Good show, Sega. Even if it's just a port or emu, I'll be happy.

That Dynamite Deka remake should be sweet.

According to the article, if they do remake a game, the original version will also be included.

I wouldn't be surprised to see more Sega Ages Collections make it west after SEga Classics Collection and Phantasy Star Trilogy...

Has there been any indication on how good Sega's Genesis emulation on the PS2 has been? I'm not at all hopeful based on their Dreamcast emulation performance...

And I would LOVE a Guardian Heroes port to the PS2. Without touching the art assets, the increase in resolution and the elimination of slowdown would be godsend! :)

Sega doesn't hold any rights over Radiant Silvergun. They could include Light Crusader and Guardian Heroes though.
I thought Sega didn't own Gunstar Heroes, though? I remember seeing an interview with one of the Treasure guys (I think it was in Play) where he said that the GBA game was in development for over a year before Sega agreed to publish it.

SU-WEET!!!

All right, you know what you all have to do now.

That's right, go to your local game retailer and BUY SEGA CLASSICS COLLECTION.

Good sales for this title will persuade Sega to release the later releases, especially 'Treasure Box'. It's only 20 bucks, and the games aren't THAT bad! DO IT!

I dunno if the rights have lapsed yet or not (or if they can even). Sega did hold rights over all their published Treasure properties though... which was part of the reason Treasure joined the ESP group.

Gunstar Super Heroes iz a remake of the original.

It looks like this collection will be just ports of the classics.

Has Sega created a decent Saturn emulator yet? I want Guardian Heroes!

Didn't Tecmo use a Saturn emulator for DoA1 Ultimate?

No, it is nopt a Saturn emulation. It was progrmmed from the froundup to look like the Saturn version.

Anywya, I hope SOA brings over more of the Sega Ages games

Two dimensions forever!

Along those lines, if someone make a dvd based system that was only designed to make high resolution 2D games, how much would it cost? Wouldn't it be absurdly cheap to make, like under a hundred dollars at retail?

Was it essentially perfect? I'm most concerned about the sound aspect, really.

I picked up Sonic Mega Collection Plus a week or so ago, and so far the emulation seems perfect other than one small issue with Sonic 1. There's a bit of a sound lag at the start of levels once in a while, but it seems to correct itself rather quickly. I haven't really spent too much time with Sonic 1 though, so I don't know if it gets worse as you play, but it didn't look like it. The other games appeared perfect.

Nintnedo better make Sin and Punishment available in the US at some time or another. Give us a sequel with the original as a bonus.

If by godsend you mean sadly typical, carelessly done emulation-based travesty, then you are correct! Why the heck would someone want to view 320x240ish graphics in interlaced 640x480? It looks crap. -_-;

How about bringing over some sega classics with updated graphics on the xbox. I really do hate sony like i hate max's payne face.

I am enjoying playing my psone tho. :D

Well, the low resolution of the Saturn always bothered me with that game because everything got so damn pixelly when it zoomed out (small sprites with low screen resolution).

Oh, that's an interesting point. Still, I'd rather not have the swimmy, indistinct interlaced look that this would entail. Best case scenario? Totally redrawn high-res sprites in progressive scan. Then we'd both be happy. Too bad that ain't happening!

Speaking of Guardian Heroes... anyone notice this?

Alchemist has just opened the website for its next PS2 game - a port of Giga's 2004 Windows-release Duel Savior (which is soon to get a sequel). Originally developed by the same team behind Baldr Force, this was also originally a hentai action adventure game, only this time, battles take the form of a side scrolling fighting game. Similarly to Guardian Heroes, the CPU controls up to two allied characters and the player's character may coordinate with them for more elaborate 'combos'. The port will get a new opening, new voices and new illustrations (besides the obligatory removal of the pornographic scenes, we suppose). While the game has been announced for this fall, IT Media and Game Watch are already previewing the game with a nice set of screens and artwork pieces.

nice! now I can stop trying to hunt down Alien Soldier on eBay :)

Does Alien Soldier really still go for that much? We had one traded in at work some months ago and were selling it for $49.99. It was the European version though.

So they should drop a real RPG series and bring over a lolicon (yuck) hentai game that looks like shit instead?

Graphics filtered to 640x480 look MUCH better than 320x240 on an HDTV, though. 320x240 becomes a swimming mess of pixels in that case...

a complete PAL version usually goes for around 35-40 pounds, comes out to around $80-$90 US after shipping

No, it's not. It's an original game.
[Digs up Play magazine] Okay, you're right. Treasure will remix some of the old levels though.

I recalled Sega announcing a Streets of Rage Ages remake. What happened to that?

Holy crap! You mean I can finally buy Alien Soldier???? One of my top games of all time but a bit too expensive to buy the mega drive version. Damn I'm excited now! :)

Straight ports are stupid. They should at least update the graphics, a la Mario All-Stars.

I agree. Especially if you already own the games on the original system. I mean I can take out my Saturn and play Panzer Dragoon or Last Bronx any time, why pay $25 for a straight-port of an old game that sells for less than $5 used?
