so bitterCan't we just go back to the last what, 7 years, of NPD threads where it's just a sea of kratos/drake/ratchet/killzone/ellie avatars chanting "BEAST!!" repeatedly to each other while shitting on xbox? At least that way I knew not to even bother looking.
Weird that the Xbox sold more since it's more supply constrained than the PS5 though. Either the PS5 shipped less this month to stores, or there are some sitting on shelves/warehouses at some store? Seems unlikely to be the second.
Nintendo gonna nintendo though. They're the real "BEAST!!!!" console in terms of sales though. Years and years of everyone gushing over the PS4 as the greatest of all time and the little ol' "underpowered" switch is just rolling along making the "beast" look like a little hamster. How long til the Switch has sold more lifetime than the PS4? Probably only 12-18 months max by now right? Hell I wouldn't be surprised if the Switch outsells the PS5 from the PS5s launch too. Insane smash hit by Nintendo.
You already had 8 years of a sea of Master Chief avatars shitting on Playstation before that. Can't we just go back to the last what, 7 years, of NPD threads where it's just a sea of kratos/drake/ratchet/killzone/ellie avatars chanting "BEAST!!" repeatedly to each other while shitting on xbox?
Who knew your post would create so much salt? Some of you take this stuff way too seriously. How does one get to a point where because the console you prefer didn't sell as well as the one you don't, results in anger, frustration, and hurt feelings?
Outside of shareholders of course.
Just showing of my zelda controller. My Xbox and PlayStation controller are meh, compared to this beauty controller.is this supposed to prove something?
They have no idea how consoles are made, so they fight over these figures. Why is everyone bitching over which console sold more and not cheering on Ratchet & Clank? Fantastic game. Glad it's doing well.
Where’s that fella who always reminds us that there is still a single series S console available at some little store in Poland when you need him?!They have no idea how consoles are made, so they fight over these figures.
All I know is, both systems would have a hard time producing more consoles. Its not the demand problem. Its the fact that, their is a chip shortage. Both companies have a hard time getting enough chips, to produce more consoles.
Its why we have alot of cross gen games. Not enough consoles can be made, until 2023.
Covid took a major hit on these chips, plus crypto currency made it worse.
R&C charted as expected. June was a slow month so anything but #1 would've been disappointing. Why is everyone bitching over which console sold more and not cheering on Ratchet & Clank? Fantastic game. Glad it's doing well.
You wanna hear a funny story.Where’s that fella who always reminds us that there is still a single series S console available at some little store in Poland when you need him?!
You’re absolutely spot on. The only thing that console sales tell us at this stage is who makes the most consoles. That’s it. Both are selling every single console that they can produce. In June MS had more to sell than Sony. That’s literally all this means.
God I hope I’m alive to see the day when sales results aren’t more in demand than actual games.

why the revisionism? Ratchet and Clank is and was a significant franchise, each entry selling millions of copies, the ps2 games all sold about 3 million each and the ps3 games did a bit betterratchet was never too big of an ip so its a little surprising to see it hitting number 1 in so many regions. especially when you consider how small the ps5 insall base still is. at the same time though, since the ps4 gen, sony have been seeing some ridiculous growth of their ip. so not surprising that ratchet and clank is also seeing growth.
Yeah I mean anyone with sense knows that any PS5 or Xbox Series that hits shelves is as good as gone... what's the point of arguing? Like you said, all that means is Xbox had more on shelves than Sony did this month. They have no idea how consoles are made, so they fight over these figures.

and the ps4 game was insomniacs best seller until spider man
so probably 5-6 million copies? that is hardly a small IP
Well, if you want an Xbox Series X you come to Dominican Republic. They are sitting on shelves here. Several online stores are the ones selling both PS5 and Xbox Series. PS5 disc edition no bundle, plain as white rice is usually priced $60,000 Dominican Pesos = around US$1,040 taxes included whereas for the Series X the prices range from $35,000-$37,000 Dominican Pesos = around US$608-640 tax included and *usually with 2 years of Game Pass included too* PS5 is always on very high demand, Xbox Series is always available and not a single store prices it above $640 and yet they are always in this price wars with plenty of stock.Yeah I mean anyone with sense knows that any PS5 or Xbox Series that hits shelves is as good as gone... what's the point of arguing? Well in my country is very easy to find, but no store dares try to sell it over US$640 since no one would buy it (they can always get a better deal), while the PS5 they ask as much as US$1100 and people keep buying whatever they can get a hold of.xbox series x is hard to find. believe me, ive been looking. series s though is looking like a complete flop. ive seen multiple retailers doing special offers. they are obviously having trouble shifting stock. nobody really asked for a half assed "next gen" console like that but i guess microsoft wanted to have the cheapest entry into next gen. may have worked in the past but customers are more informed than ever these days because everyone is pretty much connected to the internet 24/7.

