Maybe I can try flash my card with your BIOS? Will that breath more life into mine or kill mine? lol

Ha...not sure if that's possible, yet...I am sure they'll figure it out someday, though! The Lightning 680s have a BIOS switch so you can have the standard one or switch to the LN2 BIOS which removes the temperature throttling at 70C, allows for more juice to be tossed at the card, etc. - but it becomes extremely temperamental due to the lack of barriers/controls...when you tune it it is awesome but when you are trying to tweak you can really hard lock shit, lol.

They are pretty custom...so who knows if their BIOS would even be something you'd want to run on a reference 680...

I can't even believe how butter these MSI Lightning GTX 680s are. If I could compare PC gaming to a fine wine or smoke or whatever...it'd be the MSI Lightning GTX 680s on a 1080p 120hz screen playing BF3 MP. OC'd to 1250 MHz boost...they just rip through BF3 maxed out. Just in awe. Highly recommended. Could not be happier with them. Temps max out at 55C in BF3 with that OC!!!

The crazy thing was this morning I setup an RMA for both of them...heh. Turns out all of my problems were related to multi-monitor...upgraded to today's beta release and setup on just my 120hz and everything went away. I'm now back to two screens without issue. It was strange.

With all the problems associated with quad-SLI and gaming, definitely go 680 SLI for BF3 MP...and if you're really serious/nuts...go tri-SLI. But quad-SLI brings almost nothing to the table for BF3 that goes beyond what the tri-SLI brings. It almost performs worse than tri-SLI!

I envy you guys out there that can nab a couple binned 670s and go to town for less than $900 for the pair. :)

What case are you using again? I know the MSI cards put heat back into the case...and you getting 55c seems pretty damn good...

Rise from your grave!

My i5 2500k rig is back...HTPC time.

P9355 - MSI Radeon HD 7970 - 1125/1575/stock - i5 2500k @ 4.7Ghz 1.37v - Corsair 16 GB Vengeance LP DDR3 1600MHz - MSI P67A-GD53 - CM Hyper 212+ (Air) - Link

I made the switch from red to green.

Old score P6482 (still the fastest 6970 :D)

New Score

P9270 - EVGA GTX670 FTW (Stock) - 2500K @ 4.8Ghz - 8GB GSkill DDR3 @ 2133Mhz - ASUS P8P67 - Salacious Crumb - Air - Link

Out of the box my 670 is boosting to 1200Mhz. I think the standard fan profile might be holding the card back a bit, it was sitting at 74C during the run with the fan at 46% :/

How is your Unigine Heaven 3.0 score with everything maxed out? This test is known to favor 7970 rather than 680, so I'm curious to see. You have both SLI and CrossFire at hand, right?

Just one 7970 now. Sold the 2nd to fund the Lightning 680 upgrade. Was going to sell both - but the 7970 market is terrible so I just built an HTPC with it.

I'll run Unigine. What settings? I only use it for stress testing so I never do the bench part of it...

I really should re run this test..Have the 690 now, H100, and my CPU is clocked a bit higher...

Yeah! Why not? It'll take 15 min. and enhance your e-peen. :)

Well, here is with 3x 7970:

Fun fact - you could probably buy three 1080p/120hz monitors for what I paid for this 1440p/60hz monitor (the cheapest I could find). And it's still got that nasty anti-glare coating. Oh well, I still think it was worth it. I just don't understand the whole multi-monitor thing.

Is that a U2711? Yeah, you could have gotten 3 27" 1440p Crossovers for what you paid for the Dell. Having just two of them in portrait would be amazing, but I'm otherwise happy with my Crossover and my old 4:3 that I use for irc, music, browsing, monitoring, anything that doesn't need to take up space on my primary.

My cards are way underclocked (1075/1475) compared to those guys at the overclock.net forum, I really have shit for cooling. In this Arizona summer heat it crashes as it is. I have to wait until winter to play Witcher 2 with ubersampling. :/

Maybe in the future I'll invest in a water cooling system, or better yet, fix the air conditioning in my house (but that is another story...).

You live in AZ and don't have a working AC? Crazy. And, don't know how well water cooling would work if you ambient temps are already high.

On a side note, I am shocked that I am still in top 25 after 1.5 years.

Yeah, it sucks. I'm not wearing a shirt right now.

Anyway, I managed to clock it a little higher to 1125/1500, but not running in 3x mode.

Ordered 4x EVGA GTX 680 Classifieds, tonight. Yes, I have a problem.

