is there a XBX WiiU bundle in Japan?

as one of a handful of games that could remotely be considered a WiiU system seller, nintendo would be dropping the ball with no WiiU xbx edition.

There's a bundle but I think it's just a regular black Wii U in it.

Nope, there is a special bundle. The console is a regular premium one, but the bundle includes an artbook, a map and eshop money for the DLC:

ランキングトップは『ブレイブリーセカンド』で10.0万本を販売したが、2012年10月に発売された前作『ブレイブリーデフォルト』の初週販売本数14.2万本を下回る結果となった。
初週消化率は前作の85.68%に対して53.63%と低い数値にとどまっている。

Yep thats my bundle. Which arrived a day fucking late due to Amazon being idiots.

The art book is pretty tiny though. The box is nice but huge.

The fact that there are not simpler ways does not mean a quite sizeable conflict of interest is not in play, in particular when these companies are new and seeking for funds.

Media Create and Famitsu also have vast conflicts of interest, because they get data from stores that sell video games, and those stores rely on the retail video game market being seen as viable in order to keep existing (or for bigger stores, for their game departments to keep existing). What's to stop them from massively padding their numbers to make things look better?

You could point to shipment numbers from publishers, but since your implication is that the game vendors are highly corrupt and would give falsified information to App Annie, we presumably can't trust them either. In this scenario, they would surely want inflated numbers to make themselves look better to investors.

Why haven't you been questioning them as the defacto sources of information? We respect them primarily based on the fact their customers do.

That said, if you want to know the mechanism of how it functions, it pulls directly from the accounts of developers: https://www.appannie.com/account/list/

The more customers they have, the more real data they get, which is why their customer base is significant and having 90% of the top 100 apps is an extremely strong representation of the part of the market people really care about.

Now, yes, if they set up some kind of collusion with Apple and Google to fool the world on how much money mobile apps make, or falsified the data after they got it, the data would be wrong.

For the former, that'd be extreme fraud, and for the latter, it wouldn't match up with Apple or Google's top grossing rankings or their annual app store figures.

When we have actual high level fraud, it's not very hard to find resources exposing it, like with Samsung, because people call it out all the time: http://appleinsider.com/articles/14...eal-galaxy-tab-was-a-flop-and-samsung-knew-it

LOL you got konozama'd.

Thanks everyone.

Also, one thing I noticed is that Monster Strike Stadium doesn't list any in-app purchases: https://www.appannie.com/apps/ios/app/monsutosutajiamu/

It's also not on the top grossing charts, so is it just using your data from Monster Strike?

Monster Strike itself went back up to the #1 top grossing spot, so I guess that'd make sense if you're importing your characters and people are buying more to use in the versus app.

I don't understand why it's a separate app in that case though instead of just a new mode in the base app.
There's a very strong gachafest going on in Monster Strike right now which is why it's top grossing, not because of Monster Stadium.

Why did Blazblue sell so poorly? Maybe people tired of the constant updates?
This particular update was poorly received in arcades as well.
There's minimal new content compared to the more fleshed out sequels (Continuum Shift and Chrono Phantasma), and the character changes are not too favorable.

There's a very strong gachafest going on in Monster Strike right now which is why it's top grossing, not because of Monster Stadium.

Ah I see, that makes sense.

---

Also, digging around App Annie's site to find the integration link, I noticed they release monthly and quarterly reports.

The monthly reports are fairly limited, and they're about worldwide revenue, but since a lot of Japanese companies feature, I thought I should still share them here.

March 2015 (iOS and Android combined, by revenue): https://www.appannie.com/indexes/all-stores/rank/games/?month=2015-03-01&country=WW

There's a quarterly report I'll dig up information from a bit later today, but I have to do some work first.

I bought it from the store, it is an up-rez of the PS3 version complete with blurry text and sprites :(. It might even be stretched instead of upscaled. Not even in the same league as Xrd on ps4.

Ah balls that's very disappointing. I haven't bought a version since Continuum Shift so would've got that. Thanks for the heads up!

