Each episode of Hitman and each episode of Life is Strange counts as a single unit? That explains those numbers lol!

lol at it making barely a difference in Japan as well. =D

Edit: Though if that's their measure of success now it's no wonder they try to push FFXV and FFVII remake onto that train.

Games like Nioh, NieR, Ni no Kuni II, etc... all seem to be focusing on what will/may come from outside of Japan. Japan just seems like the extra chump change more than anything else.

It's a good strategy too. There's not much point in pinning hopes on Japan for some of these series so it's just better not too. It's just a smaller, less relevant market than it used to be.

When was the last time a period Japan samurai game (even with the main character a westerner) a big seller outside of Japan? Onimusha?

If the target is actually market outside Japan, it's weird that they are making the game in its current style.

Does anyone have/remember the Comgnet preorder numbers for launch Wii and Wii U games?

Are Breath of the Wild and 1 2 Switch tracking above or below?

I don't know if it has to be a "big seller" or not. What is a big seller?

I just don't think Japan sales are that important here. Not with how they've been handling it up to this point (several worldwide beta, consistent online promotion, etc...). Success will be based on performance abroad.

It doesn't have to be a big seller, so long as it does relatively more than it does in Japan. As opposed to an opening where Japan is in line with the rest of the markets rather than the odd one out.

Triple A console gaming is dead in Japan, so relative to the market I guess these RE sales aren't bad. I wonder if it can be revived.

With digital it appears RE7 is actually tracking pretty close to RE6 in the UK. The game is doing fine in the West, and it actually had a better 2nd week drop than RE6 had as well so it appears it's gonna have stronger legs

If RE7 fails to meet forecast it will be 3 on 3 for Capcom's flagship titles of the year.

Dead Rising 4 bombed and MHXX will miss the target, maybe not by a small margin.

The director of Fire Emblem Heroes (who was also the director of Fire Emblem Fates) told IGN that they will be doing bi-weekly story updates, which is the industry standard in Japan, on top of all the standard support like events, new weekly content, new heroes, new modes that change up how the game is played, etc, so the support plan in place matches what you'd expect out of a major mobile game.

Am I reading this wrong - or is Square saying half (or more) of their unit-sales are now digital everywhere except Japan?

Yes, though they're counting episodes as units.

That said, they had a chart in one of their fiscal presentations that was pretty close to that by revenue as well for the West.

Good thing we'll have the tie-in game for the movie. Can't wait to play as Monster Hunter's relatable American characters.

I can never tell if you are serious or joking.... PS4 is highly unlikely to drop to below 10k a week this year barring an odd week or two.

Coming out on February 23rd, same day as the white PS4, 34.490 yen.

You also get a 4K Blu ray of Ghostbusters as a gift if you get this bundle.

Microsoft and those XB1 bundles... must have the most incredible units sold > number of bundles ratio of all times.

I guess they somehow felt the need to find a way to balance things out after underestimating MH4, 4G, and MHX's performances.

They're expecting 2m for MHXX, iirc? And in basically two weeks, to boot.

I'm out of the loop, why are people expecting mhxx to miss targets or disappoint?

Edit - if it's the 2m in 2 weeks i see mentioned above then yes it might struggle for that based on MHX, but it should still definitely sell more than that.

Quite the recovery. Maybe they're running an event, but the biggest change seems to be the second bug patch for when it took off.

Maybe they need to run even more betas for their mobile games.

Yeah, lol. They delayed it for the sake of a better/polished launch.

Still, after almost an entire year without a new hit, maybe they finally found one.

Also Minecraft Switch Edition ;)

This highly relies on when it launches during the year due to how Minecraft sells overtime in Japan. If it launches in April it will have significantly higher sales than it would if it launches in the second half of the year.

It also sells a ton during December, the launch of Minecraft Switch in Japan won't matter if it's not around some kind of holiday. Launch it around the launch of Splatoon 2 I'm pretty sure it's going to be the second game a bunch of people buy.

I can't see minecraft getting launched til later in the year, I can't imagine Microsoft will have been given switch Dev kits too early
