Right on cue
I said this in the redfall thread or maybe it was the Phil Spencer thread where he said that they realized in october of last year that the game didnt connect with players so they decided to patch up the bugs and ship it knowing it stank. I said then that they shouldve cancelled it.Well, I guess that's why they weren't included in the showcase. Sad to hear but I'd rather have the game ready and finished than half assed.
Jason posted a tweet about it.Can I get a link to back up these claims? I've never seen an announcement for a gameplay demo.
We know they're working on Factions > < That haven't shown me Factions so it's a delay... Because I said so.
I'm prepared to stand corrected if you can give me a source to back up ANY of your claims.
Seattle-based Bungie, to evaluate the games across its portfolio. Bungie raised questions about the The Last of Us multiplayer project's ability to keep players engaged for a long period of time, which led to the reassessment.
Sorry to break it to you, but it will continue.I secretly wanted Factions 2 to fail anyways.
Fuck this new GAAS approach.
yes. Jaffe believes he is going to leave ND. in fact (and if i remember correctrly) Neil is not a sony/PlayStation employee anymore. (similiar as Mark Cerny)I think he's too busy being a show director instead of being the president of Naughty Dog now.
Naughty Dog brought in Seattle-based development studio Bungie, to evaluate the games across its portfolio. Bungie raised questions about the The Last of Us multiplayer project's ability to keep players engaged for a long period of time, which led to the reassessment.
well yeah. we have examples of that:Yeah but ND is not a GaaS studio, and shouldn't be. There are already too many SP studios breaking their back on these trash games
No offense but Bungie employed every dirty trick in the book to get players hooked. Especially in the early days. I get that GaaS is supposed to retain players for years but i loved Factions and played it non stop for months. Sometimes that should be good enough. You dont need to retain players for years by hiring psyhcology professionals and making people addicts. It gets worse...
Apparently Bungie looked over a build of the game and reported back saying it looked dogshit
The problem is giving MP games to SP studios.Yeah but ND is not a GaaS studio, and shouldn't be. There are already too many SP studios breaking their back on these trash games
Hope the whole live service model burns and i hope more gaass games bomb like avengers. Really hammer home the point to bone headed publishers that trying to play the lottery with these battle pass games that take half a decade to make, in the hopes that just ONE can be the next fortnite, is unsustainable as fuckSonys live service push is already beginning to crumble. First a tepid response to the new announcements and now a delay of Factions. Suicide Squad got them all shook. Love to see it.
already a thread and let's not give that creepy Jason dude any more attention
achtually....the thread i linked has both. Not the same I' afraid.
One is a dev team with some positive PR, while the other showing some hell in this process.
Oh I agree, but Bungie is the king of whatever this service push Sony is going for, so they'll always follow their advice, however unethical their methods may be.No offense but Bungie employed every dirty trick in the book to get players hooked. Especially in the early days. I get that GaaS is supposed to retain players for years but i loved Factions and played it non stop for months. Sometimes that should be good enough. You dont need to retain players for years by hiring psyhcology professionals and making people addicts.

Thats just the world we live in now in terms of AAA develoment. So this gen from ND we are getting
TLOU1 Again
The Last of Us GAAS
Probably a new IP cross gen with Ps6
It's why most of those live service games will be doa. This was BAD BAD then.
“looks like a studios first live-service game”
Absolutely gutted
It gets worse...
Apparently Bungie looked over a build of the game and reported back saying it looked dogshit
They have had issues because they have never been a two team studio, but the numbers dont lie.
U2 to U3 - 2 years
U3 to TLOU - 2 years
TLOU to U4 - 3 years
U4 to ULL - 1 year
ULL to TLOU2 - under 3 years despite the hack and pandemic affecting shipment of the game delaying it by another month.
2-3 years is really efficient all things considered.
Something changed after 2020. They shouldve begun development on TLOU3 right away but they took over someone else's remake project. Why? Surely they shouldve had their own game lined up. Factions had a separate team that got help from Sony Bend for a while, but what happened to the main TLOU2 team? Why didnt they begun immediately working on their next game?
Looks like Neil went out to do his tv show around that time. I read an article about how he was summoned back to LA from Canada in the middle of shooting the show sometime in 2022 to work on the game. If he wants to go then let him go. Let someone else make video games.
coolJason Shreeker has a pet peeve with Naughty Dog.
DayumThis was BAD BAD then.
