NPD Sales Results for August 2013 [Up2: Tons of Nintendo Software]

I think Shadows of the Damned was 24,000 for it's first week, and somehow Suda51 wasn't satisfied with that level of bomba. He had to go deeper.

Capcom in 2013

Only first month sales:

[PS3 - 360] DMC: Devil May Cry - 187,000
[3DS - WIU] Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - between 100,000 and 130,000
[PS3 - 360] Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen - below 58,000
[PS3 - 360 - WIU] Resident Evil: Revelations - 60,000
[PS3 - 360] Remember Me - 41,000
[PS3 - 360] Lost Planet 3 - 10,000
You really need to put the sales expectations to see the true big (hilarious) picture. Their expectations for these past two years were hilariously high.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
So possibly around 100k Dragon's Crown with Vita, PS3, and accounting for a bit of digital action. Not bad when you're looking at Lost Planet 3 bomb into oblivion.

100k+ for Xillia holy shit. Great news for the series in the West.

Shin Megami Tensei IV numbers please?

ToX over 100k? Holy shit that's huge for Tales. I can't recall NnK first month but I believe it was about the same level.

Around 150k for NNK NPD, 650k LTD worldwide eventually. I don't think ToX has similar legs though but it did pretty well here I guess.

<5k copies sold on Wii U.
Approx 85k sold on PS3.
Approx 210k sold on 360.

Sold to 0.0027% of the total 360 userbase.
Sold to 0.0014% of the total Wii U userbase.
Sold to 0.0011% of the total PS3 userbase.

Edit: Total userbases of consoles calculated with worldwide figures. If someone has the US figures, they could do a better (more accurate) comparison

Wikipedia says 25.4 million 360's in the U.S. as of March 31st, 2011 Source: Financial Times.

Nintendo in their internal reports on 06/30/13 says they have shipped 1.58 million Wii U's in the U.S. region.

Gamasutra says that 13.5 million PS3's have been sold. Date listed is 11/10/10.

Lets assume they're accurate more or less, despite not having updated numbers for 360 and PS3, and the Wii U number is shipped and not sold.

360: 0.00827% attach rate
PS3: 0.00630% attach rate
Wii U: 0.00317% attach rate

I do not admit to any accuracy in these figures. =P

Nah, Rayman sold the best on the Wii U. Stuff like Valiant Heart, and Child of Light will sell well too on the Wii U. Its not a coincidence since Nintendo has developed a community that loves to play 2D platformers on their system for decades.

If anything, Nintendo needs to develop strong 1st party FPS games to help out 3rd parties. This is why Nintendo should have greenlighted a Metroid Prime game for the Wii U, despite it won't sell as much as another Donkey Kong Country Returns game.

Why do people keep saying this? Because of UK figures for one week? Have their been any more numbers released?

Because I am highly dubious that Rayman will sell better on Wii U worldwide, or over the space of a month or more. Highly dubious.

Probably Dragon's Crown sold ~100k counting digital? I think those would be good numbers.

And I hope 100k for Xillia is a good number for Namco. I want more Tales of games around here.

The production cost itself for this game will never be earned back. On any platform. Period.

I doubt the game cost more than $20M, and the sales won't just stop now. It will most likely cover its production cost.

Probably hasn't yet but they probably have a better chance paying off the wiiu port than paying off the total development based on these sales. The last SC was exclusive to the 360 and sold almost 500k copies in its first month alone and near 2 million lifetime

Doubt it will not sell. It will probably not give them any net gain, but will probably give them enough revenue to cover the cost.

Splinter Cell sales on Wii U are just sad. The game is great and, loading times aside, the port was pretty good.

Good Dragon's Crown numbers in US (digital can be strong too)... hardware seems a bit weak while software is strong in US right now.

I can't wait the next-gen consoles.

well the real PS360 attach rates should be worse then, the WiiU one should actually be a little bit better. Still sadly bomba all around with worst attach rate on WiiU

Judging by nothing more than the Amazon daily sales charts, Wii U version was outselling the 360 and PS3 versions by a lot, but still not selling many(it topped out around 150 on the chart for Wii U). The difference being 360 and PS3 owners were buying tons of Diablo 3 and Madden.

There are folks in this thread who have more up to date total US hardware figures that could probably do a very accurate calculation on SC attach rates.

Angry bird Wii > xx3 360
Angry bird Wii U < 1.5k

I have no idea what xx3 means.

And Angry Birds not selling on Wii U is not surprising. Activision was trying to sell the Wii U version for $50. That is literally a free mobile app with ads on my phone right now.

Anything that isn't Nintendo on Wii U is 100% dead. Nintendo better lean hard on that 3DS, they're in for a rough ride for the foreseeable future.
