well at least it means PSP might be able to keep its >35k number thus finally outpacing PSP sales from last year up until this point

If anyone was wondering, this PSP Gundam > the DS one. :p

Let's hope Bandai takes notes from Banpresto to ride on the success of this with Gundam Battle Royale. I could really do with a NON-SHITTY portable Gundam action game, you heard that Bandai?!?! :D

Good to hear Gundam is getting picked up and not overlooked, and some very nice PSP sales. I didn't know it was so liked in Japan (due to sales of Gundam Battle Tactics)

Does this mean ACWW won't be in the Top 10 for two weeks running? A shame it couldn't be in the top ten when it hit 3 million.

So as of last week, the PSP has sold less YTD compared to less year given the same time frame?

The DS one launched the week after Brain Training (i.e. before the DS exploded). Still good sales for the PSP one, regardless. The PSP has really started to do pretty well the last month or so. :)

As cvxfreak said, yes. The PSP was running behind or about equal to last year until the week of June 12-18. Since then, PSP in 2006 has been consistently above PSP in 2005.

Edit:
Here's a quick graph comparing the two years for PSP. Point 24 is the week of June 12-18.

I'd like to see that for world wide numbers, and also a (exponential?) graph that includes total world wide sales.

You know, for comparison purposes?

We only get regular numbers for Japan and the U.S. Also, the PSP launched last year in the U.S. so this year would be unfairly deflated in comparison.

Wow. Impressive Gundam numbers.

Bamco Nandai has been doing really well in general, actually, on both portable systems -- some of the highest third party sellers on the PSP and NDS have been from them.

Hope Makaimura really sells out the shipment by the end of the week. (And then some more in the week after that :()

Actually, if GP 120k is first day...it has a good shot at Gundam UC for PS2 released this year, which started with 160k. Quite good for PSP.

Jesuschrist, poor Capcom. Even the retailers don't want their games. This is the end of their 2.5D classics revival. Guess we'll never see the rest of the Mega Man games redone for the psp. :p

Barf_the_Mog

powerless or are they? o_O
Finally, a handheld non-non-game is selling in high numbers along with NSMB. Another nail in the coffin for the Brain Training franchise. It was tedious while it lasted, but I'm thankful Japan is open to real games again.

I guess we'll just have to settle for their brand new 2D games on the DS. Darn!

Wow, no wonder I can't find this game, that's such a stupidly tiny shipment :( Since day 1, I've been to at least 15 shops spread over Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe... I have yet to see a copy on a shelf.
