Considering many people on this forum were betting on PS5 outselling Xbox Series X/S by 3-to-1 or even 4-to-1, this doesn't seem so bad. This about par course for every generation that these two brands have competed against each other, the only anomaly being the 8th console generation where Xbox 360 punched above its weight.
This is shipped.

And we have NPD numbers to show the xbox poor performance on actual sales to consumers last year in the USA.

That 3-1/4-1 expectation is over the course of the generation. Not just a year.

And this is exactly how it's supposed to look if, by the end of the generation, there is a 3-1ead over Xbox.

I guess I’m jaded when it comes to MS, 3.2M was honestly quite a bit higher than I would’ve guessed.

There were also people on this forum saying this wouldn't be like last gen as far as sales are concerned, but it is looking fairly similar to me.

Guys, keep in mind that this is MS being MS.

They picked GOW:R release quarter where they (MS) had literally nothing for the entire year to try and show a large gap and how they are a victim. They have sales for the entire year and cumulative and just refuse to show it.

This is the specific quarter they are using only

Looks like those armchair experts who claimed PS5 was supply-constrained in 2022 but Xbox was freely available have just been proved wrong.
So you are suggesting that Xbox selling 3.2M is because they didn't have more consoles to sell?

So that's the sword you wanna throw yourself on?

I'm not throwing myself on any sword!:messenger_grinning: But it's interesting to see that Sony actually shipped twice as many PS5 during the famously 'supply constrained' year - it's a rather different narrative than many Gaffers were expecting, Sony were better supplied than Microsoft.

For all we know BOTH Microsoft and Sony could have sold significantly more if supply hadn't been challenging.

Ouch. Still, lots of PC gamers have access to everything day 1 and don't have to buy a system for it.
Shh, don't give them ideas. I'm so happy they release everything on PC now also. There were times when there wasn't like this.

Ok... well MS made a declaration that they have heard gamers and supply would be sorted. So lets see what happens for the rest of the year.

This is a really good thought. Imagine if it's 50-50. You'd have 7.1 million PS5s vs. 1.6 million Xbox Series Xs. That's bananas!!!

Indeed, and I think the split might actually be closer to 66/33 because for a very long time after launch it was difficult to find Series X consoles but Series S were regularly in stock. My local Walmart never really had an issue stocking Series S systems since launch, but it wasn't until late last year that they regularly had Series X available. That plus the price difference? I wouldn't at all be surprised if the Series S makes up two thirds or more of the total Xbox Series install base.

He didn't actually say that did he?
He sure did, but Xbox business model isn't the same as Sony's or Nintendo's. His business also feeds their PC platform.

Now, I don't know how they are doing with that as I'm not familiar with their steam, windows store, nor gamepass revenues.

Edit: whoops, double post
