True incompetence is comparing the development cycle (team size + support studios, budget size, etc) of The Last of Us 2 or, of all things, GTA6 to Hellblade 2 which is being made by a team (in their words) 'roughly twice the size' as the one that did Hellblade 1 (which would put it at 40 people).
Xbox Series dev kits became available in late 2019 (remember, Hellblade 2 isn't a cross-gen dev cycle)..this is while they were doing multiple VR projects and trying to get Bleeding Edge out the door.
Covid sent everyone home in spring 2020 for an entire year without any ability to do motion/performance capture (which is obviously a huge chunk of a cinematic game with all new assets).
They didnt get back together until June 2021 in their new facility; which is exactly when full production began.
Not to mention, they've been developing Project Mara in Tandem.
The ignorance of some of you people to assume these people are just sitting around 'getting mismanaged'..just look this shit up if you really want to know whats been happening.

I will give you that, it was. Just tired of seeing her tweak out a musical number every trailer they've shown. They even pulled a repeat at a dev conference.
We should get full on gameplay this time, however. They have to outline the changes (built upon) of the mind numbing repetitiveness the first game was.

We got gameplay (sorta) in the last real showing of the game. Hopefully we get something similar to that with an actual HUD next week.

- black myth: Wukong: I feel this game is a vaporware, I am not sure if it is not just a big ad to get inverters money
- Banishers: No idea what this game is

Seems like they could really win people over if they showed great gameplay of Starfield and Avowed alone. Maybe pepper in some badassery of Hellblade 2 or Outer Worlds 2.
If they were smart on this one they'd know to show a few quality gameplay trailers that show quality. Instead of cinematic trailers. I think that'd say a lot.

Really hoping this is more than just updates on the games we've been waiting forever for. I will 100% be all over it when it's out but I'm tired of seeing Hellblade. We all know what Forza is we don't need to see it again (though it'll definitely be there). I don't care about what's new in SoT or ESO.
I wanna see Avowed and Fable. I do want to know what Evewild actually is. I want to see Wolfenstein 3, and all these rumored projects we keep hearing murmurs of from InXile and Compulsion and IO.

Jokes aside, Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3 and Forza 5 on Xbox One at launch was the last time Xbox felt like Xbox to me. I was in heaven back then in spite of all the negative press. Would love to see it make another comeback with Mick Gordon doing the soundtrack since he’s no longer working for Bethesda.

Last year the show was fine, but nothing truly amazing. Finally show me something that is "next gen", show me why I bought XSX. I think Hellblade 2 will be that. I don't doubt Avowed will look great but Obsidian aren't known for state of the art visuals. This is assuming Avowed is there, but jesus, it really should be, it's way overdue. I mean them promising to show it and then....nothing for two years.
I felt last year had too much games that just don't fit in a showcase. You have one showcase a year, it should be big. I miss the E3s of the past where big third party titles would be revealed top, I'd love to see Alan Wake 2 there but it's likely at Sony or SGF. If its a Game Pass show again then it will undoubtedly have a good amount of smaller games too, which is fine, but a good balance is needed. And in that case I hope they managed to get some big things for the service too.

Phil Spencer in the Xcast interview said we'd get updates on games announced in 2020, I expect Hellblade 2, Avowed, but I doubt we get SoD 3, Fable. Maybe it's finally time to see what Compulsion has been working on.
