AP: Russia knew of chemical attack, tried to cover it up by bombing hospital

This makes me think this wasn't the first time Russia has attempted to cover up war crimes of Assads.
you're right, it's not but this one got more publicity and hopefully will make people realize their so called Russia isn't this freedom fighting anti elite world power that they made up in their minds

You know, that's Nazi SS type of stuff right there.

Bad enough you tried to murder people with poison gas bombs. Then you go back and try to bomb them while the few survivors are being treated in a hospital...

RUSSIA needs a regime change as much as Syria does. You don't work diplomacy with murderers who bomb hospitals to cover up their own war crimes.

Elections are coming up for Russia but Putin is popular among the people. Whatcanyoudo.gif

this isn't even new but people can literally watch a live stream of Russia committing atrocities via RT news and will still say

"I don't trust it, there could be reason, I need proof"

and then later scoff at anyone who wants to point it out with whataboutism as if the individual who literally pointed it out was an American atrocities denier

either that or they say... people commit evil so we got to commit evil as well

smh

Read my posts in the Venezuela threads?

Chavez- Undeniably needed/unavoidable seeing the conditions back then, good resistance to US aggression, good (short term) results on poverty, like the attempt/contribution on 21st century socialism vision, lack of long term planning (even though he died prematurely), problems with corruption (daughter for example)

Maduro- Terribly unfit, lack of tact, too passive.

Marxists, ruining socialism for the rest of us

You have one US official who says " a drone was there, its most likely a Russian drone so this can't be an coincidence => Russia knew beforehand and bombed a hospital"

Second anonymous US official "no final American determination has been made that Russia knew ahead of time that chemical weapons would be used"

So actually, nobody really knows what the drone did there, who it belongs to, who's jet (Russian MADE) bombed the hospital etc. but the headline is "Russia knew of chemical attack, tried to cover it up by bombing hospital"

wat? Did the Office of Strategic Influence really got shut down?

you just need to see the Syria live map to see all the accounts of Russian caused war crimes in Syria

plus this attack alone had afp and independent journalistic accounts

the information is there but sadly individuals seem to ignore it

I'm not denying that evil shit (from every side) is going down in Syria. Someone did drop Chems and bombed civilians.

How you could get reliable info on who did what in a chaotic super complex proxy war, with no boots on the ground a couple hours after the fact is ... a mystery to me.

1 step closer to the (still really far fetched) conspiracy theory that the Kremlin commendited the attack knowing that it would generate massive news headlines for Trump in the US to distract from his constant media woes.

I don't think it's that far-fetched. There hasn't been anything about the investigation into Trump and associates in the news since the U.S. bombed Syria.

the US already posted a surveillance image of the route of the air vehicle that did the attack took and its return to the said air base

the UN has also investigated other Assad chemical attacks before

So seriously, why are there so few protests in Russia for this kind of behavior in Syria and Ukraine?

And despite potentially polling issues isn't the consensus that Putin actually does enjoy widespread support domestically?

Like extremely high approval #s?

Because most of Russians are at the mercy of russian language press and that is controlled by Kremlin.

Nothing? People who hate him will continue to hate and people who love him will continue to love and the indifferent will continue to be indifferent. .

What should he say?

Don't bomb hospitals? We've done that several times

With the context the man will not criticize Russia or Putin, this turn of events (if it is 100% confirmed) puts him in a pretty telling situation. Since he's already gotten involved he either condemns Russia or further cements the suspicion of his ties to them.

This is a left wing version of an InfoWars/Prison Planet conspiracy theory. Cut that shit out.

You tend to get that on the internet when you make excuses for dictators tbf

Except I don't. Certain poster have been slandering me. I don't remember who it was but multiple times one dude kept using my holiday to Russia as proof that I'm a Russiophile. Multiple times like it's his job.

These acqusations are not only hypocritical (coming from extremely pro-US posters), false (I want Assad out and think Putin is horrible for Russia, funny how you guys miss that) but also used to escape actual discussion and smear campaign/bully people away.

I was referring to Chavez actually.

Maybe im just to cynical, but drawn routes of aircrafts are a hip method of furthering ones agenda.

