IGN news girl > social media influencer > Sony Santa Monica writer > GDC eye candy

You mean...........

IGN news girl > social media influencer > Sony Santa Monica writer > GDC Host

It's not crazy for a woman to get a job to host a video game show, you know.

Above average looking women live life on a game shark. Hell even average women like a more privileged life than men. Of course this really only applies to presenting

Hollywood oscar dress standards have plummeted too, women seem to be competing with each other to show as much flesh as possible, to tease and titillate, while also simultaneously saying they are oppressed and men should stop sexualising them. It's bullshit and should be called out every time they do it.
Nah that's the simps who drool over women like this.

If a man did what she does, he would be roundly ridiculed and would have no credibility at all. But when a woman does it... it's acceptable because... why? You're saying that women are sex objects. Now I'm happy to see and treat women like that, if that's what they want, but they can't simultaneously be respected as my equal because they've chosen not to be. They've chosen to sexualise themselves first and foremost.

Imagine if Phil Spencer dressed to show loads of flesh, or Richard from Digital Foundry. Instead of talking about Xbox or frame rates, we'd be talking about their bodies. Wouldn't that be dumb?

Anyway, of course men cannot do this because it doesn't work if we do it, it's a power only women have. They learn this power at a young age and then use it all their lives (or until it no longer works some time in their 30s / 40s).

I think the question is, how much culpability does the person who spent THOUSANDS of dollars and THOUSANDS of hours in gym and crazy dieting have in being objectified? When is it ok to be the butt of the joke and when is it bad because it detracts from your perceived professionalism?

No shocker why she is popular, though I personally find her voice to be fingernails on chalkboard intolerable. Something between her accent and her vocal pattern is toxic for me. Even when she was spot hosting Daily Fix (another hosting gig well known for having 1 main criteria for the host(ess)) I had to pass because of her voice.

People have lost their minds all over. You have one side that is leading jihad over women being sexualized or oversexualized in games. Then you have you the other side who thinks women in real life shouldnt be allowed to put make up on and look good.
She knows she needs to look presentable as a presenter, and there is nothing wrong with showing a bit of cleavage. And there is nothing wrong with admiring a woman for looking stunning. People have lost their damn minds. Saying a hot woman is hot doesnt make you a simp. It makes you a man.
You are mistaking things. This is not a private cocktail party, this is an awards show/ceremony about groups of talented people who spent the last X years creating a game and not one individual intentionally or not, trying to steal the show. I don't know whether this horrible dress+shoes combo she is wearing was forced on her or they let her wear whatever she wants. Anyways, next time, hire an expert who can dress the presenters appropriately and someone who can teach them how to speak.

I am going to say something. Hopefully I won’t get banned. This is not stereotyping, sexualizing.

I think Alanah is a multi talented person. It is impressive how many things she is able to do. I realize the dress is probably about extending “her brand”. Which seems like what the world is about these days. As long as it makes money. Especially in these inflation driven times. Even if she is a millionaire, she is feeling the inflation.

Anyway, a plastic surgeon i was drinking with told me, men & women benefit from plastic surgery because it helps them in how they view themselves and may help if she suffers from any medical ailments. (I belive she does, btw).

Anyway, the surgeon told me years ago. ”any of us can look like a Ken doll or Barbie, for the price of a Porsche”. “It is up to us to determine which one we get more miles out of.” “The upkeep is completely on us after the fact, and most people don’t do what is required for the upkeep”. “Which is why plastic surgeons make as much as they do”.

Alanah strikes me as a smart person, and doesn’t probably crave the attention like these posters are saying. I think she is trying to expand her “brand”. Again, you can not complain about people trying to get more money!
Yes, I can. Money is not the point of life. Worship of and the pursuit of money above all things is evil.
Every company is doing it, millionaire, even video game companies with layoffs, cancellations, delays and price increases.
Other people doing something does not justify doing it.

I don’t actually care about the Alanah part, but I had to respond to this sentiment.

I would say “too each their own”. I think we all have enough problems to be critiquing how or what people do with their life.

Side Note: anyone else noticing how iOS spell correction is getting considerably worse lately and changing to words we didn’t even intend?

Her rise has been very fast. Barely heard of her a few years ago and now she had an entire side quest in Cyberpunk centered around her and she's hosting game shows. Congrats to her.

I think she’s very pretty. Not sure why she’s taking so many hits here. Like anyone, she can take a bad picture here and there.

Happens with every thread where there's a pretty woman in it. Some people just have to be contrarians.

I had a friend who had to be the contrarian for any statement you made. The day smartphones came out was a god send cause I could just google the answer and show him he was wrong. He'll never admit it but I know he hated the day smart phones became the norm in our society.

I just had a quick look at the beginning. Starts around 1h32m

I just skimmed it but she was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy overdressed compared to the rest of the presenters. Of course, she was also far and away the most presentable and glamorous, but goddamn if I was the organizer of this event I'd be so pissed at folks showing up in t-shirts and just sloppy ass ill fitting clothing that makes the entire thing seem amateurish and slapdash. Though the garish color scheme plastered all around the stage did that as well, so I guess that's just "games media" these days?
