Media Create Sales: Week 48, 2014 (Nov 24 - Nov 30)

[PS3] Dragon Age: Inquisition # <RPG> (Electronic Arts) {2014.11.27} (¥7.884) - 11.294 / NEW

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Very nice.

Yeah, DA:I's debut is pretty nice, especially considering how the PS4 SKU was the clear winner here...something that I think didn't happen since Destiny, right? I mean, aside from Japanese games, other titles on both PS3 and PS4 saw very close debuts between the two consoles, didnt' they?

Week of bombas. There must be something related to saturation of certain markets. Hardcore? Mid-sized games? Dunno, but probably there is a limit on what they can sell at a time, and it becomes worse with strong holiday titles eating part of their potential audience.

I wonder if Nova sold so low at retail because of the very poor first demo or the included 30% off download version code. The latter might have made more people buy the download version instead.

Expected way more sales for Nova. Another franchise dying ... or on the false platform.

Dragon Age: Inquisition sold more on PS4 than on PS3. A hint that particularly people oriented to play western games buy PS4 in Japan.

Another Etrian Odyssey type game? Seems they release a new one every week ...

what's happening here ?
don't answer "winter holidays effect" cause AC was already rising last week

AC is a constant seller; last week increase was not that big, and anyway holiday season for some titles begins earlier (other 3DS games were already increasing).

While I agree that quite a few ppl (not that many though) may have bought digital version, I also think that lukewarm reception of the first demo has something to do with low sales :(

And as for decent sales of Phantasy Star franchise on PSP was, eh, really should have been helped by Monster Hunter also (not saying PSP entries were bad, just to make sure).

First weeks:

[PSP] Phantasy Star Portable - 329,455
[PSP] Phantasy Star Portable 2 - 284,883
[PSV] Phantasy Star Nova - 107,638

[3DS] Etrian Odyssey IV - 95,506
[3DS] Etrian Odyssey Untold - 88,278
[3DS] Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold - 59,531

RIP in peaces

To be fair PS Portable series is part of the PS Universe franchise, while Nova is not.
And the Etrian Odyssey Untold games are remakes.
Below expectations, sure, but they didn't sold SO BAD

07./04. [3DS] Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate # <ACT> (Capcom) {2014.10.11} (¥6.264) - 27.001 / 2.254.777 <80-100%> (-1%)

Let's see how it will hold during holidays. It might be around 2.5m before the end of the holidays.

06./05. [3DS] Yo-kai Watch 2: Ganso / Honke <RPG> (Level 5) {2014.07.10} (¥4.937) - 31.122 / 2.916.899 <80-100%> (+33%)
09./09. [3DS] Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS <FTG> (Nintendo) {2014.09.13} (¥5.616) - 16.060 / 1.820.166 <80-100%> (+19%)

Evergreen titles in full force. YW2 will definitely sell 3m even with the expansion coming. SSB is going to reach the 2m mark in January.

27./13. [3DS] Sumikko Gurashi: Koko ga Ochitsukundesu <ETC> (Nippon Columbia) {2014.11.20} (¥5.184) - 4.878 / 15.179 <40-60%> (-53%)

Nice hold for the next 3DS sleeper hit!

I am shocked people expected more than that for PSN. The game really does not look much different than PSO2. I would never pay money for that game when I could just play PSO2 for free.

Holy bomba week.

I can't even begin to offer an explanation on Phantasy Star Nova's sales, they're miles worse than I was expecting, even with massively lowered expectations thanks to radio silence/demo/COMG.

Etrian Odyssey seems to have underperformed too, especially since all the original reports said that the series was always consistent in sales.

And Hero Bank... I dunno why they bothered.

On the plus side, Fate/Hollow did really well. Senran Kagura did alright for an already released game too, imo, and Dragon Age is a decent opening.

Can't really call it on Edo Blacksmith and Resi Remaster. They don't seem like great sales, but it depends what expectations were.

Wonder which tracker is correct on 3DS sales... bit of a difference there. Vita bump is cool, but won't be sustained =/

Sega originally expected 500k units. Then the company revised the forecast, but I doubt they expected less than 300-350k units.

Ouch... I'd love to know what happened here. I doubt the EOV announcement is responsible, and first EOU was well-received.

saturation,

We all could see it from miles away. they are milking the series to death.

you don't release 1 or 2 games per year on a fanbase that barely exceeds 100k FW with each main iteration.

With a first week like this they'll be lucky to even make 200k now. Sega should've probably made it PS3 multi.

Given the problems people are mentioning as reasons to affect PSNova performance, it couldn't have been released in every platform and it would sell the same, only split among platforms.

Oof.
Disappointing numbers for both Nova and EOU2.
I think some were right when they posited that PSO2's continued popularity may have bit into Nova's strength.
All told, PS Nova is an excellent, excellent game.

I hope this is just an isolated dip, as I'm still expecting some fairly sizable numbers for GE2:RB in a few months. I'm all in on the PS4 version, and with online infrastructure already in place, that promises to be a dynamite release.

Hopefully, it goes selling around 150,000 in the end and gives Nintendo confidence that launching games just before the holiday season can be a good idea, especially on the "lower prices" part.

Aww yeah :)

Already got mined pre-ordered (together with Dragon Quest Heroes, Yakuza 0 and Type 0 HD).

I hate this world.

I'll stay positive but I hope it's just a reaction to Untold not being that great, maybe they'd even rethink the whole changes to the series that have been made since Untold.

It seems more like the bolded than anything else, same deal as Gaist Crusher. I just kinda thought they would've halted those kind of plans when they saw everything else of this kind crater (Gyrozetter; Gaist Crusher and their original game).

Maybe the holidays will save it. Doesn't seem like a particularly worthwhile venture though.

No worries, this was just the previous step for Tri-Ace before they get a big fat check from SE, recover all the talent lost and start working in a glorious Valkyrie Profile: Hrist.

I don't want to hear it duckroll :_(
