Err, crap misread the link. But they could still put him in A2 in order to boost his movie as a lesser known character.

More on topic - Fuck yeah to this actually happening.

can't believe this is happening. Hopefully everyone involved doesn't screw it up since it took so long to hammer out a script/concept.

He could join the team in A2, and then his movie is a prequel (or sequel, if Marvel is so inclined) to that.

This is post-Avengers 2 now? Huh.

Also, this is waaaaaay too far away :( at least the wait between The World's End and Ant-Man won't be as long as that between Scott Pilgrim and TWE.

I still hope he is in Avengers 2 I want a really crazy sequel with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Antman, and Ms.Marvel in addition to everyone from the first fighting Thanos.

I can't believe they justified this and Guardians of the Galaxy over Black Panther :| Although I do admit, I pretty excited for the latter.

Everybody but the Panther.

Fuck off, Marvel.

Idris Elba was already in Thor. They don't know any other black actors.

Actually, I don't know if they can do the tribal stuff without it insulting people... Maybe if they went really light on that they could pull it off.

He wasn't alone.

Spawn... er Michael Jai White.

Hollywood doesn't like to have leading characters that aren't white, especially if they aren't completely surrounded by a white supporting cast.

Black Panther would have to have at least a bit of Wakanda. That might be too much for mainstream audiences to handle, at least in Hollywood's eyes.

Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider
I will be interested to see how Wright handles domestic violence.

I really hope they've abandoned the multiple generations of Ant-Man premises they were working with earlier. I imagine Ant-Man will be introduced in The Avengers and then get his own movie.

The thing with Black Panther is he'll just come across as a Batman ripoff like he did in Avengers:Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Rich guy with expert martial arts training and tons of resources and high tech gadgets.

I'm not a comics guy so I have no clue about Ant-Man but the description of the test footage that Edgar shot for this sounded amazing. I can't wait.

never understood that Black Panther gets on GAF. He's a B level character at best, right up there with Ghost Rider and Gambit. He may be "cool" but he's not a classic.

Give me Ant-Man, Dr. Strange, a good FF movie, or even Captain Marvel over BP any day of the week.

This actually makes sense if you think about it. They will have The Avengers 2 be all about Thanos following on from the TGOTG and then Ant Man will start Phase 3 culminating with The Avengers 3 maybe featuring Ultron.

i pretty happy about this, but why so far away?

also, i don't really know how they are going to get away with ant-man as the title. i just think the average movie going audience would find the whole title and perhaps the premise kind of silly. i mean i guess since people will see a movie about a board game mixed with aliens, i suppose they'll see anything.

also, how the hell are they going to pull off a talking gun toting racoon and a talking tree for GOTG. i'll pay just to see that.

If the rumors of Viggo being Strange are true, then I'm really excited for that character showing up in the MCU.

Yeah i kinda wanted Dr. Strange more than ant-man. and viggo playing strange would be perfect.

although with ant man you have opportunities for ultron, or vision i think.

Yeah Ultron is definitely going to have to be in Avengers 3 then.

Avenger's 2 or whatever movie comes before it has a post credit scene of Antman.

Ant-man has a post credits scene of him working on Ultron.

Though having to deal with a fucking robot after dealing with Thanos is kind of lol (Even if Ultron is totally OP).

I love Edgar Wright, but Ant-Man just doesn't deserve his own film. Do people really want to watch a pacifist superhero argue with his love interest for 90 minutes?

Take the week off and stay home with your collection of bad superhero movies. The Panther is one of the few foes worthy of DOOM, and thus he deserves all of the respect that you. do. not. Knave.

Ant-Man is okay, but Edgar Wright is what will get me to see this movie day one. The man has not let me down yet.

I'm going to guess introduction/cameo in Avengers 2 to prepare for the solo film.

I am going to guess that Phase 3 will be something like this, maybe with Cap 3 swapped with an Ant Man sequel.

2015 - The Avengers 2 - Ant Man
2016 - Thor 3 - TGOTG 2
2017 - Dr Strange - Captain America 3
2018 - The Avengers 3

I really think they will drop Iron Man from the line up after The Avengers 2, at that point he will have starred in 5 movies. I think the first Avengers kinda toyed with the idea of killing him off, so I think they will do it in Avengers 2. They need to show that Thanos isnt a walk in the park and there are casualties. I also think they will try and use Ant Man to fill the void left by Tony Stark.

It's smart that they're moving some of these projects to November dates. Thor: The Dark World is November 2013.

The summers are just too crowded.

SMH. No way do they kill Iron Man. Come on. Feige is already on record that they will recast Bond style when RDJ steps down.

So no Black Panther movie for the foreseeable future? I guess Marvel was overtaken by those pesky 'difficulties'

In an interview with MTV, Marvel Studios co-president Louis D'Esposito was asked about a potential Black Panther movie, and this is what he had to say:

"He has a lot of the same characteristics of a Captain America: great character, good values... But it's a little more difficult, maybe, creating [a world like Wakanda]. It's always easier basing it here. For instance, 'Iron Man 3' is rooted right here in Los Angeles and New York. When you bring in other worlds, you're always faced with those difficulties."

So, let me get this straight - it's apparently not-so difficult to create the fictional worlds in Thor, or the upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy (with its bizarre team of interstellar heroes), but Wakanda will be more of a challenge? I hope that's not what's holding up a Black Panther movie.

They've toyed with the idea of doing three movies in a year if it suits their story. So I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple other characters perhaps show up. As far as Iron Man being killed off? No way. He's their most profitable character right now. Even if Robert Downey Jr. decides to step aside, Feige has already said the role will be like Bond and they'll recast.

EDIT: Beaten by Tobor.

Marvel must be dreading it though a lot of Ironmans box office appeal is based on RDJ star power. Unlike Bond which would work for a handful of actors there are not many I could imagine playing Ironman now.

I think they will need to kill someone off lol, I think they will either have his character absent for some reason or kill him off. They can't continually expand the line up in the avengers forever. Feige has also mentioned that they are wary of the MCU continuity and they dont want to see it fall in on itself like many comic book continuities do.

Yeah, re-casting Iron Man is going to be a serious issue for them when the time comes. At the very least they're going to need RDJ to smooth the transition by publicly passing the torch to whoever the replacement turns out to be. If RDJ says "this is the guy, I endorse his taking of the role," it will go a long way to smoothing over any ruffled fan feathers.

It's all a moot point, IMO, because RDJ isn't looking to step down anytime soon.

I'd bet money he's in A3 at the very least.

Someone? Sure. Iron Man? Not a chance.
