Honestly "sexy" in and of itself is not bad. You can have sexy characters and its fine. Its when you forget to write anything else for that character in your fighting game that it gets to be eyeroll worthy. Skullgirls is fine. The characters are genuinely fun and each have a lot of story and personality to them. Hell I honestly don't even have a problem with DOA since ALL the cast is treated as a dressup doll. The girls and the guys are all sexy models there to draw attention.

Personally...I guess I fall into the "don't give a shit" category when it comes to people harping about a character being attractive in any videogame. Its called character appeal. Its one of the core fundamentals of animation. Sometimes you just need someone to be pretty or look good because you don't have anything planned and all the major roles are filled, but you need to fill a void in the game's cast with something thats at least got appeal and folks might think looks nice. In those cases "make it pretty" is fine. Its just plain marketable and smart.

Besides...who the hell goes down a street getting pissed off if someone looks sexy? If someone looking good offends someone that person should likely question why. Its not like anything was aimed directly at them.

Long story short...I'm making characters sexy if I want to in the stuff I'm working on and I see nothing wrong with it, but for the record they will serve a purpose and have more to them than just good looks because to do otherwise would be shallow and lazy.

Hi, FGW gaf. I'm new here. I was wondering if people used this google chrome app that list current and future live streams of fighting games on twitch. It's called FGC Live Streams.

Link: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/fgc-live-streams/fkckfjgljhjinkncdapchgcikaiampcn?hl=en

Personally, the only APP I use for stream viewing is called LiveStreamer, which take the stream directly from the TwitchAPI and sends it through VLC or a media player so you don't have to deal with garbage ass Flashplayer, gets me a good consistent 60fps at whatever quality i choose.

I echo your sentiment one hundred percent. Ain't nothing wrong with showing skin, whether it's male or female.

Part of me wanted to argue how Skullgirls handles it's sexy characters better than DoA, but...I'm kind of having a hard time finding an argument.

The first match was the most hype match of Daigo's kumite. The El Fuerte user told Daigo to use El Fuerte so he could break the streak and Daigo had no idea how to play Fuerte. It looked like Daigo was going to lose and Daigo pulled out some Daigo magic to clutch out the wins. Stream monsters went nuts and they asked the guy's thoughts on his loss and he said something to the effect of "Daigo is the perfect protagonist/hero/main character."

Don't watch the rest of the video as it's just him beating up on new players.

I've always thought some people's reaction to Skullgirls' art was overly prudish (and maybe even insecure; like, "I CAN'T LET PEOPLE KNOW I LIKE BOOB-Y CARTOON LADIES"). It's pretty tame. More cute than sexy, really.

Also, I just bought my brother a fightstick. I've finally convinced him to learn a fighting game with me (and it's Melty of all games) :D Time to relive the salty fights we've had as kids playing Alpha 3 and Smash 64.

Stop scaring the new guys, Kimo

Of course there is nothing wrong with sexy in of itself. But people bring their demons into things and muddy the waters.
People at the same time make things work and utterly fuck up things

It means that Skullgirls in its default art style already looks like cartoon porn.

Wouldn't be the first time I have seen something like that being said. I remember when the game was first shown and people on GAF were like "it's like a Bugs Bunny hentai" or some shit. Made me laugh out loud.

Ya. Not a fan of SGs style but I do like the other work the lead artist does. Maybe it has something to do with the way its animated. Weird.

FGW | In Sakurai I trust.

If only for the fact that people get hung up on the fact he says he frowns on calling Smash a fighting game. It's amusing.

He knows what's up with Daigo, it's true.

I'll watch when I wake up tomorrow.

hi!

welcome! tell us, what fighting or smash games do you play?

EDIT:

:B

GAF needs a Like system.

So I can like this post.

Ok, tomorrow I'm going to my boss to request days off in July for Evo, then when I get home I'm going to book my hotel (at Bally's because cheapest room is $105) and flight (should be less than $300 from austin). Though I was wonder if I should book for check in on tuesday or wednesday. Because even though tuesday will make me spend $105 more (probably a lot more taking in account me doing stuff), I wonder if the time from wednesday to sunday will be enough time for me to enjoy Vegas and the tournament (since I might be at Evo for the 3 days, and get my sight seeing in the 2 days before then).

Just wondering if that extra day is worth it, since I haven't been to Vegas before.
