Yes, but they are in third place and losing ground. They are off to a worse start, comparatively, than Xbox One.
It already Wednesday in some parts of the world lolTomorrow is Wednesday btw
They are still third in a field of 3.
And yeah, revenue increase during a console launch period should go without saying. We're talking about sales on a platform at the end of its life-cycle being outmatched by its successor products. If revenue was flat or declining then the entire brand would have to be seen as circling the drain!
Exactly when did anyone else launch a home console they are second in a 2 company race. They are 3rd based on what?
40% is the increase in Gaming services only.Of course revenue is going to be up, they launched two consoles during the quarter! All of gaming is up that goes for every gaming company, a 40 percent jump isnt impressive.
okFolks none of that 15 billion came from xbox, and a 40 percent jump in revenue from the xbox division is for the xbox division, not microsoft as a whole. A 40 percent IN REVENUE jump during a console launch, one of which was 500, dollars isnt that great. Theres nothing to celebrate here unless your MS stock holder, but we're talking xbox here.
This is a long game and Microsoft have been planning for the long game. Sony are winning for now but the future looks far more promising for Xbox.Does PlayStation even stand a chance?
You can't just buy anyone you want just because you may have the money to. That isn't how that works LMAO$15B in the bank and that's just for one quarter, right? They can buy a Bethesda every quarter and still have $8B leftover to party on. Or they could just pay cash to buy Sony.
There are plently of numbers for you to dive in to.
It can't be compared really, both Microsoft and Sony can't meet the demand for these consoles currently, so both in terms of revenue are far under what they would be.How is this compared to Xbox One launch quarter?
Quite right, why would they even want Sony is the more appropriate question? You can't just buy anyone you want just because you may have the money to. That isn't how that works LMAO
They are 3rd based on what?
They are 3rd based on what?
Gamepass was at around 10m last January wasn't it, so an 8m jump in 12 months, that's pretty impressive.Xbox Live MAU >100m
Game Pass subs >18m
Exactly what I predicted lol
idk lolWhats funny?
percentage increases are percentage increasesPercentage increase comparators are pretty meaningless without the basis numbers they're comparing to.
E.g.
An 89% increase from $1m is $1.89m which is a moderate increase but still pretty pathetic. Whereas an 89% increase over $100m is $189m which is waaaaay more impressive.
Without knowing the absolute numbers being compared to, these percentage increase figures don't really tell us anything.
For one, we have every indication (from NPD numbers) that Xbox hardware sales have been pretty poor for years. So at least for the hardware sales revenue percentage increase, we have some basis with which to frame it.
Maybe console sales???
Thank you for this ostensible truism. Percentage increases are percentage increases... no shit sherlock!percentage increases are percentage increases
you are talking your ass out
Hardware and software sales in every major global territory. Xbox is still mainly a console brand, and Nintendo and Sony are outselling them handily.
If they were in such a commanding position why would they be investing billions on acquisitions?
Look, its a positive result no question. But it simply doesn't justify the tub-thumping some people are doing. No offence, but just look at what results are being reported here based on what's actually changed in their product line-up in the marketplace. They break it down in the gaming section of the live doc linked in the OP.
so you live in a reality where a 100% increase (a double) of a cent is lesser than a 100% increase (still a double) of a billionThank you for this ostensible truism. Percentage increases are percentage increases... no shit sherlock!
You've presented no meaningful counterpoint. You've only demonstrated your own ineptitude and inability to conceive a rational thought.
You are correct hardware for the first few years is sold at a loss, however more hardware sold means more software potentially. What makes Microsoft different to Sony is Gamepass, now its obviously making money but they need more subs to attract the big publishers to get the games on release day. If they do that then Sony are in trouble going forward.Console sales? Consoles are just 1 part of Xbox. Microsoft has said over and over they want you playing on any device. PC, console mobile and soon TVs. That is why we have hardware, software and services.
Revenue decides who is in what place. If Xbox division starts to make the most money then they are in 1st place and its coming. Only a matter of time.
