I'm not the biggest fan of the movie by any stretch, but i would be interested to check the theme park out, just to see what modern disney is capable of and how far animitronic capabilities have come over the years.

This is a Disney Animatronic for Avatar Land:

Also, they just opened Shanghai Disneyland, so if you'd like to see more modern Disney capabilities...

Tron Coaster:

Pirates of the Caribbean (very different from existing versions)

Additionally check out Hong Kong Disneyland's new(ish) Mystic Manor ride that features a trackless system

Here's hoping Disney has gotten its ass handed to it by Universal enough to actually start putting effort into these themed locations. The Wizarding World makes Disney World feel like a joke.

Last I heard at night the ground reacts and glows when you walk on it. And the floating mountains look incredible. I think they're gonna nail the immersion on this one. I honestly think this is just going to be a taste of what they've got planned for Star Wars Land. I expect them to spare no expense on that.

And Super is doing phenomenally, a franchise people have wanted to continue for years. The last few HP films were just okay, now they didnt even wait 10 years and there's like a movie about their kids or something? They're milking it.
You don't know what milking it means.

It sure as fuck doesn't mean waiting a decade in between sequels to the highest grossing film of all time. Milking it is cashing in on all that audience good will while the iron is still hot eg: Disney making a second alive-action Jungle Book movie.

Cameron taking a decade to prep his sequels is the exact opposite of milking it.

I'm glad there's acknowledgment of TRON in 2017. fuuuck that looks cool.

Sounds like there are actually only two rides? A family friendly water ride and some sort of flight simulation.

I wish they would make one of these themeparks with amazing rides.

The problem with amazing rides is they usually come with height restrictions or cause motion sickness in people prone to that. Height restrictions limit the kids and high motion limits the older guests. Disney is about family rides, if grandpa can comfortably ride with his grandkids then they are all for it.

Like Avatar it was planned and greenlighted years ago. At the time they expected Tron Legacy to be Disney's next big franchise after Pirates. They pretty much had no choice but to complete it, even after they canceled Tron 3 because Tomorrowland was a piece of shit. Still trying to understand the logic behind that.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Let's not derail this thread. I strongly disagree and I feel no amount of evidence will change your mind.

Feel free to drop by the super OT to share receipts.

The animation isn't Super's biggest problem lets put it that way, its just the most on the nose issue the show has.

Damn... that Super ether was too hot

This Avatar thing is going to be packed for the rest of the year guys no doubt. Our only hope is Florida's natural crowd repellent -- rain

All 3 of those rides look better than most of what we have in both US parks. We need some more awesome tech here, like Universal did with the Harry Potter ride vehicle.

I probably won't make it back to WDW until sometime in the next decade but big-budget park additions are always exciting.

I'm kinda torn on Walt Disney World as a whole right now. The wife and I went to Disneyland for the first time in our lives on our Honeymoon last month and as much as I hate to admit it, I do think Disneyland has a slight advantage over WDW in a few aspects. (Though pales in comparison in others.)

The dismal state of Epcot is the most depressing. Hopefully they start doing some major renovations soon...renovations that don't involve shoving more Disney IP in places they don't belong, anyway. (I still mourn the loss of Malestrom...I'm actually wearing my Malestrom shirt today at work.)

After years of non-investment in US Parks, spending has now been restored to late 90s levels. Pandora in May. Star Wars land on both coasts in 2019. Toy Story land probably late 2018 early 2019 alongside Toy Story 4.
Rumored replacement for Stitchs Great Escape at Magic Kingdom amongst others lead up to a nice state for the 50th anniversary of MK/WDW in 2021

I feel your Epcot pain. Bob Chapek, chairman of Parks and Resorts, said he's telling Imagineers to “dream big” to fix Epcot and that changes and additions will be “Disney, timeless, relevant, and family friendly” while remaining true to its original vision.
Time will tell how true that is but recent updates in the park show they know it still exists and needs work.
