Palworld: Modders and Devs show evidence that the game copies Pokémon (Up: evidence faked, confirmed as hoax)

I'm hooked on the game and I honestly don't care if they copied their homework and changed a few things.

They could change all the Pal models in the game and it would still be a banger. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Even the colors are the same...

... That being said, who will return to a "classical" pokemon game after something like Palworld?

Have you read the tweet? The meshes are 1:1,this is impossible without copying directly.
Hard to tell if the topology of the meshes is the same from the wireframe shots in that vid.

The uploader must have missed the back face cull option....

Palworld haters seem pretty convinced that them ripping off pokemon and possibly using ai (and the game being popular) is gonna cost people's jobs in the future and make video games worse as a whole.

Pokémon is a piece of garbage compared to what it used to be and the Pokémon fans and the stupid company that makes it should be lucky that a game like this has come out and made people talk about a subpar game that Pokémon is to this day. And a bunch of idiots are just trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. I've already criticized pal world accordingly and while it's not perfect and needs some refinement, I think it's clearly on the right track.

And people are just trying to talk enough because well let's face it. Pokemon fans are a bunch of children or children that are now grown up that are still fans and nobody can blame them but just sit there and enjoy their mediocre current offerings while Nintendo continues to nickel and dime you and charge for two versions of the same game. Because Nintendo is all about us aren't they? They're not a business. They are just like our brothers and family and Hale Nintendo and the Pokémon company our Lords and save you

If they did, then no mercy. Nuke them.
Nintendo about to sue somebody!
Nintendo lawyers have spent years going after nobodies working on free ROMs and now they have an actual target that is a company with revenue and everything lmao.
The game wasn't released yet. Nintendo's lawyers are notoriously blood-thirsty. They will absolutely go after them.
If Nintendo thought they would have a case even when the early trailers were released, they would have acquired a cease and desist from the courts.
Is this Company in a free country or in China? Oh... Pocketpair is in Japan... Right next to Nintendo.... Well, Nintendo is going to sue someone Very hard
Nintendo knows they can't go after "game with pretend animal-like companions." They can go after games that use Nintendo IP and assets.
Nintendo should sue.
If the models are indeed ripped then they probably will.
Both companies are in Japan, this is 100% getting pulled soon. Some of the models are also 1 to 1.

I think it's petty console-warring when so many replies are about Nintendo fanboys rather than whether or not the claims are valid. I hope you people realise you're just perpetuating the thing you claim you dislike.

More tweets from the account below. I get the impression that it's fairly honest comparison of meshes.

However, the most ridiculous tweet is the motivation, which is far worse than console warring.

If they exported models and then altered them then they are in big trouble. If they were just 'inspired' by Pokémon then don't think their is anything Nintendo can do.

Eh, they’ll end up pinning the blame on ‘contractors’, remove the offending designs and replace them with adjusted models with skewed proportions…all with a patch.

Pokemon has Pokemon fight other Pokemon so the entire Pokemon franchise is about animal abuse. Stripped down it's premise can go back to gladiator fights where you put animals into an arena or enclosed space to fight each other. Don't get me started on the rabbit hole that is Battle Frontier or Pokemon Stadium with Rental Pokemon which are Pokemon specifically bred for that very purpose.

Um, doesn't Pokemon also glorify animal abuse? Forcing them to fight each other is okay, but ALSO forcing them to make pancakes is a bridge too far.

Don't forget that XY Mega-stones already explained in the lore that the transformation causes severe pain to the pokemon, Sun and Moon allows you to send your pokemons to the coal mines and Sword and Shield also forces your pokemon to do real jobs for you.

nintendo might just tell them to either let themselves be acquired fully with a cheap price or be sued. In the end nintendo would love to have a game like this as launch title for their next switch. Sad part is that the pc version could be gone. At least the game will never be truly taken down, thanks to the almighty piracy, and why I always say piracy is king in terms of service. You can play multiplayer in the pirated version too, nothing will be lost if it gets taken down, also comes with being free lol.

These tweets are genuinely pathetic, none of these look "ripped" in any capacity, it's clearly using a similar style but using its own model/rig which is completely OK. With this person's logic I could say their avatar is infringing on Sonic the Hedgehog because it has spiky quills/hair.
The spoiled tweet is the real kicker, a video game "glorifying animal abuse" lmfao, actual mental case there.

I don't see the point in trying to assist a corporate gaming giant like this.

Nintendo have fantastic lawyers who get equally fantastic salaries to do this kind of work for them.

To be fair, I don't think you need to analyze it quite as much. Load it up and within the first 30 seconds, you'll see a Pokemon.

Still, nifty analysis.

Except in this case using AI generated art boosted the careers of the people who made this game. It allowed them to punch well above their weight and sell over 5 million copies.

And I highly doubt anyone at Game Freak is going to be affected. They're diving into a pool of money every couple of years. Maybe they are going to have to work a bit harder as a result, and if so: boo-fucking-hoo. They've been churning out trash for the last 5 years.

Imagine being outmaneuvered by a team of people who didn't even know how to use a game engine and who's version control consisted of buying a bucket of flash drives every week.
