Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Regarding the Amazon link posted by Mpl90, I find it rather surprising that Super Mario 3D Land is only 20th on the list. No word from the retailers about pre-orders ?

Given the sales drop after W1, I'd say <700k with much certainty.

For Mario 3D Land, it's only that...well, look at the price.
There are no copies available for preorder now on Amazon.
The same goes to MH.
And Chris reported at the beginning of the month that retailers talked about shipments a bit too low to sustain the demand.
P.S. Low for a title like Mario would be something like 450-460k first shipment, it was with Galaxy that they shipped too much, while with Galaxy 2 they did a better shipment for them, IIRC.

3DSs lineup early next year looks really decent with some very interesting games like RErevelation, Ace Combat, Fatal Frame(Shinren Camera)Tekken and Beyond the Labyrinth.

On the other hand Vitas lineup looks really empty right now, only ToI so far? It´s also discouraging that since TGS there weren´t any new annoucements for Vita besides a PSP port of Time Travellers. Sony obviously concentraded the lineup for Vitas launch and for that very reason most titles will underperform, the following empty 1.Q 2012 won´t help Vitas popularity, right now it´s even worse than 3DSs first 3 months in Japan.

For 3DS, there are also other things lacking.
The three Nintendo games that will launch during Q1 (Kid Icarus, Luigi and Animal Crossing)
Girls RPG from Level 5 (February)
And other games will follow with no doubt.
Vita so far...eh, we know Persona 4 The Golden will come on Spring, and so Zero no Kiseki Full Voice Edition.
Then, we have Little King Story that should come on Spring as well.
Maybe Ys4 can be a game coming in Q1.
Moreover, one of the Vita launch games has been delayed.

...Err, yeah.
That's it, so far.
A black hole if something doesn't change rapidly.

Marvelous raises Earnings Expectation thanks to Vanillaware and...

http://andriasang.com/comysi/

Marvelous AQL raise its midterm and annual earnings forecasts today.

Back in May, the company said that it expected sales for the first six months of the year (April through September) to be 2,500 million yen, with a 160 million yen operating loss and a 185 million yen net loss. Today, the company said that it expects sales of 2,812 million yen, an operating gain of 30 million yen, and a net gain of 192 million.

For the full year, the company raised its sales forecasts from 7,000 million yen to 12,000 million, its operating income forecast from 230 million yen to 1,030 million yen, and its net income forecast from 180 million yen to 3,140 million yen.

As reason for the stronger-than-expected performance, the company cited strong sales of Senran Kagura on 3DS and Vanillaware's Grand Knights History on PSP. Outside of its digital contents business, the company said that some of its video content surrounding Pretty Cure and Yu-Gi-Oh performed well.

EDIT: I'M LATE AAARGH XD

No, 3rd parties just want to take advantage of the PSP userbase, that has nothing to do with Vita.

PS:
@MPL90
doesn´t look too promising with mainly just ports for Vita.

It's 90% otaku stuff though, mostly ADVs. Reminds me of 360's "exclusive Japanese support" near the end.

What I don't understand, however, is why Sony packed so much the launch date, with so many games... and so, they have a very bad Q1 AND there aren't other announcements for the next period so far.
I mean, why so many games. In my opinion, it would have been better a launch with...let's say...13-15 games.
This is Vita's launch lineup

Army Corps of Hell
Asphalt: Injection
Blazblue: Continuum Shift Extend
Dark Quest Alliance
Dream Club Zero Portable
F1 2011
Katamari Damacy No-Vita
Lord of Apocalypse
Mahjong Fight Club: Shinsei Zenkoku Taisen Han
Makai Senki Disgaea 3 Return
Michael Jackson The Experience HD
Minna no Golf 6
Minna to Issho
Monster Radar
Power Smash 4
Ridge Racer
Sawari Makuru
Shin Kamaitachi no Yoru: 11 Hitome no Suspect
Shin Sangoku Musou Next
Shinobido 2: Sange
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Uncharted: Chizu no Bouken no Hajimari
Yuusha no Kiroku

Seeing what happened to 3DS, seeing past launches, there has to be some balance between what you launch with the console and what you launch after the console is released.
My perfect launch lineup should comprehend:

1 Very big title ( 1000k and more )
1 Big title (500k - little less than 1000k)
2 Mid-Big titles (300-500k)
3 Mid titles (200-250k)
3 Mid-low titles (100-200k)
3 Low titles (Less than 100k)

And these titles should be of various genres, to cover since launch the demand for some genres, creating bases for other similar games.