Anyway...the EVGA GTX 680 FTW+ 4GB x4 that I have are not performing as I would like (right now, due to an RMA cross-ship, I'm running 3-way SLI and getting max temps in BF3 of 74/74/60 which is a solid 10C higher than my prior 680 reference cards in a similar scenario!). I am hoping that the Classified's super cooler will improve on that by at least 5C plus they're the top-end binned cards from EVGA and not much more expensive. So...if you're in the market for a 4GB card for cheap, I'll be selling my FTW+ 4GBs next week (or perhaps the week after due to work travel). :)

a quick attempt with the latest betas (304.79) now that my new rig is finally up & running

P16760 - 2x Gigabyte GTX670 (+80/+800 --> 1269&1230Mhz core/3802Mhz mem) - i7 2600k@5.0Ghz - 16GB@1866 - ASUS P8Z68-V PRO - n0n44m - CPU, GPUs & board watercooled - Link

Unigine does 98.0 fps @ 1080p maxed or 109.1 fps @ 1680*1050 maxed

just some quick overclocking on the cards; these seem to be my stable daily settings for now

the core on my second card doesn't get far unfortunately :( luckily the memory does go quite far :p +800 is stable, no artifacts and better performance than +750 or lower; +900 gives white flashing immediately and I haven't tested anything in between yet

gotta fix some low GPU usage issue in Tribes/BF3 first though :(

temps on the cards are hilarious btw; with 22c water the cards have core temperatures of 32 and 29 (!!!) during Heaven 3.0 ... power% fluctuates between 60% and 68%

Wow! Super impressive setup, n0n44m. Really nice!

You may want to try the prior betas (304.48). I was running 304.79 and having A LOT of issues in BF3. .48 has much better multi-GPU performance, IMO. Maybe it's only something that affects 3 or 4-way setups, though.

Pro tip: If you're using a nvidia 6XX card make sure you select "stretched" under display scaling mode, using centred seems to enable V-sync, even if you have it disabled globally.

Not bad for my first try, I guess. The clocks I got from 3dmark, should I get another program to verify? EDIT: Looking at the other profiles, I guess mine are wrong. Will edit to fix. Edit2: Fixed

Edit4: Yeah, I had MVP on. Discard this bench, I'll post another soon.

Don't worry about that. We're not sticklers for that here (assuming it's because you're using a non-"certified" driver - which is pretty much anything other than the WHQL ones that have been vetted out by Futuremark). Nice score!!

Run it without MVP on so the scores are actually comparable.
Your score should be around 8900.

My first try at some basic overclocking. Only changed the clock speed of the processor so far.
Not sure about the RAM frequency though... they are running at 667MHz according to both 3dMark and CPU-Z. Isn't that a bit low?? :(

Edit: Hmm according to google it only show half the RAM frequency so I was running at 1333Mhz. Tried to fix it in the bios and change to 1600MHz but 3DMark is still showing 667MHz, however CPU-Z is showing 800MHz. Hopefully everything is ok! Updated the score with a new link aswell.

Do you have the latest Nvidia beta drivers installed? They improved my graphics score somewhat.

I suppose having other programs running in the background can affect the score as well. I terminated steam, skype and other software that is on auto start on my system before running the test.

I'll be attempting to over clock soon (just got my comp up and running)! I'm nervous... I have an ASRock Z77 Pro3 LGA 1155 and a Intel Core i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.9GHz Turbo). What's the best guide for me? Keep in mind im a nervous noob! Thanks!

Has anyone run 3dmark03 recently?

My 2003 rig vs. 2009 rig Poor, poor Geforce 4. Didn't that thing used to be good or something?

2009 rig vs. 2012 rig Note much less improvement. At these low resolutions and insane framerates everything is CPU limited. I tested with one 7970 and got only about a 25% increase in framerate except in pure GPU tests.

It looks pretty damn good for something running at 1500fps. Seriously.

And yet 3dmark06 gets lower framerates than 3dmark Vantage and 3dmark11, and no crossfire usage whatsoever (in fact the framerate goes down in all but one test). What's the deal?

EDIT3: updated score - much better. :) #2 on modsrigs.com behind k|ngp|n - fastest rig on air. :)

Psssht, LN2 is nothing. I have heard that excuse before and I dismiss it! Push those cards!

I'm just going to do liquid cooling sometime in the near future. I've run out of cards to upgrade to, so it's an inevitability (until GK110 comes out next year). :) I found a guy locally that could probably help me out, too...I have pretty much zero experience with liquid cooling.
