Really surprised so many are still playing it, it doesn’t have infinite content and the game does not have full mod support yet, so there isn’t really new quests or location mods. They really do love the game to replay it again and again. I do have to say the char creation modders like toarie and vemperen are really heroes of this game. Without the enhanced character art I probably won’t enjoy the game as much.

Excellent. We need more frequent threads praising this game.
I have beaten it once and I still spend a lot of time redoing things in my various saves I made throughout my first playthrough. I also have other playthroughs with friends and solo ones I made. Absolute GOTY material and a historic achievement on Larian's part - especially against the backdrop of the general gaming industry.

Hows the patches coming along? Played for 15 or so hours loved what i saw but got distracted. Going to restart after Christmas i think when i can give it the attention it deserves.

Looks like a lock for GOTY.

Maybe I should play this
I never care about stories. This game made me care about its story.

I don’t like RPGs. This game made me like it, an RPG.

By all logic, I should not have even purchased this game, yet it’s probably my current GOTY. Everyone should try this game, imo.

It’s not without its flaws, but where it excels, it’s probably best-in-class.

Well deserved. This is a much bigger achievement than they other thread about Starfield about a AAA game that is advertised and on both console and PC vs a giant hit as mainly a PC exclusive at first.

It does help BG3 that Starfield is mediocre too

Ive never played anything by Larian but I sure do love me some RPG goodness.

Ill jump on this once I have a legit clean slate. Too much other stuff this year. Expect a LTTP thread from me in the coming months.

okay, i've been saving up all my spare change, & will finally be able to buy this in a week. i enjoyed, but couldn't finish either divinity games, but if it simply provides as many hours of enjoyment as they both did, i'll be happy...

If you like to do every quest possible and explore every single area you may spend 120/130 hours in act 1 and 2
Which is great because they are perfect as it is now
Act 3 is in a much better state right now but because of some bugs I had to find workarounds to complete some quests the way I wanted

God knows that tastes vary and you may not like but... Baldur's Gate 3 was the best "investment" I have made in recent memory regarding entertainment
I paid R$ 200 (full price) and had 170 hours of fun, and I didn't even finish the game, so it will be probably R$ 1,00 por hour of fun.

I'm obsessed with it . Playing separate playthroughs on both PC and PS5.. . About to finish 2nd playthrough on each then start another play

This game is so good, every game went into my backlog for months since its release. It is worth skipping whatever you are playing to get this game right now. It sounds crazy, but you'll see when you play it.
I am playing Torment Tides of Tunemera, this game is about reading a lot and like it....Does BG 3 has good writting ? Nice story?

It has much better writing, better characters and much better story. Numera was mediocre.

Main thing there are so many choices driving BG3, it’s crazy. There are huge number of options from quest completions to boss fights. It’s kind of crazy.

Owl Bear bomb is still my favorite though.

Three or four of my friends have been balls deep in this for weeks now and the more I watch the more I'm tempted to give it a try.

It's really not my kind of game, but they all swear it's great, so maybe I'm missing out.

Any idea how it's doing on PS5?

Probably pretty well.

It would be interesting to see a PC first game win GOTY at the game awards. Most of the time it seems like console gets the priority in the all inclusive popularity contests.

It was only PC-exclusive for about a month, regardless I don’t think TGA will care either way, especially as the above links show the game has clearly been a hit on consoles as well.

Sales numbers don't really impact GOTY that much, though. If they did we'd see more influence from the annual cookie cutter sports titles and COD's in the GOTY space given their position on sales charts at various times of the year. BG3 being where it was on the PS5 charts really wasn't that surprising given the lack of pretty much anything else that wasn't sports releasing around that time. Not saying the game isn't great, but it also wasn't really competing with many other games and it still was downloaded less on PS5 in the US and UK during release month than the top sportsball games in each region.

My point is that some genres just don't get the same nod toward GOTY that more traditional action adventure games seem to. I could definitely be wrong, but I think something like Zelda would beat out a CRPG like BG3 not because it's a better game but because it has more mainstream appeal.

It’s so, so good. I wish I had free time like all these people on their third playthrough or whatever. Do these people have jobs?

Anyway, I just finished Act 2 at about 55 hours of play time. It’s really impressive how the game continues to give you interesting situations and colorful dialogue. Every combat encounter has some kind of unique twist to it. There are tons of fights that are apparently the only time a given enemy type appears in the whole game!

It’s almost painful just knowing how much stuff I’m not seeing because there are so many choices and different ways for things to play out. Heck, when you transition from Act 1 to 2 you have a choice of two paths to take. Each path is like an entire chapter of the game in itself with numerous stories, quests, characters, locations, etc. that you might never even see.

The OP is going to be shocked when he realizes that this game supports online, multi-player coop. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

TotK might have its chances reduced a little because BotW already took the prize in 2017. Repeats may be a little less likely, though there has yet to be something of an actual precedent.
