Nintendo Downloads - June 2013

I really don't want to be that guy, but the fact that Super Mario RPG is one of those games including the SA-1 chip makes it very unlikely. The SA-1 is emulated correctly only by bsnes/higan, a quite demanding emulator.

Well, it's on the Wii VC...

edit: having the exact same response as the person before me is weird...

I'm more interested in seeing if we're getting Star Fox/Yoshi's Island this time around.

Not out in North America yet for some reason.
I've thought it could be localisation. I'm not kidding. Coming up with the names for the games. Like how Streetpass Quest is Find Mii over in America.

There is some speculation it is down to Nintendo not owning the Super FX itself and who knows who the current rights holder is (if there is one or they are aware they have it).

Though like the patent on the SNES itself has expired, couldn't it expire on the chip too?

I always thought it was more of an emulation problem myself.

They should just release the GBA version of Yoshi's Island. No problems with that one, right?

Legally, no, but Yoshi makes all these goddamn sounds.

I am also disappointed that they didn't call the GBA port "Super Mario Advance 3: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island".

Well, it's better than nothing. Personally, I don't care nearly as much as I used to since I bought an actual SNES cart of the game a few months back. I'd still buy a VC copy of either version though.

Why wasn't I born Japanese :'[

This so much, *sigh* hopefully in the next life I will be reborn as a Japanese child.

For some inexplicable reason Square Enix doesn't want users to post screenshots of their games on Miiverse. I always thought Dragon Quest X did this to prevent people from sharing private information via chat, but now there are reports that it's also not possible to post screenshots of Final Fantasy VI and Secret of Mana in their Miiverse communities. What a bummer. :(

Somehow that doesn't surprise me.

The distortion effects in Touch Fuzzy and other places are no longer continuous, they're discrete. It looks weird.

I still find it weird that Nintendo somehow managed to make Yoshi high on drugs and get away with it. Then again no one called them out on Princess Peach's underwear in the Smash Bros game.

Kokuga is very tempting especially if some of the Ikaruga people worked on it, but $15 is close to my limit I spend on digital games, especially handhelds. Think I might wait for a sale or when I have more money. Otherwise, I look forward to reading impressions/reviews.

Secret of Mana?

Finally, 3 players co-op made easy without that weird multitap adapter! And I've been craving to replay FFVI for a while, so I think I'll just wait a bit longer and get this version.

I'll be jumping in for both of them.

I had it on the Wii VC but I just picked this up for the Wii U. The "upgrade" was cheap but there's no way to transfer your save game. I knew that a head of time but it still kind of sucks.

Edit: Just in case any one is curious, your Wii VC version is untouched so of course I can finish the game in Wii mode.

Anyone gonna try this: Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove™ Mini

Curious how it compares to the full game, and if the full game was any good.

I'm pretty interested in D&D, but it seems Nintendo has screwed the pooch yet again :(

I'd totally buy it, too! I've never played it but always heard it was badass. I'd love to play it with my kids.

No chance at all it will come out today then?
It wasn't listed on the press site, so sadly, it's not coming today. Not sure how much longer Nintendo is keeping it in the approval process.

Somehow I blame Iwata for this...

Hmm, I'm interested in that myself. The full game looked very charming, but I couldn't really bring myself to pay asking price, and it's not exactly readily available either.

edit: price is $3.99 BTW

Weird that D&D suffers another unforeseen delay. And has there been any word on Genny or TG-16 titles making to cross to WiiU yet? They're sitting on a treasure trove of content to (re)make money on!

No word. I seriously doubt that TG-16 games will ever make an appearance due to Konami killing off Hudson, but I'm fairly confident that Genesis games will make it in time.

Genesis games are guaranteed to come eventually.

Why the hell did they delay Pilotwings at the last minute? Are they really going to start trickling out games one by one?

Nintendo's press site has the update up:

I hate to be such a whiny bitch, but seriously, only one game for the Wii U VC and nothing on the Wii U Eshop? I want to spend money on your games Nintendo, but seriously, this is it? I feel like I'm in here bitching about this every week.

I'm so raging. :(

Also, the 20 bonus coins will be added to your account on July 1st, so they won't count for Platinum this year.

So I checked out the Urban Trial Freestyle 3DS trailer and it looks pretty good. I'm very confused at how this relates, if at all, to the Trials series. Clearly it looks like it does, but I don't see any dev connection or anything. I was a big fan of Trials HD on the 360 and would be interested in a similar experience on the go.

I've looked up news recently about Hudson got the impression that the killing off aspect has been kind of exaggerated. Konami mostly absorbed everything. Hudson's website still exists, Konami owns all their IP and operations... I think they are still a functional group, however small, and probably being used to help out Konami proper, or do contract work for Konami.

Anyways, the point being, if Nintendo still has a relationship with Konami and Hudson as far as VC goes, TG-16 items are still viable.

Damn, I really wanted me some Pilotwings today.

Maybe I'll have to pick up Vegas Stakes so I can cheat at gambling (save states) while watching bad TV. Was there much of a story to that one, or am I thinking of Vegas Dream or possibly Casino Kid?

This is the first step to Nintendo's virtual console rollercoaster. I experienced the same emotions through the 3DS launch.

There were so many droughts that could have been addressed through vc releases, but nothing

You are here:

1) RAGE

Then comes the following, in order:

2) FRUSTRATION

3) EXPLAINING AWAY (rationalization)

4) APATHY

5) DISINTEREST

I'm at disinterest. See you in about a year or so.

People have been reporting that the demo for Fire Emblem: Awakening has been temporarily pulled down in EU. I have no idea what's up with this.