Look, I*ll shut my flap if an US official goes live and presents data and facts... even if i have to forget the whole WMD fiasco.

I do not deny that the attacks happened. The accusations should just be labeled as such at this moment in time.

nobody else has the ability to drop bombs from a plane in Syria.

unless of course someone was stupid enough to fly over Syria with the Russian army watching the airspace. hey, maybe ISIS stole a plane then put it back. that sure would be convenient.

ask yourself why the US targeted an airbase. your "let's wait for all the evidence" routine is boring. You know who did what because it wasn't even the first time.

This seems like huge news. You know the type of stuff that maybe should be on the big TV networks while they are basking in the beauty of the missile lights.

I'm going to need more sources than a "U.S. Official" who Might very Well be a member of the Trump administration. We know how right those officials were when it came to ABC weapons in Iraq and this allegation is similarly grave.

Am sorry to be the voice of reason but how credible is this shit? I mean, this is a conspiracy isn't it? If this was about the United States surely someone would have said how absurd it is? Or is everyone now on that war bandwagon that they have absolutely stopped caring about facts?. Well, it is what it is.

Edit: would you look at that, wish I had posted this earlier.

This is maleficence to the highest degree possible if true. ^

1. Someone leaks some news
2. Major paper reports it.
3. Gets disputed.
4. FAKE NEWS

and the cycle continues

Edit: some reason didn't read that it was an admin official. of course it is, lol.

He is. But it doesn't matter. If he wasn't, the news would report that he was and regardless of who people voted for he'd be reelected in a landslide. Forgetting for the moment that he changed and ignored laws designed to prevent him being in office this long anyway. Including the installation of a pretend president while he waited out the old rules.

And he has designed the Russian economy to solely benefit a few hundred oligarchs who will keep this cycle going.

Even gaf Russian shills rarely get bogged down trying to defend him. They simply change the subject to Hillary and her awful campaign.

As I understand it, the people who would be looking into this stuff would have to report it to the WH so they control the on the record message. Otherwise, we just have unnamed person at the Pentagon or IC saying otherwise because they can't announce something themselves.

"There are a lot of killers. You think our country's so innocent?"

Surely, the administration will thoughtfully consider this intelligence and adjust its stance on Russia accordingly.

The official says a Russian-operated drone flew over a hospital in Syria as victims of the attack were rushing to get treatment.

Hours after the drone left, a Russian-made fighter jet bombed the hospital in what American officials believe was an attempt to cover up the usage of chemical weapons.

Until Monday, U.S. officials had said they weren't sure if the drone was operated by Russia or Syria. The senior official said it still wasn't clear who was flying the jet that bombed the hospital.

The official said the presence of the drone couldn't have been a coincidence, and that Russia must have known the chemical weapons attack was coming and that victims were seeking treatment.

The official wasn't authorized to speak publicly on intelligence matters and demanded anonymity.

The report wasn't even about Russia knowing in advance. Instead it showcases Russia knowing of the attack, as in it happened, they or someone with their devices saw were the victims were heading and tried to silence it by burying all evidence with a strike.

Just some play on words being used here in order to toss misdirection but not blatantly lying to try and not garner criticism when this "dispute" later gets debunked by journalists by stating that this was what they weren't talking about.

Dunno.

It IS far fetched, but otoh it takes skill to warn the very people you aim at of an impending attack (via Russian liaison), with enough time to evacuate equipment, and fire 59 Tomahaks at an airfield while leaving it operational within hours.

Lol.

High ranking Russians are on the ground saying they will retaliate to the next strike and the Kremlin walks it back.

High ranking US officials are saying that Russia knew about the chem attack and attempt to cover it up and the WH walks that back.

Coincidence?

None at all. Trump is in the pocket of russia. It's incredible how many people are forgetting all of this to justify a missile strike that didn't even do anything. Oh wait. I forgot.. it was a warning..

From a president that despises warnings...

That warned the Russians beforehand.

How transparent can this be?

Nothing suprises me with how evil russia are.

They did also try to coverup to destruction of a passenger airliner , and to this day still try and deny any involvement

Wow, and we have a puppet for a president.

Things are about to go nuclear kids, hope you got your sunscreen.

It's gonna be hot for a nanosecond if you are close enough.
