Game looks improved visually but people will still say it looks like a PS2 game.
...
No, I think the entire thing looks equally bad.I guess all you guys care about is graphics. Literally.

I can't argue with that. I'm not into Pokemon either. I just was surprised that virtually every comment was about nothing gameplay related at all.And it's not like the rest of the game looks amazing. It's more pokemon, except in an ugly and barren open world.
And it's not even open world. From the Village you will be sent to these "open areas" to do missions. If you're done you return to the village. It's more pokemon, except in an ugly and barren open world.
BOTW has at least one of those. Probably more but the first made an impression. I noticed because the rest of the game is so good with such attention to detail it was weird they missed that. I quickly forgot about it while playing anyway.
I love how they chose to focus on this lady sweeping dirt outside on a grassy dirt path for the trailer. This is fine.
Exactly this. It's not even the PS2 graphics, it's the horrible visual style and world. It literally looks like a free environment from the Unity store, with some Pokemon in it
you can get this on the Unity store:

Pure CopiumIt’s not the budget that’s the issue with regards to the visuals it’s more the developers experience. They’ve only ever made top down games on a 5flop GPU before Sword and Shield. They’ll get better with experience.
People often forget Switch is a beyond awful phone CPU and sub 200gflop GPU with 2GB of extremely slow RAM. It’s mobile tech from 2015. Pokemon company target 720p and 1080p native so lod, shadow res, textures etc take a hit. The framerate looks solid in this video when a lot of the so called “impossible ports” can drop to 20fps.
games looking bad is almost always the fault of the devs.Edit: Switch is not strong as Sony and Microsoft consoles but it can do much better than Arceus.
It's still unclear to me what this game is supposed to be. From the looks of it, it appears to be a little bit similar to Monster hunter in the sense that there is a central hub where you get your task and then you set out to a limited amount of areas to fufill the task. What's this game even about? Walking and dodging pokemon simulator?
It's not even open world though. From my understanding it's supposed to work more or less like Monster Hunter, you go to a map and stay there for a while doing whatever until you go back to base, then go to a different map.Pokemon fans don't care about quality.
They will see open world Pokemon and
25 million in sales
sorry, but no. Breath of Wild is an infinitely better looking game in pretty much every way.Comments about the art style and technical shortcomics really do surprise me, because this literally looks like Breath of the Wild. Like the same exact engine. And that game was met with glowing praise.
