My God, you PC people need to calm the fuck down. So thin skinned. The interest in the the next-gen version will be higher than a PC version. That's where the public attention is. That is just reality. There is a reason Ubisoft sat on this announcement for months.

PC isn't a marketing priority

PC is there single biggest platform right now. Even above PS4.

Its pretty clear AC odyssey successor was going to be 2 years after the release of odyssey, as that was there development target. The reveal of odyssey was 2 years ago with 11 june. So no they where not sitting on it for months.

If they cared so much about next gen or double dippers they would have released the game either before those console releases are builded the game around those consoles. Yet non of that is the case.

Correct me if I'm wrong. It seems to me you aren't equating the PC version to whatever graphical upgrades the next-gen version is getting. If so:

Ubi makes more money on PC than they do on Xbox, check the financial reports. And I guarantee they'll make more on the current-gen than the next-gen for this game. The PS5 and Series X are 4th and 5th on the list if anything.

The Epic Games Store is literally like something I would have cobbled together in college for a last second exam. At this point I ignore every single game that launches exclusively on it.

I mean the shit doesn't even have a screenshot button in 2020. That's something anyone could code into a Windows or Mac app in ten minutes.

Interest doesn't necessarily translate to more sales. Next gen systems are hard to come by at launch. Also Ubisoft gets most of their revenue from PC and while PC gamers may be 'interested' in the consoles, many will (hopefully) be enjoying their new GPUs.

I don't understand any of the whining and platform war bullshit in this thread.

While PC's do have their advantages, because of this type of thing... a closed platform console will always have a great allure to it...
There is a lot to be said for having all your games, achievements / trophies, friends, music, films, apps and groups / chat all in one place with less of the technical issues associated with PC.

Having an open platform is both a blessing and a curse.....

All my games, achievements, friends (that on is easy since I have none), music, films, apps and games/chat are on my PC. It also houses all my sweet, sweet porn.

PC - 1
Consoles - 0

I guess they're satisfied with how their other recent releases are doing.

Disappointing to say the least.

If it is 30% I can’t really fault them for that. I won’t support ubi again on pc anyway. I wanted to play sc blacklist and it’s gone from my library. This is the kind of shit you don’t have to deal with on consoles.
What ? You bought splinter cell blacklist on steam and now it’s not in your list ? Since ducking when that’s fraud !

I'll take whatever curse you are talking about over having absolutely no control over how I play my games

"all your games"

How do i play my nintendo games on the PS4?, how do i play xbox games on your PS4? how do i play PS4 games on my switch? how do i play 3DS games on my Switch? how do i play PS3 games on PS4 etc etc.

U gotta be joking me. There is no all your games on console, u are completely dependend on what those guys allow u to use and they flop every gen on what that is.

Clients on PC are just applications, most people don't even communicate through steam or uplay or whatever they all sit on there discord channels or teamspeak channels and talk with each other. Clients are nothing more then shops.

The only people you hear bitch about it are those steam retards that can't figure out that PC isn't a single client and are stuck in this console mental idiocy that PC doesn't represent.

PC has BC with everything. With Every single nintendo released product ever, even the switch. With every single Sony device ( besides vita and PS4, even PS3 emulation is a thing now ), xbox is pretty much PC. Then u got the 100's of dozens of games u can't even play on Console. Games that don't longer exists, are still being running maintained, patched by communities with even more content ( age of empire online )

U console warriors honestly need to get some reality check. Consoles are light years away from PC's when it comes to multitasking. U can play multiple games with eachother, i can play switch emulation, while talking with my buddy's on a discord and sharing pictures on another discord, posting on forums all while waiting in a lobby for another game to start its match while watching a movie of video on another monitor.

What can consoles do? switch a game with a 5 second load time and then ditch the other game? wow, i can run them next towards each other with tons more stuff with instant swapping, without any load times at all or even run multiple times the same game.

Then modding and the usual stuff that consoles don't have, i can play zelda botw with actual dungeons instead of just those shrines, consoles don't offer you that. I can play every single PS2 game at 4k resolutions etc etc etc. I could go on and on and on.

And that all can be done on a freaking potato PC.

Having a closed platform is utter and utter dog shit.

People care. PC is 2-3 times better than your next-gen consoles. Much better graphics, loading, controls, customization, and mods. EVERYTHING. Don't tell people that they don't care.

That's not what you said in the first quote though. You were trying to dictate what platform people should get the game on. Let people have a choice and no need to put down the "PC people".

