New Zealand's new flag might be Silver Fern (Red, White, and Blue)

It really shits me that people are actually giving ISIS this much power. Companies named ISIS shouldn't have to change their name because of those fuckwits, and NZ should not be forbidden from using black & white on their flag.

My initial reaction was 2, but I actually prefer 1. It is so unlike any other flags and would be pretty bold.
The ISIS flag will have come and gone within a decade.
NZ will likely have the new flag for hundreds of years.
Being concerned about comparisons to ISIS is weak enough to begin with, but also shortsighted relative to how long this new flag will exist.

Sorry for the double post but I've finally found a flag I like.
The designer calls it Red Peak.
Obviously it wasn't included in the shortlist, but still.
Oh the chevron thing. It looks more like some medieval banner.

Just about everyone I know, younger and older, supports the current one. Affection for it seems to span generations.
Shame as the new ones look alright and not as shit as the current one. Time to upgrade!

Not sure what it's trying to prove. The chevron is an ancient symbol, it's no surprise shapes like it appear on flags.
In fact there's already a flag just like it. The North American Vexillological Association.

I think they could still be doodled. The Union Flag and Stars and Stripes are incredibly complex from a design point of view, that doesn't stop kids drawing them and being recognisable.
Agreed. I had a tough enough time at school drawing the union jack - I feel sorry for any kid that has to draw a fucking fern.
Yes, the benchmark on flag design should be if some dude on 'GAF can doodle it. What we need is another tri-colour or cross.