3DS had the very big title (Nintendogs), the big title (Layton), and while it lacked a mid-big title, it had a mid titles (Samurai Warriors will reach 200k as LTD), and some mid-low titles (SSFIV, PES, Ridge Racers), and then the two low titles. And there was variety.

Vita would have been launched perfectly with, let's say... these titles.

Minna no Golf 6 (Possibly big title)
Dynasty Warriors Next (Another possibly big title)
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (It can appeal some people, and it should be a mid-low title)
Disgaea 3 Returns (Another mid-low title)
Touch My Katamari (As well)
Shin Kamaitachi no Yoru: 11 Hitome no Suspect (it could surprise)
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (attracting the fighting userbase)
Power Smash 4 (little title, but at launch with not so much competition it could do good)
Mahjong Fight Club: Shinsei Zenkoku Taisen Han (it's Mahjong, it's the Ridge Racer of Konami XD )
Ridge Racer (the obvious one)
Lord of Apocalypse

So, games as Blazblue, Dream Club Zero Portable, Shinobido 2, etc.... would have been dated for the rest of Q1, having so much more possibility of doing better than in a clustered launch, and would have obtained giving "life" to a console that, after the launch, seems... dead.
As the Wii.

Mostly otaku ADV?

Gundam-Age
God Eater 2
Time Travelers
Yakuza: Black Panther 2
Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Masou Kishin I & II
Kidou Senshi Gundam: Mokuba no Kiseki
Tales of Heroes
Suikoden
Shining Blade

Not bad for year 8. And all of those games were announced in the last two months.

The reason is simple. They have to deliver good launch sales for marketing purpose and don´t have a big system-seller at launch, the biggest seller they have at launch is HotShotGolf 6, so they take the other approach and try to appeal to as many niches as possible.

Right, I was just puzzled seeing that freshly posted chart I was referring to, that is allegedly related to the 41st week, not the 42nd as erroneously stated.

First days reports.

Type-0 opened strong but how strong is unknown, the general impression is it had a good start.

Kirby the same, maybe stronger than expected, retailers are confident it will show the usual Kirby legs at holidays.

Not surprised at Kirby doing well, being a more traditional take, and the idea to give it NSMB-style four player would have no doubt helped as well.

First days reports.

Type-0 opened strong but how strong is unknown, the general impression is it had a good start.

Whats was retailer initial expectations for Kirby? I know Kirby games are leggy, but a stronger start is always a good sign.

Capcom has provided their shipment prediction for MH3G, and it's 1.2 million copies by the end of the fiscal year.

Seems a bit low, especially considering Capcom's habit in recent years of grossly overestimating sales for some of their games, but maybe they're playing it safe.

Because of Japanese sales numbers? Cause they are really a good indication of trends right?

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

I think Capcom might only provide shipment forecasts for games they expect to pass 1 million units.

Weird, since their mayor titles in the first half sold all below 500K

But this isn't forecast, they are the shipments they achieved.

Even Iwata has very high expectations for this December in Japan.

I would also like to share the data for the Japanese market. Japan was the first market to popularize the Nintendo DS, and it is therefore difficult for the cumulative sales of the Nintendo 3DS to catch up with the cumulative sales of Nintendo DS after its second year-end sales season, but by looking at the increase after the markdown of the Nintendo 3DS, we can see that the sales pace is now even better than that of the Nintendo DS in the corresponding period, so I think we can imagine large growth for the Nintendo 3DS in the year-end sales season.
Next week, after the launch of “Super Mario 3D Land,” we would like the Nintendo 3DS to become explosively widespread and sweep away some reports that game-dedicated devices are coming to an end.

Yeah, a conservative number for MH3G.

That would be selling to roughly half of the 3DS' current audience (granted, the 3DS will of course sell more over the xmas season)

I wouldn't really call it that conservative.

What would Nintendo do without franchises?

1.2 million is definitely doable for MH3G.

Honestly if Monster hunter 3G sold no more than 1.200.000 copies by 1st April 2012 I would consider it as a huge failure altogether; personally I would go instead for a prediction of at least 1.5 mln, and I'm also expecting it to give hardware sales a significant boost.
