ELDEN RING |OT| One Ring To Rule Them All

I died at the Boss in Sellia Crystal Tunnel and it sent me to the beginning? Fuck off

How is there no stake of marika

This cave was a headache to clear, not looking forward to that

Just wanted to quickly pop in and say I'm really enjoying the game. Not using any text or video guides, just enjoying the adventure. Only a game like this could make me delay playing Gran Turismo 7.
Same here, I preordered GT7 and it’s installed and ready but I’m only playing Elden Ring, can’t pull myself away, it’s on my top 10 list for the best games of all time now. The critics actually knew what they were doing this time. I know I’ll never be able to finish it but I don’t care, I’m enjoying every minute of it.

i don't understand how radahan is giving people so much trouble? i was lvl85 when i took him out but i felt he was one of the easier bosses

I beat him at 50 I think, and it was a struggle

I’m guessing some people were around the same level

I’d imagine it would be a completely different fight at 85

85? Well, that's probably a big part. We're you a mage too, shooting him from your horse?

Because as a level 55 melee, he was a PITA.

Just beat lord of blood after 20 tries, but I humiliated him on the 20th..

He didn't even enter second phase, i got mad bleeds with dual katanas 50 dex and mimic +10

Also, pop a gold foot and got half a million runes at once

Theres an area under stormveil castle near the rampart tower bonfire. I can see the lift next to the patrolling banished halberd knight but I cannot find the way down there. Any hints?

About the mime…

you know the mime can use the items you have equipped? Have you tried giving him a gold foot? Curious if it works if he pops it, would be great since it doesn’t use up your supply

Theres lots of ledges you can jump on if you can survive the fall, it IS something

I did storm veil 4x and every time I found something new, yesterday I found the secret boss that drops a golden seed

Glad to know, i saw him using lightning buff instead of bleed so I figured he could use any spells i had in memory but I didn't know he could use items

I’ve cleared stormveil a few times and haven’t found him

Looks like I need to make another trip

Finally ventured into Caelid, I'm in love. This place feels wild, dangerous and untamed, there is a sense of constant peril, enemy design is bananas. 72 hours clocked doing nothing but the first 2 regions and helping a friend in co-op, will probably be past the 100h mark before I'm done here, still have a ton of game left, epic is too tiny a word to describe the Elden Ring experience.
I'm playing it like you. I'm at 33 hours and have cleared West Limgrave, the Peninsula and am wrapping up East Limgrave now before heading into the castle. Took a detour down a well for a few hours too. Made it into West Caelid and noped out after looking at the "birds" through my spyglass. Your description is perfect; can't wait to go back later.

I'll easily be at 40 hours by the time I fight Godrick.

I'm really impressed with the balancing in this game, at least in the beginning. I'm always terrified of overlevelling in Souls games - especially on my first run. I really want the bosses to be challenging and fight them as intended on the first go round. This runs counter to how I approach open worlds. I want every mini boss dead, every corner of the map scrounged and every item collected before progressing the story and I was worried this would put me at absurdly high levels in Elden Ring. It seems that if you contain your exploration to areas surrounding the castle then the Rune drops are tuned to taper you off at a certain point - mini bosses will only drop 2500 runes while you'll need like 10K to level up. Hard to get too far ahead. This goes for the weapon upgrade mats too: only certain ones have been available so far. If this balance continues into the rest of the game I'll be very happy. It's tough to over level unless you intentionally grind and grind on farming enemies which ... like why would you? There's so many more fun avenues to get Runes.

This'll easily be a 120+ hour endeavor and I'm in love with it so far (only like 3.5 areas into the game though).

I really appreciate the amount of balance they put into leveling. Balance in an RPG is kind of like good UI/UX design. When it works well you don't notice it and when it works poorly it's really annoying. It takes a ton of iterative work and will always be an unsung hero of sorts. Well done From.

Found it finally, got a faith spell I probably won't use this play through.

If anyone else is looking for it, explore diligently around the hawks that throw fire barrels at you.

This game is incredible, yesterday I was doing exploration of altus plateau, then I remembered that I was doing something underground for the frozen witch, the mage told me general edgelord of caelid had to die...

I was afraid of doing caelid but turns out that this part was easier than some enemies in the plateau

The out of nowhere a fucking meteor opened a big crater in mistwood, went down on that crater and man... I'm 6 hours in and didn't explore everything down there

Every area that I open that is gigantic leads to another 2 or 3 gigantic areas

Best money i ever spent on gaming, i hope they fix the framerate and buff some spells and incantations, I've tried going magic but the DMG just isn't there (I'm level 85)
Wtf man that's awesome and you completely spoiled it for me

Everything hits like a truck, right?
Yeah it's definitely meant for higher levels. The Claymen with spears are sturdy and when they're in packs I had to rest and equip Barricade Shield to take them out. Decided to press on and went up a lift. Came out in a huge area I took for a boss arena. Decided I shouldn't press my luck but did anyway. Turns out it's a massive overworld like area. The Spectral Goat Demons are easy one on one or in groups of two but they seem to come in packs. Looks like I have to light fires to continue and I called it quits for a bit.

Whenever you end up in a totally different (and usually high level) area in Souls it's always a risk reward type thing. I lucked out with a certain teleporter in East Limgrave that sent my far away. Instead of skipping town I took a quick loop on Torrent and discovered a Golden Seed like 500 meters away. Killed three enemies who popped up. Returned home with a seed and almost 5K Runes for my trouble.