If you think so.... it's not really on topic but I wouldn't be so closed minded about closed platforms. Especially since we can see so many cheaters on PC in COD warzone and Destiny Trials among many others.......

There will always be pros and cons, it's good that you love PC and you have that option. It's also good that consoles are there...

Should probably google Xim for Consoles.

If you thought aimbot was bad on PC, watch until u face a guy with a mouse on a 100% console game with no crossplay using xim and abusing auto aim from controllers. U would wish u where on PC servers.

U also forgot to mention that PC online sector is massive far bigger than consoles and huge outside of just shooters, There is a reason why every console under the sun wants in on the crossplay with PC. Which also makes the issue u describe the same for consoles at the same time. Funny not.

Anyway i play a whole bunch of shooters on PC and honestly the one cheater i encounter a month at best, can be easily evaded by just joining a different server and boom 1 minute later u are at it again. Big fucking deal bro.

Look if you would say, but sony has uncharted, or spiderman ( not like any PC gamer gives 2 shits about any of those franchises, as franchises that aren't on PC simple do not exist towards PC gamers ), u actually would have a point. But so does PC have 100's of douzends of games that are not featured on the PS4 for example, so it gets even less relevant in comparison.

Anyway, u get my point i guess.

Well, that's the case for all Ubisoft games since Anno 1800. Too bad, I liked the trading cards and achievements on Origins and Odyssey.

And you're breaking every single licence agreement going by not playing the games on the platform they are licensed for. LOCK HIM UP! LOCK HIM UP! :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Considering by then the 3080ti will be out, that will be the next-gen version.
Also, if the attention will be there, why screw over Steam? After all, people will be so focused on consoles nobody will notice about Steam.

Much more of a blessing tho. I can fix when there's a curse, on console I'm fucked.

This isn't true

I should have been more clear. Normal people, not crazy PC fanatics who have an inferiority complex about comparing their computer to a set top box don't care.

The general public interest is higher in the next-gen consoles than they are PC. That is why Ubisoft will market their game alongside the xbsx and PS5. They don't have interest in a steam version, it's not a priority.

That's not what you said in the first quote though. You were trying to dictate what platform people should get the game on. Let people have a choice and no need to put down the "PC people".
What tf is wrong with you people? I didn't "dictate" anything. I didn't say you can't buy and enjoy the PC version.

I said the next gen versions will get the most interest, becuase the public will be interested in those new machines. Somehow you took that as me saying "PC are bad" or whatever, and you decided to swoop in and defend the holy PC platform. 🙄

I have a solution for the 30% cut, listen Ubisoft: make a really good game and it will sell. edit: and don't slap 2 DRMs on top of each other while you are at it, so people can play the game without horrible performance issues and cpu usage.

Look at The Witcher 3 - it sold so much that not only it dropped the Valve cut from 30% to 25% (after $10M revenue), but also managed to drop even further to 20%! (after $50M revenue). SOURCE

On a serious note - no Steam, no buy.

Yes, it is a gut punch that a product devoid of creative vision and passion designed solely to make money and based on a painfully derivative, repetitious design formula that has been milked for 13 years and strapped with anti-consumer elements, is not coming to Steam. I pray to God that the upcoming millionth iteration of Call of Duty, which will be a remake of an older Call of Duty game, is going to come on Steam.

EverydayBeast

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Assassins Creed has been great for years, not launching on Steam is all about control, also over the years other companies are getting a chance to have their own stores and I guarantee you not having the new Assassins Creed on their store bothers Valve.

time will tell about steam losing traction. this is more about retention and just keeping your digital games on one platform than having multiple sources.

The more I hear about this game the more I dislike it. RTS elements and raids ... not interested, homebase building ... not interested, online component ... not interested, weak points on enemies ... not interested, creating characters and sharing them online ... not interested. I think Ubisoft are about to make a huge mistake. I'll be skipping a hell of a lot of content by the sounds of it and so don't know if I can justify a purchase. It's a shame because I love ACO.

In a way they are doing people favour - someone might have bough it by accident thinking it's good game and instead receive another Ubidesign product :D

I think You would need really generous professor to let online store without shopping basket pass even for lowest mark :D

At some time in the past, I would have been mad as a box of frogs. But Uplay I've grown to like. It's not bloated, it has cloud saves, it has an overlay with web browser, it has screenshots and you have to use it anyway to get all the club rewards and things. Plus you get 20% off with the Uplay points. No complaints here.

Bummer, but I guess as long as I can just get it on Uplay and I'm not forced to Epic, I'll still pick it up.

Honestly i prefer uplay over steam. Its a lot more cleaner and to the point.
