I knew Monday was Holiday, but today as well? Ah, ok :D
No I mean Monday was a holiday and they got back to work today, Tuesday.

I was in Bic Camera in Shinjuku on my lunch break today, and they had Pokemon Y (not X) and Monster Hunter 4 in stock.
Just to be clear, I don't live in Japan so that post is based on online shops, including Bic Camera, and they are sold out of both.

Based on previous series sales patterns, how well can this one do when all said and done?

Who knows. With a physical sellthrough of 99.6% according to Famitsu, it's difficult to gauge its sales potential, when it's still quite clearly supply constrained.

So according to the "favorite software top 20" column in this months dengeki
Last of Us is #19

How well did that do in Japan again?

side note, FFVII is #5, FFX is #9 and FFXIII is #14

I would assume that Dengeki is aimed towards gaming enthusiasts, so therefore their data would better represent that population. It's like how the Famitsu's top games (or was it just top Nintendo games?) show Xenoblade as being really popular. We shouldn't expect X to be a million-seller because of that.

Pretty sure Final Fantasy would be overrepresented as well. I mean, yeah, it's huge. But I think there are more casual titles (including Dragon Quest) that should be pushing that franchise lower in popularity charts.

yeah the list is a bit skewed towards the gaming crowd but it's interesting to look at. Purse Owner 4 is #1. MoHu Portable 3rd & MoHu Portable 2nd g are 6th and 12th place respectively.

And on on another list it seems like people favor FFX being on the PS3 than Vita by 47.4%.........
;_;

and speaking of Dragon Quest, my issue of Nintendo Dream as slime ranked #9

Oh boy... I wonder how this will affect GE2

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Wow, another MH4 bundle. Curious to see how much it can sell. Since it's the original 3DS, I'm not expecting gigantic numbers. Far from it.

Famitsu...where is Pokèmon's first week sales number + 3DS hardware sales? Don't tell me that NOA's PR about the worldwide debut is blocking you.

It's 199,521 LTD

it already crossed the 200k mark

MH4 is available in large quantity in Book Off shops, yesterday i saw around a dozen of used copies in Shibuya, today i went to Ikebukuro shop to sell Soccer Tsuku PSV and there were 20 used copies available

So 2.096M copies. Around what was expected?

And 243K 3DS; puts it up Y/Y right?

That would mean 1.9M (minus whatever was DD in Japan) across NA and Europe - this strikes me as a little low, but I don't know what past Pokemon did to compare and I think they said it was just one day in Europe.

It should.
It also means the game sold around 2 millions in the West in it's first two days. Given how European numbers are for just one day, this totally point towards more than 1 million sold in Americas in the first two days.

It should now be up YoY by about 65k (rough 8am haven't had a coffee yet numbers).

All it took was the two largest games the platform has seen! Well done!

I'm just playing, I know the gap will increase for the rest of the year :)

I really wish there was a way to include digital sales of games. With the rising rate of digital downloads its really hard to compare new software sales with past games.

I'm curious to know how it fared compared to B&W with digital sales included. Most likely wouldn't match it, but it'd come even closer. With digital sales it's certain it's cracked the top five of that chart. Unless they're including digital sales, but all it says is it includes download cards.

Those Pokemon numbers are seriously impressive! I'd had expected it to move a bit more hw though (~300k)

edit: wait, it's 243k or 290k ?

That's normal for Pokemon. BW sold 1.08 million and DP sold 780k over the course of their first 24 hours in the US.

Source for this numbers? Nintendo PRs from the past?

Monster Hunter 4 launch week:

3DS LL - 250.000
3DS - 50.000

Pokémon X / Y launch week:

3DS LL - 165.000
3DS - 75.000

There must still be a short supply of 3DS LL systems.

Great numbers for Pokemon; I'm having a blast with it so far. Also, welcome back SmokyDave!

3DS LL - 250.000
3DS - 50.000

Pokémon X / Y launch week:

3DS LL - 165.000
3DS - 75.000

There must still be a short supply of 3DS LL systems.

Yeah seems so. I thought maybe the shortages were due to stockpiling for Pokemon, but seems not to be.

Where is the sales report for the new Vita model

Ah, cheers dude!

I've been lost in the sumptuous and delicately crafted world of Dragon's Crown. That game man, that game. It's good to be back though!

How are you not playing pokemon on your brand new XL ? :p

DC looks amazing, seems perfect for the vita!

I stood in front of a copy on Saturday and nearly pulled the trigger, but I knew nothing would tear me away from DC just yet. I do intend to give it a spin because I really don't understand the appeal, but I haven't played it since Pokemon Red so it can't hurt to try it out. Plus, I do want to get some play out of this 3DS, honestly!

http://www.siliconera.com/2013/10/15/pokemon-monster-hunter-platform-big-deal/

I was expecting this to happen at some point. Let's if Pokekids will join the fun.

As I've already said (in this thread?), I wonder what this means for Gaist Crusher, which is kinda presented as the MonHun for kidz.

This kinda feels like a troll from Nintendo, honestly.

"Sony : hey, hey! Check out our brand new console, the v--"
"Nintendo : HEY DOOD! Want some moar MonHun? Here, take this!"

Then again, the impact on 3DS sales will be quite limited, though there'll definitely be one (it's not just a new colour).

And pretty good numbers for Pokémon X and Y. Shame it couldn't overtake Black/White, but the difference in the userbase (I believe the DS had already reached 30 millions when it came out, right?) is pretty huge. Still, great to see the series' as popular as ever in Japan.

And looks like there was some 3DS XL shortages, that would explain the "odd" bump for the OG 3DS.

Wow, judging from the charts posted, only the monstrous BW did better on DS compared to this. really a great start (also for the West it seems confirmed to be a good start, looking at previous entries debut nnumbers posted here)

Monstrous. Catching Black and White with the DS's install base being what it was was clearly not going to happen, but to handily outpace Diamond and Pearl to such a degree is a great success. If its legs are closer to DP's than BW... holy crap.

Hmm... forgot about the new colours, but I doubt they did much, since it was just a slightly different version of Black/White 3DS. Hardly something that's cause a sizable (25k) increase in sales.

Besides, didn't Media Create mention stocks running low the two weeks prior to Pokémon X and Y launch?

By the way, does Enterbrain/Media Create mention the % of bundles for hardware sales? Not on Wednesday, but in the week-end. I'd love to know how many Pokémon bundles were sold.
