If I was MS, I’d leverage these games a ton while drawing people over to Gamepass.

Sony wants the next Diablo? What will they give in return? Even having them loosen Sony’s grip on 3rd party exclusives would be great. FF7 remake and Silent Hill 2, for example

If you’re really worried, you can sell your PlayStation Xbox and get an Xbox PlayStation

Lord of Edge.
One day I'll wake up and instead of all this bs I'll have diablo 4 and cod's on my gamepass.
Imagine all the cod's from 360 era dropping on gamepass
My god that will be glorious
I'm pretty keen to check out the single player campaigns for the last few CoD games. The only games I've bought are the Modern Warfare ones.

They (Sony) better get ready to announce another showcase at the very least.

And on a more serious note, start locking down a couple of close 3P publishers (and developers) and pumping investments & share purchases into many of the other big and middle-sized 3P pubs on the market.

Just "staying the path" isn't going to be enough to ward off Microsoft's publicly leaked endgame, or other big tech companies likely eying a few publishers of their own and capable of similar foreclosure strategies of some or all content.

And yet I don't see you asking Microsoft to loosen their grip on 3P exclusives. Echo Generation, Ravenlok, The Gunk, Space Jam, STALKER 2, Ark 2, etc.

Basically you're saying Sony's not allowed to have any exclusives unless they're 1P, which is dumb. Especially when ignoring the 3P exclusives Microsoft have (timed and full). It's a double standard.
Why should MS give up 1st party games for nothing? MS already gives them the Minecraft games day and date, even with no obligation to do so.

What does Sony put on Xbox? MLB The Show obviously doesn’t count as Sony has no choice in that.

At the very least, I’d call every game an exclusive and not clarify it coming to PS. Then I’d release it later on PS if Sony agreed to an 80/20 split.

Bro...the games I mentioned are third-party games 🤣. As for why should MS give up 1P games... the same reason they do to Nintendo. When's Nintendo put a single 1P game on an Xbox platform? We'll be waiting another century, but that hasn't stopped Microsoft from putting Minecraft, Ori, Rare Replay Collection etc. on Switch :/

Destiny 2, and Marathon once Bungie releases that. So there you go.

And if Sony were stupid enough to take that deal, their gaming business would collapse. You think it'd end with Microsoft asking for preferential cuts? EA, Take-Two, Ubisoft, Capcom, Sega/Atlus, Bandai-Namco, CDPR...all the big 3P pubs would be expecting similar cuts on PlayStation, and hell maybe even Xbox, too.

Which matters nothing for Microsoft; gaming revenue is less than 10% of their annual revenue and probably closer to 1/30th of their net profit (that's being optimistic). They aren't affected by a 20% cut instead of a 30% cut. For a company like Sony though, it'd devastate PlayStation and "spend them out of business", as Matt Booty put it in that email some people still want to pretend was just a "thought experiment".

Rare Replay is not on switch.

Elder Scrolls online, Fallout 76, CoD and CoD Warzone

Didn’t Sony already Roark it from A/B for CoD. And neither party would advertise it. Come on.

Yeah, MS went through all this for a thought experiment. Can’t wait to see what their next “thought experiment” costs.

When's lulu going to admit this just makes her a lot of cash in Activision shares she owns. As if MS isn't an "entrenched" player in most tech industries including gaming. The FTC and CMA aren't the public's enemy no matter how much these big corps will lobby that argument.
Never.

If you check her CV, you'll see Lulu's a hardly-ever-heard-of who was a diversity hire in a rush when Activision got entrenched in a bad ESG score because of the sexual harassment lawsuits.
As soon as the acquisition completes, her and Kotick's jobs become redundant and she leaves the scene a multimillionaire.

That's the American dream, I guess.

Rare Replay is not on switch.

Google lied to me.

Elder Scrolls online, Fallout 76, CoD and CoD Warzone

All pre-existing games prior to MS buying Zenimax & ABK. OTOH, Marathon will be a new game from Bungie post-Sony acquisition and is multiplatform Day 1.

Yes but because Sony had marketing rights and exclusive timed access and content from COD in return. They aren't getting any of that from Microsoft.

Yeah, MS went through all this for a thought experiment. Can’t wait to see what their next “thought experiment” costs.

Hopefully their business license.

Anyway, time for me to hit the bed. Y'all have fun now 😁!

FTC achieved nothing.

No concessions, no contracts, nothing for the consumers or the market.

All they achieved was wasting taxpayer money and two very public embarrassment losses.

Didn't even talk to Microsoft about concessions when they had the opportunity, they point blank refused to talk to Microsoft.

CMA looking like they won't make that same mistake and at least try to get something out of this.

Sad!

YES! im so glad. Exactly. didn't even to talk to MS at all. Pathetic. they got buried not once, but twice! Those bafoons never had a good case, hence their hard L. CMA and MS already figured it out. CMA the ONLY country left.

Im optimistic if MS really wants this to close they will present reasonable and acceptable remedies to the CMA. CMA is still a wild card so who knows but it seems like if MS wants this bad enough they will make it work we will see.

Well they had a weak case. Maybe they thought they could just delay until the deal fell apart. They came close.

It's funny that the CMA and FTC met 26 times and instead of following the CMA's lead about cloud and not focusing on CoD, which the CMA subsequently dropped months ago, they decided to go rogue and completely make an ass out of themselves in one of the biggest cases they'll ever face.

Did they know they were just outgunned? Or are they just incompetent?

if MS wants this bad enough it will close IMO, unless the CMA pulls something unreasonable out which I dont think they will?
Depends on what MS offered and if the CMA accepted it.

Still not clear on the CMA's decision. They could have either caved or stuck to their original ruling.

I think if MS wants this bad enough and think this is essential for them they will make enough reasonable concessions, and pay fines etc..

They would probably have to force divestment if they try to close over the CMA's decision.

Not necessarily. The CMA's order is still to block the acquisition. It is up to Microsoft to suggest a solution that would be acceptable to the CMA, i.e., either an divestment of Activision (less likely) or something similar that achieves the same effect (more likely).

If the CMA rejects it, however, then Microsoft can't close it no matter how badly they want it.
