It won't be this fall since I just bought a new guitar, but it will be in the next 12-18 months for sure that i get one of the 5000 series cards. This is on the condition that they are reasonably good value and not stupid money.

nvidia 5000 series flagship card will likely be $1,999 selling for $2,500 after the AIBs take their cut. They wont release the 5080 or 5070 until next year.

I will get the PS5 Pro for now. Nvidia is pricing me out of their high end cards and im not even that strapped for cash.

Ill just buy games, no real need for upgrades here, unless Nvidia makes a tempting XX103/XX104 card, i expect everything but their 90 and 80 series card to be a lot better and significantly cheaper than ada so i might grab one.

The 5700XT was a pretty good considering it gave similar to flagship performance at much less wattage and a fair price. If RDNA4 can give me 7900XTX like performance at lower wattage or similar to my 6900XT I'd be down to buy it.

Cretinously credulous
I invested a lot in real estate recently so am broke as fuck for next year or so. So nothing.

Save me GAF!!

Edit- and just had an expensive surgery a month back. How did I forget that?!

The 5700 XT did not give similar performance to the 2080 Ti.

5000 series most likely.... just waiting on what they bring to the table to convince me to upgrade.

Other than that, I'm waiting on what is next for Steam Deck and will buy a Switch 2 when it comes out.

My watch list for late 2024/H1 2025:

  • 5800X3D -> 8800X3D
  • 3080 10G -> RTX 5080/5070 Ti (if it can get ~75%+ perf around $1000 or so), RDNA4 seems like they'll only have lower-end GPUs this cycle unfortunately.
  • 5120x1440 240Hz OLED if there's a good sale.
  • Switch 2

Depends on your budget.

An RTX 5090 will likely be far more capable than even what the PS6 will provide. But it's also going to be like $1500+.

Just an FYI, there won't be an 8800X3D.

Zen 1 = 1000, zen 2 = 3000, zen 3 = 5000, zen 4 = 7000, so zen 5 will = 9000.

Even numbers are used for refresh and mobiles.

Zen5 mobile should release this year and should be 8050 unless they intend to break their numbering scheme after only one generation, which would be a very AMD thing to do but maybe they'll treat it as their 2025 lineup. But yeah, whatever AMD ends up calling the Zen5 8-core X3D chip.

A pro upgrade is only gonna cost me like 250 euros, and my pc is still gonna run circles around it so i don't really need a series 5000, i think i'm good until series 6000.

I didn't word that correctly, I meant similar to last gen flagship performance (1080ti / Radeon VII). So if the 8700XT or whatever they decide to call it can be in the ballpark of a 7900XTX/4080 with better RT it'd be a pretty solid gpu - assuming it's priced correctly. I don't expect 4090 performance out of it, but if it can at least match AMD's own flagship I'd be quite happy. My 6900XT holds up well but newer games are starting to stress it a bit.

This is the reason I'll go with AMD the next few cards probably, also I'm afraid of that new power supply cable for now, so I'll probably get newest AMD card whenever it comes, with FSR 3.1 and the fact I care zero about RT on games for now I'll be good. Nvidia pricing is just absurd if only for gaming, and I already have another PC for work stuff so I don't think it's worth it.
