Peter Molyneux praises the recent trailer for Fable as having "that ridiculous energy" of the original

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
I hope they stick with it and the game bombs, it will be funny. These virtue-signalling corporations deserve to fall flat on their face when they keep pushing this agenda.

Microsoft games are all like this now. State of Decay 2 and Forza Horizon all have deeply ugly characters and the devs put more effort into letting you choose your Covid mask colour or prosthetics than actual satisfying gameplay.

Weren't her looks meant to be in contrast to what Richard Ayoade was saying? That being the joke? I don't think it necessarily landed but I think it was intentional.

My biggest concern with this game is I feel they've confused the Fable series as being about fairy tales rather than fantasy / the heroes journey, and also the fact that the narrative in the originals weren't all farce and parody, but mostly serious. It's the surrounding of the narrative that's humorous / whimsical.

I also hope there's not linear action set pieces like the trailer implied and that the gameplay is more systemic like the other games were.

Who gives a shit what characters look like in a Forza Horizon game? The only customization that matters is the horn because you can have the Doom E1M1 music.

People really look for anything to complain about those days.

Well, you have to look at the characters whether you play single player (can't skip cutscenes) or multiplayer. It's a common complaint in the community.

Yes, and this is why we will never have genuinely funny or comedy games, because gamers are fucking retarded and an embarrassment.

They are completely oblivious to any comedy other than recycled memes, the cake is a lie or "WELL THAT JSUT HAPPENED LOL" MCU level humour.

Aside from the campaign part you only see your character 2 seconds in the pre-race screen and 5 in the podium screen.

Plus you can wear one of those if it's really a problem:

I don't know, seems like a big nothingburger to me but I respect it I suppose.

I think you peoples basically are so used to expressionless gaming protagonists that this is your definition of how characters should act :

Facts don't care about your eyes. Her name is Lily Nichol and she's a biological female.

I know some right-wing youtubers (like HeelvsBabyface) were quick to misreport her to be a male (and an employee of Playground Games). But AFAIK that is false.

However, while Lilly Nichol appears like a normal human being IRL, her in-game model is changed, and her character is indeed kinda ugly.. So it begs the question why Playground Games changed her apperance. It would be interesting to understand the thinking behind it, was it a genuine attempt of going outside the box of ideals, wokeness, incompetence, to provoke, IDK.

With that said, not all videogame characters has to be pretty. I kinda like it when characters design is not a carbon copy of ideals - As long as it's not shoehorned or bad art.

nemiroff nemiroff I've seen the actress. There's no way in hell that that model is based on the actress, it bears absolutely no resemblance to her. The character is incredibly ugly, has the body structure of a slim man and has the face of an ugly man. I am not going to speculate why they did that, but they put a man in women's clothes, and put 2 and 2 together....

This is why I only play mostly Japanese games and only select titles from western studios. Too much crap in them.

Well, all I know is that she confirmed on her socials that she was indeed working with Playground Games on this. And she even attached that same image.

I like the new Fable. God forbid you have an woman that is not that attractive. She is the sort of woman that would be a adventurer.

I liked it too, felt very ‘Fable’. Hopefully it’s a good representation of what the actual game will be like.

I know, but look at that instagram page, that's not the same person as that model.

Looks pretty similar to me, some obvious similarities, although the ugliness factor was increased for the game probably deliberately to make sure she doesn't have any sex appeal because that isn't the done thing any more in western games.

Well Pete was a visionary I'll give him that unfortunately he couldn't even get close to his vision. Perhaps PG can actually make good on his ideas with their take on Fable 🤞

Fable 3, yes.

Fable 2 never released on PC.
Did they added the game on steam recently? because i'm pretty sure it wasn't there like 2 years ago.

And, is it good like the first one? i only played than one and loved it, what are the major differences?

I can not believe people are defending that character model. They need to change that before launch unless there are other options.

Some people don't want to let the truth get in the way of a good bit of outrage.

Kind of surprised we do not have updated versions of the Fable games. The best one was 2, which is not available on PC. Would be nice of they released trilogy on PC and latest consoles with updated graphics.

It's actually pretty fascinating and disturbing that people like you exist. Did you literally grow up in a hole where all you consumed was porno?

If the women around you literally look like men, like, where the heck do you live man? I feel so bad for you. :p

Looks like Playground was the right choice to reboot the franchise, great team, great engine and great franchise.
Fully agree.

I have to somewhat agree here, too.
While FH's core gameplay has not been affected of course, since part 4 the entire vibe of the festival has shifted into something shallow and empty. Which usually happens if the highest priority is to not offend and please everybody. I fear something similar for Fable.

Edit:
And my greatest fear is that something like this might happen to Gears as well. I really hope the developers realize how much the mood has changed during the past months.

I had the fortune of interviewing Peter back in 1995. I phoned up Bullfrog and got to his secretary and asked, “can I talk to Peter?” Without hesitating, she said “sure!”

She told me to hang on and 10 seconds later he came on. I told him what I was doing (freelance writer) and asked if I could interview him. He said sure and could give me 15 mins. 1 hour and 30 minutes later, we’re still chatting. It was the best interview I ever conducted. He was really funny and super smart and we talked about games (past and present) and he went in depth on Populous etc. He joked that the reason they decided on raising and lowering lands was because they couldn’t figure out the AI for pathfinding and that by putting an obstacle in the way of the people, it made it a lot easier.

Really nice guy.

Anyway, my random trip down memory lane :)
Would love to read it.

Also, bring back *Dungeon Keeper*.
