I don't really have an opinion on this but how does this gimp anyone's experience? Because they can't cheat? How does one cheat in these games?I fail to see the logic where it's worth gimping the experience for people because you've got a vendetta against people who want to cheat offline.
Protect your online by any means, that's fine. But have an offline save system, too. It's not like it's one or the other.
Could their online system not have checks that validate car/part/setting mixes to see whether or not they're legitimate mixes? I each car or part has databases/arrays of what they're compatible with, so if someone gets online with a modded set then boot them.
Xbox fans, “cloud gaming is the future”Playstation fans , “cloud gaming won’t work because online infrastructure still sucks and expensive especially in 3rd world country”
Also Playstation fans, “well most people has online now so no problem. Totally fine”
Can an online forum be used offline?Gotta love the irony of people catastrophizing about on-line connectivity requirements on an online forum!
This is another issue. Having a bad internet day will make the ssd useless. No big issue as long as this will not slowdown the loading times of the game.

Not everyone has constant, uninterrupted internet. I wouldn't want to lose progress or some other detriment because I wasn't able to fulfil the game's requirements through no fault of my own.I don't really have an opinion on this but how does this gimp anyone's experience? So true, man. “I won’t play this game that’s going to use online in my console that’s always online while I’m typing 24/7 for an online forum on my online phone. Nope, no way. Let me play Forza through Gamepass which always needs online certification before launching. Much better”.Gotta love the irony of people catastrophizing about on-line connectivity requirements on an online forum!

I didn’t know that. I have this memory of once trying to launch a gamepass game without internet on my S before I sold it and not being able to. Good to know. You can play Gamepass games offline for up to 30 days, fyi.
Why does it matter if people cheat offline? That’s bizzare. It poses no issue to other players unless the cheater is cheating in an online game.
Yup because when I sit down to read forums is exactly the same as sitting down to play a single player game
Can an online forum be used offline?
Is it possible to play gt offline?
Very bad analogy.

Oh, so that was it. All clear now!If you don't set your console to offline mode or if you unplug it (offline mode or not) it requires a connection again.
Kinda sucks because the only time I don't have any internet at all is when I'm travelling to another country and take the console meaning would have it unplugged anyway. Defeats its purpose.
Unless you want to unlock cars or save your progress. In that case having a GT7 physical copy doesn't help at all.Atleast if I buy the physical copy I can play it whenever I want.
I dont like the idea of "renting" games, cuz if the servers ever go down im at the mercy of the corporation.

Settle down tough guy as its not a problem hardware wise for me and to save progress is laughable as that could be done on local hardwareIts a correct analogy. You can sit here, react to and compose posts all day from an offline mirror, but without a connection... nothing happens and nothing changes.
The online requirement is to save PROGRESS. So what's the difference?
Besides, the larger issue is that its a nothing-burger to complain about in the first place. Get over yourselves. its not a problem.
As crazy as it sounds, some people like to continue using their products after the company's marketing division says otherwise. It is the year 2022. Everybody has internet and practically every electronic device and entertainment service requires internet. Who gives a shit?
“B-b-but 15 years from now I might not be able to play it!”
A. by that time there will be a new iteration of GT that does everything better, nobody aside from a few purists are going to want to go back and play it
B. They’ll probably patch it and remove the online check once it’s EOL
C. For fuck’s sake, it’s a $70 entertainment product that I’m going to play and enjoy until I get tired of it and play something else. It’s not some lifelong investment. I’ve spent more money for dinner and a movie.
I guess it's okay thenIt is the year 2022. Everybody has internet and practically every electronic device and entertainment service requires internet. Who gives a shit?

Welp, you just lost a customer. I'm not playing any games that REQUIRE an online connection.
Because I'm thinking long term when the servers get shut down, then basically you can't play the game anymore since it can't connect and verify that you're not cheating.
Then how are you using this website?
Its 2022. everything is internet.
Yep, complete bullshit. The Gran Turismo devs have their heads up their ass. They forced people to watch stupid etiquette videos on GTS before they could play online (is it the same story with GT7) and now they force constant online. Fuck off! This is definitely a call by Polyphony Digital and not Sony. Complete bullshit. These devs...What a load of bull.
You need a constant connection to play single player so they're sure you don't cheat.
Unpopular opinion: what if i cheat. Honestly. I don't, but even if I did it's the single player portion. Make me cheat in peace.
You're worried about multiplayer? No problem, synchronize data on the server when I go to play online, do your checks, gate progression for that mode only.
What an hysterical solution to an hysterical problem.
Welp, you just lost a customer. I'm not playing any games that REQUIRE an online connection.
That is the cost of everything.Because I'm thinking long term when the servers get shut down, then basically you can't play the game anymore since it can't connect and verify that you're not cheating.
Imagine if DriveClub required an internet connection? We wouldn't be able to play it anymore.
Legitimately one of the most outstandingly stupid things I've read on the forum. There are so many different implications based on the context of these two different things.Gotta love the irony of people catastrophizing about on-line connectivity requirements on an online forum!
The issue started, when devs left bug fixes and patches for day1 patch. Once that happened, all good sweet SP were out the window.Online always for single player modes will always be disgusting as fuck, no matter the game or company.
Settle down tough guy as its not a problem hardware wise for me and to save progress is laughable as that could be done on local hardware
Anyhow we can agree to disagree you think its fine we cant play single player without constant internet and I think its silly
Then I guess people who want to play single player don't have to go through all the trouble of accommodating them.I guess they don't want to go through all the trouble of having 2 profiles and two separate garages (how would this even work?) just to accommodate save file hackers.