3DS games are sold for $60 too? Type-0 HD was even expensive in Japan compared to other HD Remasters.
You say that as if Type-0 held $60 for more than a couple weeks. Barely over a month out and its already comparably priced to Bravely Default (which has held prices well) at many western retailers. Amazon US has them less than $5 apart, a year old game versus a month old one.

Regarding new assets, they just used the character models from the pre-rendered cutscenes into the game and then used their engine to add extra touches (lighting, bloom, motion blur etc). Most of the texture assets are almost the same as PSP, and look awfully bad at times. The port is well done but it screams a cheap port and not like a FF X|X-2 HD Remaster effort. It was most likely done in a short time as well, judging from the comments of the director.
A quick credit check reveals Type-0 HD had a small army of subcontracted programmers, artists and modelers working on it. And surprisinly more total development staff than Bravely Default did. What were they all doing then?

A quick credit check reveals Type-0 HD had a small army of subcontracted programmers, artists and modelers working on it. And surprisinly more total development staff than Bravely Default did. What were they all doing then?

Playing Kirby games.

That's what I do when I get bored at work!
Or, like today, have one of our major computers blow up... helps relieve stress.

First Day Sell-Through {2015.04.30}

[3DS] Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition <RPG> (GungHo Online Entertainment) (¥4.320) - 40% (two days sell-through)

[WIU] [WII] Dragon Quest X: Inishie no Ryuu no Denshou Online <RPG> (Square Enix) (¥4.104) - 80% both versions sold almost the same amount of units

[WIU] Xenoblade Chronicles X # <RPG> (Nintendo) (¥8.316) - 50-60% (two days sell-through)
Some people are arguing that the shipment is 300k and the bundle 50k. But if this rumor was true it would become the best selling game of the week. Not gonna happen

[PSV] To Heart 2: Dungeon Travelers # <ADV> (Aqua Plus) (¥5.184) - 40-50%

[PSV] New Tokyo Legacy: Operation Babel # <RPG> (5pb.) (¥6.264) - 50%

Rabbids Land

[3DS] Nashi-jiru Action! Funassyi no Yukai na Ohanassyi <ACT> (Success) (¥5.184)

The biggest question is where the rumor came from.

I doubt the rumor is true, but that would be pretty impressive.

That's really good. Hasn't that been been better every year for them since they're Koei Tecmo (instead of being separated)?
And won't be hard to announce a new Musou :p

Square Enix is presumably preparing us for our Mikuful future.

1) I suspect most of the PazuMari sales will come during the week-end (and then the GW). Looks ok so far.
2) Looks like DQX on Wii U is doing ok right now.
3) Yeah, no way in hell XCX has a 300k shipment, ha ha. We're not even sure it'll manage to reach 200k LTD, so...

Anyway, thanks for those, as always!

They're currently trying to clone Monster Strike for their fourth title: http://venturebeat.com/2015/04/01/c...cell-is-testing-a-new-game-called-smash-land/

They had three titles prior to Clash of Clans though those were shut down eventually. They seem to have figured out the mobile market pretty well now however.

I'm interested to see how this going to be received in the west and it would compete with monster strike ww.

If only supercell and other jpn prominient mobile games developers work with Tencent to bring their products to China like King did.

Someone already mentioned previously, but Xenoblade Chronicles X wasn't sold out or low in stock in all Yodobashi Camera branches on the first day. You can check the stock status on their website.

The photo hiska-kun took was from a single Bic Camera shop, so yeah...

Why is DQX doing ok now? 80% is pretty decent, although I guess it does depend on the shipment size.

That XCX sell through is pretty meh :| At least we won't have a stupid The Last Story situation where some posters kept harping on the fact that the game was sold out everywhere when it clearly wasn't the case.

Damn, Sega's smartphone "Monster Hunter clone" isn't even really a Monster Hunter clone. Roflmao: http://www.4gamer.net/games/300/G030021/20150430074/

Capcom can breathe a sigh of relief and spend another couple of years trying to make MH Smart (or whatever it's called now) happen I guess.
