Most of the main roads in the City have been around since the Romans. The names generally give the names of the industry/trade that used to populate them, which is why you have streetnames like Poultry and Threadneedle Street.
I love how much of that old architecture has been preserved through the centuries. It's so amazing how a lot of that was built given the primitive technology (by today's standards) workers had back then.
This kind of stuff is endlessly fascinating to me, and even a bit emotional for reasons I can't quite pinpoint? Specifically the Berlin one, what a trip. Life goes on