Yeah I had about the same experience with him. Died like 20 times, then I came back later with dual katanas (instead of just one) and my damage was wayyy higher. And the Mimic on top of that!!! He bled like a bitch :messenger_grinning_smiling: Also had the Crystal Tear that prevents you from taking damage when he does the tres-dos-uno thing at half health

Int just wrecks this game. I love it. Everyone should spend on int.

It is funny because my brother is a noob when it comes to these games. He pumps up str and equips a greatsword and think that is the best way to become op. That is basically the worst way to play these games. Greatswords suck.

I'm playing mage and pumping Int, Endurance, and Mind in that order. Got the staff that has S scaling with Int. It's pretty powerful and I enjoy tanking with a turtle shell or brass shield and high stamina. Hoping to start integrating poison, too. This game is so fucking cool that you do whatever you want and still have a good experience.

The Radahn fight is largely RNG. First time I tried, I got him to the second phase and then he did the meteor smash and I died. 6 More tries were complete failures, and then the second try yesterday I beat him and only got hit maybe 2 times while not changing my strategy at all.

When helping friends and randoms he would sometimes not use certain attacks while other times he would spam the shit out of his orb attack.

Yes I think we can

Fortunately there's a similar game recently released in the same caliber as Elden Ring in term of market anticipation, Cyberpunk

Cyberpunk was released on December 10, 2020, on PC+PS4+Xbox. Since it's recently released, gamers install base should be relatively the same between Dec-2020 to today.

Cyberpunk Steam peak players right after it's released is 1.054 million. A couple of months after release, CDPR said despite issues, Cyberpunk has sold 13.7 million in 2020 (that's 3 weeks worth of sale) with breakdown of 56% PC, 28% PS4, and 17% Xbox

Elden Ring Steam peak players is 891K. But we know Soulsborne PC install base is 40% PC and 60% console.

So using those numbers

Cyberpunk PC sales in 3 weeks = 0.56 x 13.7 = 7.672 million
Elden Ring to Cyberpunk PC sale ratio = 0.891/1.054 = 0.8444
In 3 weeks, Elden Ring PC sale should be around = 0.8444 x 7.672 = 6.478 million (Even Steamspy estimates that Elden Ring PC sales already reached, AT LEAST, 5 million)
Soulsborne install base is 40% PC, so total Elden Ring sales in 3 weeks should be around 16.2 million (PC+PS+Xbox)

A year after its release, at the end of 2021, Cyberpunk sales is estimated at 18 million copies, that's 30% of its Dec-2020 sales.

If we're to use the same ratio, Elden Ring 1-year sale should reach 21.2 million

Can someone better in math verify my numbers?

Elden Ring just reached new high on Steam. Peak players 953K.......so my estimate is actually pretty conservative (which is somehow merged into this thread)

My estimate, in 3 weeks Elden Ring should sell more than 16 million copies

You sure about that?

Hey I’d be happy to walk you through whatever it is you want help with. If you’re on Xbox and want to chat through anything, feel free to add my tag - Luc1fers Beard
I love you and your handle and your gamer tag. Our power's out and we're at a friends bday party. Hopefully we can play tomorrow. If I'm not too hungover.

Crucible Knight is a great teacher in telegraphing attacks. Possibly the reason he's placed in an early location. When you go back try to count how many swings in each combo and go from there. Blocking I found to be a bad idea there. Hope you get him.
Yup, his attack are too heavy and destroys your stamina, my tactic against him is mostly just whiff punish him after some of his attacks.

Been bloody ages since I've enjoyed a game as much as I love this one. I mean, when I'm not playing the game, I'm thinking about it. Isn't that the best indicators out there?

Love the attention the game is getting!

Couple of my stupidest deaths:

I love it how you sort of have a plan to go somewhere, but get utterly sidetracked and few hours later you start to think "I think I was doing something before". This has to be one of the best open worlds I've trekked because shit is actually interesting and not just smoke and mirrors.

I need some help with these esoteric dumbass systems.

I got a crystal sword, it lists damage under strength and magic, i expected this to mean it does physical AND magic damage, but this does not seem the case, as it does the same damage as my standard longsword that has the same physical damage.

What is the red square with a down arrow under my health?

Ashes of war, how the hell does these things work and how to I pull them off? i assigned one to my sword, but how do i use it?

wow... I thought the "duo" was bs. I managed them yesterday. the two bosses after that were manageable with my spritis.
But the last boss... omg fuck this.
I don't get this games. It's like Sekrio. Thanks from software - I've spent 60 hours and now I can't beat the final boss. just like Sekiro - I never could beat Ishin.
Will try tomorrow... Anyone knows his weakness? I have frost stomp and keen flamberge. Maybe he is weak to something ?

1. Health debuff, you probably got from hugging the lady, you can get rid of it by using the blessing item she gave you

2. L2, unless your shield has ability. or one hand weapon and then use L2.

Finally made it to Raya Lucaria. About 31.5 hours in. I think I found most of the side areas in Liurnia. Weirdly enough, I got motion sickness while playing today. Hadn't happened during previous sessions. Hopefully, it's a one-off.

If you put the No Skill ashes from the vendor in Warmasters Shack on your shield, you can activate the special skill on your weapon with LT/L2. So you can use the weapon special even when youre using a shield and a sword at the same time.

He's pretty easy when you figure out that you need to take at least half the aggro in the 1st Phase to keep the summons healthy & have it when the phase transition is happening, otherwise his meteoric return will destroy all the summons.

I wonder how many will beat the last boss...
So far people are struggling.
Any summon sign in front of boss gate is gone the moment it is placed. I summoned some help and they die faster than I die alone :p

This is actually happening for the last boss? Phase 2 is a joke.
