Is Atlus going to have a strong showing at E3?

With all the hate Japanese companies have received regarding their HD output this gen (especially S-E), I'm surprised Atlus hasn't been receiving any.

They still haven't released ONE HD JRPG on HD consoles. Persona 5 is nowhere to be seen yet, and even their supposedly strong handheld outings have mostly been
awesome
remakes of old games.

What do you think are the chances Persona 5 will be shown at E3? Or any other significant Atlus announcements?

Persona 5 will be at TGS. Very unlikely for it to be at E3. I don't know if you have noticed but E3 is very western focused and Persona is a niche Japanese series.

Persona 5? NONE! Well, almost certainly none.

For companies like Atlus you're not hoping for new game announcements, you're hoping for LOCALIZATION announcements. And... I dunno, we haven't heard much of what's coming past Dragon's Crown, so maybe they'll throw some surprises in that regard. They haven't grabbed as many third party games though, and most of the time they seem to announce things separately from E3, we just saw XSEED announce their lineup for instance so we probably won't have any surprises from them there.

Indeed. If Atlus is at E3, I expect them to be there with Shin Megami Tensei 4, Dragon's Crown, and other already-announced games.

Persona is really important to Index for the NA market, as well. If there is anything from the Japanese arm that they would reveal at a western game show, it would be a Persona game.

Just sayin'.

P5 will be announced in a random Famitsu issue, like every other Atlus game :p Who wants to wait till TGS for it to be announced? I don't think the game's announcement is long from now now that SMT IV's been released.

Outside of last year, I don't think E3 is that western-focused.

Most of this gen's biggest-budget JRPGs have been announced at E3: Xenoblade, FFXIII, The Last Story, etc.
Others (Dragon's Crown, etc.) have also been revealed at E3.

I don't think many have been revealed at TGS, especially the last 2-3 years.

As stated, any titles we see from Atlus would likely be ones already announced or previously seen. Any big announcements would seem more for TGS, though it'd be a great surprise if it were otherwise.

While this is very true. I'm still skeptical as to Atlus revealing Persona 5 at this year's E3.

But, if it were to happen...I'm not so sure my body would be able to contain/manage the excitement.

I'd be happy with a Devil Survivor 2: Break Record localization announcement. Also put Devil Survivor: Overclocked on the NA eShop please.

I don't think we'll get any announcements from them other than US publishing something. Maybe.

So yeah, just a booth.

Going by Atlus's amazingly fast localization for SMTIV, I would not be surprised if the same occurs for Persona 5, a title more appealing to the west. They might even go for announcing a worldwide release like Pokemon. All this is wishful thinking though.

That's coming out in Fall in Japan, so if they're going to announce it, it might not be until a few months later... unless they pull another SMTIV. (But with DeSU, I doubt it.)

I'm not expecting anything big from them really. They'll have a small booth like usual.

They will more than likely do the same thing as SMTIV with P5, but I still don't expect an announcement for it any time soon, maybe TGS if we're lucky. They usually go the Famitsu route, going by the last two Persona games.

Persona's far from niche these days.

It's niche. They're still putting out press releases about games shipping 200k units.

We were just discussing this a little in the community thread. With two games, I'm honestly surprised they're going to E3 and I was convinced they weren't, but it's a trade show, so I can understand they want retailers to be up on that stuff.

I think (of hope) they'll announce P5 sometime this year. After SMTIV hits in the west, they have a clear slate. Both regions. The P3 movie is coming out in the fall and that's it. Maybe FE x SMT will be at E3, but surely that's not releasing this year and P5 has been in the works for ages at this point.

Edit: Guess I forgot Break Record! ~_^

North America actually got Overclocked before Japan did, surprisingly. Though, it was just a week or so sooner.

Speaking of niche, what's the most "niche" title that was shown in an E3 conference?

So what you're basically saying is that P5 coming exclusively to the 3DS worldwide on Q1 2014 will be announced in less than 10 days? Cool.

Atlus USA has to announce their next slate of d-tier European games sooner or later!
I wonder if they gave up there? Divinity was probably their biggest catch and most people who care or could care got it on PC anyway (gift from my brother over Steam, first gotten off GOG and the next Kickstarted.)

Dragons Crown? Did they show gameplay for it (I don't recall it)?

Every time famitsu teases a reveal people always thinks it Persona 5 -___-

I feel if they announced it might get ignored with all the other next gen AAA games. I just cannot see it being at Sony's E3 conference either. When is the last time Atlus announced a game at E3 (Dragons Crown right).

Dragonn's Crown was announced at E3, but it was still under Ignition at the time. When Atlus got it they just posted about it on the PS Blog. (Most obnoxious, self-congratulatory announcement I've ever read, too.)

Atlus and others may also do announcements during Anime Expo, where they won't get drowned at E3 and reach their target audience there.

I do believe Sentai announced they got the P4 anime at Anime Expo. Atlus wouldn't announce Persona 5 there, though.

When is Anime Expo, anywho?

Atlus is not really big company to comparing them with SE is a bit unfair I think. And Index is really in big financial trouble.

They have been strong on portable this gen, and Catherine was a very good title on console. And P4U is technically Arc's game but I think Atlus helped out a lot at least on story part.

I think they will announce P5 this TGS. It will most likely be PS3/360 game.
