in foreign markets. Acquiring Bethesda was huge. Once they get Activision it will be an even bigger deal.

2022 was a bad year, similar to some of the Xbox one years. 2023 is important because of starfield, forza Motorsport and the Activision deal. If all three of those land, Xbox will be in a much better state.

The Activision/Blizzard deal has put Xbox in some sort of limbo. The deal is expected to go through in may, and then they will have their showcase. The brand will be in a much stronger state after we see fable, contraband, perfect dark, hellblade, gears 6, avowed and more.

Trust me, I couldn't agree more. If you take that 30% decline from MS this year and map it out into the future, MS would basically control the entire industry in 10 years. We'd all be helpless underneath their iron grip dildo.

I'm in agreement with you guys; I don't want a future of being addicted to dildo. Whatever it takes to protect PS and our orifices.

*looks at graph*

So you want a future that's a race to the bottom? In turn causing developers and studios to fold, IPs to stagnate, investments to squander, etc., etc..

Spider-Man 2 alone will undo any sales Starfield brings when it releases this year. The fact they still have FFXVI, the eventual FFVII Remake Rebirth soon etc is just icing on the cake

God forbid MS has to compete on the merits of their product instead of buying the audience.

God forbid you demand that from them instead of praying for MS to buy your ass company.

Nothing is worse for a company than to burnout their most loyal fanbase.
I used to love PlayStation, but the ps3 era was so awful, I never went back to the brand. Spider-Man was close to bringing me back but I just waited for PC after the Nvidia leaks.

A lot of people feel this with xbox.
