LMAO Anthony Newman is the co-game director of TLOU2 mate.
I dunno what you're on aboutand Mark Cerny is the Play Station Architect.
both have a separate contract.
Which is worse?People shat on Phil Spencer for not delaying/canceling Redfall now people shit on sony for the re-evaluation of a project that's not up to snuff....#gamers

David Jaffe should knowI dunno what you're on about
That is not what I mean.I don't get this thought process. You're basically saying developers shouldn't try to make GaaS titles because the competition is too strong.
I never said it's going to guarantee success because it passed their test, it just means it's likely headed int he right direction.
New single-player IPs are a risk and so are GaaS titles. Sony can't keep making single-player games. They have to do different things. If this ABK deal does in fact go through then having successful GaaS games becomes more important.
EXTRACTION LOOTER SHOOTER EXTREME
Man I bet they caught wind of how tired the public is of these projects, then opened up TLOUmp.exe and noticed their Purple Crowbar with +4.7% Stability and thought "ya know maybe this isn't such a good idea..."
Could be that or now that Sony has Bungie, they decided to leverage Bungie's expertise with what they were attempting to do with The Last of Us.This MP project is definitely in development hell, it's been in the works since pre TLOU2.
Late 2024 at best imo.
Bleeding talent like a stuck pig certainly hasn't helped them. That is a known issue. The junior/senior ratio and extensive contract work the last few years makes all of this quite obvious that those listed efficiencies are a thing of the past.Trust me dude. If I and others started personally insulting everyone on this board who has a reputation, this place would become a fucking shithole. We should discuss the content of the post. Nothing I said was out the ordinary, just pure common sense and logic.
They have had issues because they have never been a two team studio, but the numbers dont lie.
U2 to U3 - 2 years
U3 to TLOU - 2 years
TLOU to U4 - 3 years
U4 to ULL - 1 year
ULL to TLOU2 - under 3 years despite the hack and pandemic affecting shipment of the game delaying it by another month.
2-3 years is really efficient all things considered.
Something changed after 2020. They shouldve begun development on TLOU3 right away but they took over someone else's remake project. Why? Surely they shouldve had their own game lined up. Factions had a separate team that got help from Sony Bend for a while, but what happened to the main TLOU2 team? Why didnt they begun immediately working on their next game?
Looks like Neil went out to do his tv show around that time. I read an article about how he was summoned back to LA from Canada in the middle of shooting the show sometime in 2022 to work on the game. If he wants to go then let him go. Let someone else make video games.
Facing strong competition is obvious. A big reason why many live service games fail is because the game is not that good. At the very least, you want veterans of the industry to look over the project to make sure you're headed int he right direction. That is not what I mean.
The game will face strong competition once it get released, due to the amount of live service games.
Unlike SP games, live service games depends on userbase. So you need to fight for userbase and retain those userbase, otherwise you wont be able to sustain your game in the long term.
To do that, you need to have the content that can attract them and make your game stand out against the rest.
Could be that or now that Sony has Bungie, they decided to leverage Bungie's expertise with what they were attempting to do with The Last of Us.
Fuck sake. That is really disappointing. I hope this isnt because of trend chasing. ie, started as a BR and is now being turned into a pvp extraction style.
Did he say this recently? If so, is there a link?
waiting for your apology laughing man.He is co-President of Naughty Dog lol
I hope they inadvertently cancel all the gaas that will succeed and greenlight the ones that will fail. Bunkrupt all gaas studios.Good. ND has never been great at MP.
Let them focus on SP instead
Hope Bungie cleans up and cancels a bunch of these GaaS titles that are likely to fail
You don't need all hands-on deck to reassess a game. You only need a small team to figure out what is working and what isn't and then you bring the entire team together to implement the changes. So they're increasing their investments in GaaS products..
They have this GaaS product in development for a long time, in one of the most popular IP they own..
So they scale down the dev team?
Low point of the gen for Sony, I'd say. And they were riding pretty high for a while.
It's more like:Which is worse?
A) Scrap a project you have sunk millions of dollars into and years of peoples lives
B) Push it out the door and recover some of whats lost
Both tactics get destroyed by us
You'd have a point if we weren't spoilt for choice with games already. At least 5 years of waiting…
BRUH
Nice Money and time waste Jimbo and Hermen, was worth to close Japan studio for this Crap... or not

Naughty dog wasted time making this game, instead of making new game or the last of us 3.who cares Sony is selling PS5 units and making money.
well, i'd say it's just as likely that they 'didn't know how to'? that seemed to be bungie's take:I wouldn't categorize it that way. They've had a successful multiplayer game. But this is a different animal and there's a chance they didn't want to dumb it down towards monetizing and that's what GaaS games end up being for the most part.
Not at all. The reason is important in this case.
And the report clearly mentions the reason, i.e., Bungie thought that long-term engagement and monetization will be difficult. Nowhere does it say that the game wasn't coming along, or it was stuck in pre-production, or devs kept leaving: which are all examples of development hell.

that could be itIf I had to guess, they're just going to scale this down and make it part of The Last of Us Part III multiplayer (If the game is currently in development).
Jaffe isn't a reliable source on Naughty Dogs employment situations lol, and even if Neil's employment is through sub contracting what does that have to do with him leaving? For most people sub contracting just means they can manage their tax affairs and gain a bunch of employment benefits through their.own LLC. He was promoted to co-President after TLOU2 came out, he just started a new project.Game Devs Getting MAD!+What's Bugging Sessler?+2023 CHANGES For Gaming!

Like I said already in other threads, Sony are morons.
Why are you making teams who have pretty much perfected a certain style of game and putting them on GAAS crap?
Also making good and successful GAAS games is not easy or cheap. 99% fail, you need to get lucky to be successful. Fornite becoming what it has is pure luck combined with right time right place. The game wasn't even intended to be what it's become.
Jim Ryan and Hulst are wasting everyones time, this will be Playstation's Halo Infinite.
Not at all. The reason is important in this case.

Why not?A big part of it is that this project shouldn't even exist in the first place.
If I had to guess, they're just going to scale this down and make it part of The Last of Us Part III multiplayer (If the game is currently in development).