I'm just curious to see how this plays out because I though the Xbox Series S was going to be a big seller huge seller this early in the generation.
People denied that the NPD was likely a result of a PS5 stock issue and we can see that the Xbox Series S has a lot of stock in the US.
I never heard anyone say that XSS would be the big seller early on.
I though the Xbox Series S was going to be a big seller huge seller this early in the generation.
Early adopters are enthusiasts and they would want the high end model. The XSS is for casuals and will be the system for the long haul as the generation proceeds, the library gets larger, and the price drops. The XSS does NOT have lots of stock in the US. It's always European stores that have the system in stock.
Series S is a gimped model that also looks like a speaker. The branding is not great either. I would wager most consumers don't even know it's the next gen Xbox.Read my comment again.
It has enough stock to where a lot of people can find it at many retailers. The point is, people in this thread were saying people were making excuses by saying its a stock related issue when the Xbox Series S is in stock at a lot of retailers and its not hard to find for many people.
Why would you think the XSS would be a big seller early on especially after a less than stellar last generation? They have to rebuild their reputation. And seeing how this is an NPD sales thread the XSS sells far better in the US than Europe and they aren't nearly as easy to get here. It also helps that the XSS is easier to manufacture so MS has easier time getting stock to stores. This is a benefit of the smaller higher yield SOC.Read my comment again.

You guys want to pretend like there were few Xbox Series S' in stock.

My point still stands. More stock contributed to the figures after so many people denied it was stock related. They have to rebuild their reputation. If a next gen console needs once a year sales to make it stick, I’m not sure it’s a system worth existing.I've not seen anyone say the series s will sell out the gate, it's always been in the future/ later on play.
That system is screaming holiday black Friday box and if there is plenty of stock on shelves available at Xmas get ready for some crazy discounted bundle deals that could shift some serious units.
Interesting to see how many MS have manufactured though. They need to get more series x out there for sure.
Who buys next gen console, without a next gen games? If a next gen console needs once a year sales to make it stick, I’m not sure it’s a system worth existing.
All I can say is thank god. Put the resources into XsX manufacturing instead.

Both systems are lacking heavy hitters.

I followed your link to the PS3 Sales, but I didn't find where they affirm that the PS3 games sold more then the PS3. I don't think this Is true because I believe that R&C games have faced a pretty constant light decrease in sales during the ps2-Ps3 generation starting from the First game at almost 4 millions copies sold to arrive at something Power then 2 millions of Into the Nexuswhy the revisionism? Ok, but there are a lot more casuals out there than hardcore and it’s still in ample supply. it’s not even selling there.while I completely agree with you on the series x production, I think the series s is there for people that aren’t on gaming forums and are a much more casual device to deliver gamepass. I genuinely think it does need to be more enticing. once manufacturing costs come down it needs to offer like 3 to 6 months gamepass out of the box with that SKU.
it’s obviously not selling at the pace of the ps5 or series x and could do with a bump.
It's almost like casuals currently don't have a good reason to buy an XSS.Ok, but there are a lot more casuals out there than hardcore and it’s still in ample supply.
So what you’re saying is casuals are waiting for next gen releases? The multigenerational library doesn’t appeal to them? It's almost like casuals currently don't have a good reason to buy an XSS.
Casuals are keeping their Xbox One until must-have games come out that can't run on an Xbox One.So what you’re saying is casuals are waiting for next gen releases? The multigenerational library doesn’t appeal to them?
Surely you jest.
How many must have games will it take for casuals to buy the casual console?Casuals are keeping their Xbox One until must-have games come out that can't run on an Xbox One.
I think what he's saying is that the casuals that own an Xbox One aren't going to buy A new Xbox console until there are games a significant number of games that aren't available on the console they already own. For example most casuals aren't going to buy the brand new console year one (hell even year 2 tbh) to continue playing CoD/FIFA/2K ETCHow many must have games will it take for casuals to buy the casual console?
Are they buying Xbone instead?

A portable XSS would have been weaker and more expensive as evidenced by the Steam Deck. People are already (falsely) claiming the XSS is holding back the generation. Those folks would go into full mental breakdown if the XSS was even weaker. The XSS is a perfect system for it's core audience, that audience doesn't buy systems early in its life cycle; that's what makes those people casuals. It is a system designed for year 3 on. By that time it will be even cheaper and it's library undeniable.Ok, but there are a lot more casuals out there than hardcore and it’s still in ample supply. it’s not even selling there.
Ms botched it. The only model should have been the XsX, all the core will buy it out anyway. And then. reduce the entry of the XsX to start capturing the casuals.
It’s the core that avangalise a system, you want them on board primarily.
I don’t see it. Xss should have been a portable unit. Now that would have been a dream scenario. In fact, MS probably could have probably propelled themselves a few good steps ahead in the race with such a strategy.
It’s actually not to late. Cancel XsS, send every owner a free XsX upgrade, turn the xss or similar into a handheld. DOMINATE.
Imagine full Xbox gamepass on a handheld? Mind blowing.

Casuals are not dumb, Dark...come on.
