I can't help but shake my head at how cheap and foolish some gamers can be. I mean, you (you in general, not you you) are about to decide which console will sit on your living room for the next 5-7 years, and you will let your decision be swayed by 50-100 bucks you'll fork out ONCE during this 7 year period? That's insane.
I dont personally.. I mean clearly a ton of people chose the PS3. People generally need to be persuaded to spend more.
If youre in the store and you see 2 brands you dont recognize and think to yourself "what difference will this make" buying say
a CAN OPENER that you'll use for 10-20 years, and one is 5 bucks and one is 10 ... you may pick the 5 dollar one.
If you recognize the brand and your parents had the same one, you've used it and you know it lasts, youll spend 10 dollars VS the one
you dont know.
If they're both brands you know are good and one has a 399 price tag and one has a 499 price tag.... Yeah I get it half a decade means
the difference is like 20 bucks a year- But the initial BITE is still there.
But that didnt stop the talk of "Wii60" back in 2006 when everyone said NOBODY will buy the PS3 because you can get BOTH of the other
consoles for the same price. Ignore that neither of those machines could play blurays, neither had Wifi built in, neither had standard blutooth,
or whatever else you wanted to point out, value proposition is different depending on your biases, be it brand bias, USAGE bias (Is this product meant for me? Will I use X feature?"
or even just bias to buy a cheaper option or a more expensive option depending on how you look at it and how much it MATTERS to you.
Tons of people buy cheap shitty tires to save 150 bucks over the course of 5 years and it REALLY affects their quality of life but they dont care.
